  1. MH are pretty lucky that they don't have a variety of fleet types, unlike TG, if they were like TG they would probably we crying. So they are lucky they can change over their fleet type if they wish too more easily. I think more A333 is the way to go, possibly some A332s but the problem in the long term is that their neighbors would have a modern and up to date fleet, I can even see VN with the sparkling new fleet of A359 and 787s and possibly A380. But most of MH's routes fit well with the A333 and B772 combo and it makes more sense but these do need to be replaced in the future. An A380 right now might not be a very wise decision but it MIGHT pay for itself in the future they need them for prestige routes such as LHR, MEL, SYD & AMS in order to compete. I would also like MH to change over to A320s, I know wishful thinking as the B738's are new, but I hate the looks of the 737s in general.
  2. Well flights to Australia are classified by many Asian airlines as regional. SQ send it's regional A333 product to Australia with the exception on MEL & SYD receiving long haul product. So we will see an increase on seats to MEL? Hopefully this might not effect possible MEL A380 flights!
  3. ^^ Thankyou again! I am now considering changing my ticket, I hesitate because it would mean that I would be waiting in the Terminal for 4+ hours, where I could have got to PEN at around 1PM. But to be on the safe side I might change the times.
  4. Looks like every other Air Asia livery! I was hoping for something alittle different, something like half red, half blue with a large Golden Star! Or a different colour instead of red like yellow or orange would have looked very nice! We need some varaiety to spot the difference! Apparently, I read somewhere the Vietnam Venture might have a blue livery?
  5. Thanks for all of your replys! I have flew into KULs LCCT before and immigration was pretty quick but the baggage took a while to get out though. My flight to KUL from MEL was however delayed about 45 minutes, so I'm very anxious about the connection time I have, maybe it won't be enough, hopefully I can make it!
  6. Hi, I booked a MEL - KUL flight on Air Asia's long-haul arm, D7 and wanted to know if a 2 Hour connection time in KUL is OK? I also booked a KUL-PEN segment afterwards. I booked these 2 flights as 2 different tickets and I'm abit worried that I might miss the PEN flight if my MEL flight comes in late or something else might happen. I hesistate because the next flight won't leave until 1:30PM, but I don't mind changing tickets or just cancel them as they were pretty cheap. If the PEN flight is delayed can I still get on? I will also have Checked baggage. Anyone reccomend taking the bus or taxi to PEN? Or is 2 Hrs connection enough? Thanks in advanced!
  7. Hopefully MEL will stay for at least another 2-3 years, they haven't announced anything on MEL, so hopefully they will still keep MEL! What are the chances of adding more capacity? They can increase the number of frequency and they might get more business pax? A little advertising won't hurt either!
  8. They have x3 Daily flights ex MEL DXB-MEL-AKL DXB-SIN-MEL DXB-KUL-MEL All operated with 77W equipment, but as mentioned, the DXB-KUL-MEL will get First suites instead of standard F soon. I thought the KUL leg was only temporary due to the arrival of both EY & QR into MEL and loads were lacking abit, but looks like it's doing quite well on KUL-MEL admits competition from MH & D7. Malaysian love going to Melbourne? Is that why there's so much demand KUL-MEL? MH mentioned MEL as a possible A380 destination, what are the chances of seeing EK sending theirs on the route?
  9. I don't know where to ask this, but I will ask it here, does anyone know why Jetstar Pacific's newest A320 (VN-A198) doesn't have the Jetstar logo's applied on it? It's just plain silver with the orange painted on the belly, what's going on here? Is it something to do with the branding issues? thanks!
  10. Wow! AirAsia is pretty much dominating Asia! : AirAsia Malaysia : AirAsia X : Thai AirAsia : Indonesia AirAsia New Ventures : VietJet AirAsia : AirAsia Phillipines : AirAsia Japan Although I'm getting very worried about VietJet AirAsia, I feel that it's stupid for a government to block foreign brands in operating. How is the name Jetstar to Australian? I wonder what excuse they are going to come up with for VietJet AirAsia!
  11. Cant you just call MH offices in each respective city? Surely they can help you out, unless MH doesn't have offices in MEL, SYD, ADL & BNE.
  12. Who cares, MEL is more important than SYD, MEL will get an extra x4 weekly flights in the Northern Winter timetable ontop of the current daily flights. It's not like having SYD will make a difference, D7 should look at other alternatives like Africa, Europe and even America instead of waiting for the governments approval. Also D7 should have more than 12 Premium seats, on a routes like to Australia, it's not enough!
  13. The SIN-MEL route carries the JQ code, while the SIN-AKL route carries the 3K code I think it would be smart to let BL do KUL-SGN, but I don't think they have rights to operate Internationally, because they are called Jetstar.
  14. Thanks for the great pictures! Chu Nguyen Vu Loc! Just one question, mot cau hoi? Did VN-A374 get a re-paint? I remember it last time in MEL having the dodgy paint job done in Zurich with the smaller titles, if so when are the rest of the A330's & remaining 772's getting their paint jobs done? Thankyou! Cam On!
  15. Those baby A320's will look beautiful in the TG livery, better than those 737's, these will be used primarily on domestic routes within Thailand and probably Indochina? If only MH ordered the A320 as the 734 replacements, they would have looked beautiful in the updated livery, maybe when the A320NEO comes along?
  16. I'm actually quite surprised that MEL is possibly getting the A380 now, perhaps MH wants to connect oneworld HUBs and to fight directly with SQ?
  17. That should be an entry requirement, since QF is the sponsor airline Although I really doubt MH will place an A380 on MEL-KUL, although I would really really love to see MH send them down here. Would this mean MH will close it's Lounges in Australia? OR possibly have them refurbished? With all the excitement, when is MH actually scheduled to join OW?
  18. Doesn't Virgin own abit of D7 aswell? If so, not very practical to join A Virgin alliance, if there was one.
  19. Wouldn't it be ironic if MH wanted to join OW? Several years ago they had the membership in a silver plater for them and decided not to and now they regret that decision? Possibilities: Star Alliance: Would never happen with SQ & TG still in, looked what happened when SQ joined, TG threw a large tantrum! SIN & BKK are great HUBs and connect Asia Excellently. SkyTeam: Possibly, VN & GA focuses mainly on VFR traffic and don't really work a HUB system, BUT! VN are showing serious signs of jumping into the business market, wanting to be only second to SQ in SE Asia. So VN might block them from joining, plus, what's in it for VN? Oneworld: Would be the smartest option, would give MH an advantage for being the only airline in the region, although MH must find a way to persuade QF & BA to operate to KUL to feed into it's Asian network as both have strong operations in BKK & SIN.
  20. It kinda makes sense since EK's loads aren't doing that well especially on the 3rd daily flight, routing them via KUL would be more sensible. Similar to the situation at MEL, although there's rumors EK may drop the A380 on DXB-KUL-MEL-KUL-DXB and change the flight times, hopefully this is correct! But there is already an over capacity demand on the MEL-KUL route anyways. But IMO it would make sense to operate the A380 direct from Australia to LHR via KUL, to compete with SQ, it won't satisfy customers flying an old 744 or 772ER then switching to a new A380, where they can get a consistent A380 product offering on SQ.
  21. How Exciting! I just love flying AirAsia! I wish There was an AirAsia Australia, but maybe in time there might be. Wasn't the Vietnam Air Asia, VietJet Air Asia having issues in the name and branding? The Vietnamese Government can get very very difficult and is very protective of VN, well VN is also very protective of itself to, look whats happening to BL right now, no international flights until they change their logo and branding! Apparently the Vietnam operations will have their aircrafts painted blue!
  22. Why does JQ have to take the other Australian routes and QF provides full service to SYD pax? The MEL market and to a lesser extent PER business market has more interests in Malaysia and offers more significant yield compared to SYD, hence the significant figures from pax ex MEL & PER to KUL in recent months. QF should spread out it's operations, while it has been expanding SYD internationally, it has drastically scaled down operations in other Asutralian airports, handing over markets to foreign carriers on a silver platter. Although JQ didn't even last very long on the route I can see it work on routes such as DRW-KUL using A320/21.
  23. Look out for this new lady, VN's new A321's look like they will have bigger titles, wondering when they will repainted the rest of the fleet. My wish is that VN repaints all of it's A330's with the smaller titles, cause they just look out of proportion, especially the SkyTeam jet! 24. For those looking for a bargain, the A330s will operate the last Sat service exSYD to MEL, just book the Premium Economy fare and you might just be lucky to try out the Business Class seats! So VA will have a single weekly SYD-MEL service using the A332s.
  25. Both Pacific Blue & V Australia will be under Virgin Australia by years end, SQ gave them their blessings to use the Virgin brand outside of Australia. Polynesian Blue will stay the same, rumoured to become Virgin Samoa or Virgin Polynesia.
