  1. Most of the tourists going to Perhentian and Redang islands fly in through KBR. [sarcasm=on] But of course, BA will fly direct LHR-TGG to bring in holiday makers when the airport gets its international status. [sarcasm=off]
  2. Here's my 'flight plan': Balik kampung: BKI-KUL 12 Oct, I'd be flying first class with AK Hahahahha... KUL-KBR 13 Oct, also with AK (yes, it's the raya morning) -- serves me roght for procrastinating. Balik kerja: KBR-KUL 21 Oct, early morning juice flight on MH. KUL-BKI 21 Oct, AK again on the last flight out. Plan to spend the whole day in downtown KL that day.
  3. Ditto. Anyone actually experiencing the new (dis)service already??
  4. Whooohhh my *alls shrank reading the news!
  5. The newspaper article: an excellent piece of PR write up! What would have been the icing on the cake is a passing mention that "MH is considering lowering the fare following a cost reduction reseulting from this change." or something like that! Anyway, I wonder if the unlimited drinks mentioned include Pepsi Light with ice.
  6. ... we'd have berbalas pantun competititon between the flight crew and the passenger.
  7. Hahahha... you kena register ka to listen to stuff on multiply.com? Never mind, here's another, I tumpang at a website domain I helped to make... heheheh If it can't be played by clicking directly on it, then right-click and "Save As..." I hope it works this time. Enjoy again. Hahahah
  8. Oh ok. I thought everyone gets to listen to it since it's okay on my side. No worries, I'm reposting it here and see if you can hear it now. It's a 331KB MP3 file. Enjoy.
  9. I took the 0855 MH2608 to BKI via LBU yesterday (25/9). The highlight was not the FA's or the food but the greeting made by the captain itself! He sounded very enthusiastic and welcoming. It was like he insisted on welcoming everyone on board. A nice change from the usual First Officer who's doing the routine (in there is any at all). Alamak sorry Ian and Khaled... heheheh. The parts which I caught myself smiling are "God is almighty" and "fasting and having breakfast". Listen for yourself here. Enjoy.
  10. Alamak, boleh kurang pahala puasa nih! Hahahahha
  11. Thanks Mahmoud, for the info. I noticed that even if you have been a member since June, both your posts are here on this thread so far. A very invaluable piece of (inside) information indeed - in true aviation enthusiast style. This thread is building up in the number of pages very, very quickly! And I'm marking which MH flight NOT to take to/from BKI until 31 December 2007. But then from the list, does it cover all already for the KUL-BKI vv sector?
  12. Welcome to MW, Azizul!! And you come in with such a relevant issue indeed! If it is true, there goes my "Excuse me miss. What's the other meal option? Chicken with rice? Can I have that too, please?" poser on unexpecting crew members. The food boxes are a good idea too actually, especially during Ramadhan afternoon flights. At least we can 'tapau' the food home for iftar. Kan Meor, kan? On the other hand, it can seriously damage the 5-star stature it currently holds. Besides it reminds me of my primary school days when foodboxes were distributed during the annual sports day. We had a curry-puff, a packet of sweets, a lukewarm packet drink and a bread roll. But then again, if the take-away sandwiches have Harrod's label, then I guess it's okay.
  13. Norman, you made my day so early today! Thanks a bunch!
  14. I told the 'equally nice lady as I was' that we were travelling together (which was the truth) and that we had to finish some work together (which is of course true also. Work to raid the buffet table! Hahah) while waiting for our onward flight -- all in that all-important tone. Be subtle yet firm. Hahahah.
  15. I have two notable instances whereby I got around the golden lounge. 1. holding a Y-class ticket for an impossibly packed flight (it was a Raya season rush), I went to the ticket counter, insisting that i WANTED TO UPGRADE to business class. Of course the answer was "I'm sorry but it is fully booked, sir". Then I said, "OK, I know that you can upgrade me last minute from the Golden Lounge(GL), so can I wait there? Who knows someone might not show up". The lady asked me to proceed to the GCCL check-in counter and tell the member of staff there of my intention. I did and I was given the Y-class boarding pass and the GL 'invitation card'. I prayed that the business class would remain fully booked right till final call ! Hahahah. Maybe it was pure luck but actually on a 'legit' business trip prior to that, I saw one datuk at the GL counter being upgraded to a business class seat at the last minute. He was paying though but I was inspired. One word of advice though: You need to be very, very confident here. Berani mati. Wake the con-man persona in you. Hahah... I put on an accent to my English too. When dealing with Malaysian service industry personnel, that would help a lot! 2. in another instance, travelling together, a friend of mine held the Y-class but I was on business. I decided to try my luck and invited him to GL with me. I spoke nicely to the lady. In British accent, of course. We were let in. That was pure luck. Both cases happened during the days before Idris Jala! Try them for yourself! Disclaimer: I would not be responsible if anything bad happens to you!
  16. Check out guys! Resplendently brilliant.
  17. Yeah, I bet all the window seats will be priced as first class...
  18. Close up, close up... zooom on the model!!!
  19. The whole 'boot the Jala' scenario is just another routine attention grabber by these people in their relentless attempt to justify their position, IMHO. I mean, let's cash in on the current so-called fiasco. Oh the MAS delays. Oh we are affected, aren't we? Let's make some noise and make it to the headlines. See, we can say something about the aviation industry too, you know, despite our being absolutely clueless. Hurrraaahhhh....
  20. Checked to find if there are RM0.50 tickets still available for November/December trips KBR-PEN vv. While there are plenty of RM0.50 ones for the PEN-KBR sector, the lowest for the KBR-PEN sector is RM29.90 -- the normal cheapest fare during normal non-promo periods. Fitri, nak pi Penang nih hujung tahun. Hang kena bawak aku pi semua tempat makan best di Penang, ok... Fitri, i'm going to Penang at the end of the year. You have to treat me at all the best eating places in Penang. Hahhah mati la translation got twisted.
  21. Regarding yesterday's rain, I think Adrian's backyard was also flooded! And as I was driving to UMS along Jalan Tuaran, I wished hard for an unobstructed journey... Violent and unpredictable weather nowadays.
  22. Some development here. A fellow member of another aviation forum posted this pic: 9M-XAA? No info on the location and date. Can anyone confirm?
  23. Hmm... a couple of pics from brunei would be very nice, guys! Heheheh
  24. All that I can offer now is the ummul-kitab to the deceased and may Allah give strength to their families and friends. ** A L - F A T I H A H **
  25. Yohan, I hope that's just a draft. Numerous language errors and sentence over-runs there. Needs some editing here and there. Good luck on your application.
