  2. Wau kucing? Tak pernah dengar pon...somebody explain... Edit Some education on WAU... Wau Bulan Among the traditional kites, Wau Bulan is the most popular and most attractive in appearance. It is called Wau Bulan because of its crescent shape and tailpieces. According to legend, Wau Bulan originated from the Sri Wijaya Empire and symbolizes the reunification of the empire by Dewa Muda. Wau Bulan was used by Dewa Muda as a guide to determine the designated area to be conquered. The wau Bulan today has since undergone much modifications and changes. The Wau Bulan was more widely known in Kelantan. Wau Kucing The design of Wau Kucing (Cat Kite) resembles the cat and is most apparent when seen from the back, beginning with the head, body and tail. The specialty of Wau Kucing is the 'hummer' emitting a screeching, high-pitched sound, similar to the sound made by cats. The 'hummer' is also used to frighten away evil spirits and to forecast the following day's weather. The floral and plant motifs of the 'sobek' carvings on Wau Kucing are decorated in the same way as the Wau Bulan. Source: http://www.filatelic.com/00-05/5kites.html
  3. But I still wanna see them, where did they go?
  4. Today I received a surprise email from MAS... While I appreciate this gesture of them replying my letter, however, 2 months too late? Sorry, in that period of time you have lost 1 customer to SQ. Even though I'm just one customer, but every single customer should be cherished, and retained.
  5. Fourth of July, you mean?
  6. Good luck! Just go for the interview for the experience, maybe you can decide later?
  7. If I'm not mistaken, Supersaver fares are class L, so when you get the booking pages and at the bottom, look for L class. If there's no L class in the selected dates of flights, then Supersavers are not offered for that combination. Yeah lor, well for Low cost airlines, the reason why they can offer prices as long as they do is because it excludes all the airport tax, surcharge, bla bla bla. It's all marketing, makes them seems so affordable. Like Ryan air here all also like that...unlike BA, they publish rates that includes everything.
  8. Have u seen grown men crying? Well there were so many of them on the street yesterday. The pub nearby had a MAJOR MELTDOWN. Gatwick ar...too far lah See lah one day
  9. Thanks Raj, looks like I need to find another location for the landings ones... Sneeze, can u elaborate about the colors? I have to admit that these photos are heavily photoshoped Am not sure why the CX is there, but there are a few big 747s parked there, South African, British Airways...maintenance? Too many BAs...at one point I was so annoyed whenever I see a blue belly Thanks SV, now I can update the details of each aircraft. Cheers!
  10. SQ is offering RM650 to HKG, but it's the 2 to travel promotion...
  11. I think as pointed out by SV, these are Business Class fares
  12. I don't believe it! Anyway...today was my first time spotting planes using my camera Sony DSC-H5. I think I kinda regret for not listening to advice from you guys when buying the camera. Many times I couldn't focus the image in time to snap the best image. I did manage to get 1 or 2 out of...say...40? Haha...here are some results. Nothing compared to the experts here! I have read up on some sites that mentioned that Myrtle Avenue off Hatton Road is the best place to spot. Actually I didn't think so lor...it's kinda hard to get nice angles on the big planes departing from 27L. So I went a few places to possible get the best angle. The best one I thought was at Hatton Cross Underground Station itself. While I was running around, I missed out TG, SQ, and only managed to get MH's belly! Also can someone help me identify the make of these planes? I'm still learning...thanks... And personally, my best shot...I think
  13. Such brilliant pictures, and fantasic quality too. Thanaks for sharing!
  14. When I clicked on the promo fares, it directs to http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/ISS2006/promoRoutes.jsp. When it should actually go to http://www.bookonline-malaysiaairlines.com...promoRoutes.jsp But good fares to Shanghai! Same as SIA's... Also, very buggy! Click on "Plan and book" and you'll get Error 500: Unable to compile class for JSP /usr/WebSphere/AppServer/temp/aixweb2/server1/MalaysiaApp_war/MalaysiaApp.war/ISS2006/_calendar.java:6: Package com.mas.fsales.bean not found in import. import com.mas.fsales.bean.*; ^ 1 error grrr
  15. Yeah...even things like the Sept 11 can't be avoided, if live information feeds are able to be relayed back to the ground.
  16. Can't wait to see the outcome of the photos! Also, group pic!
  17. They might agree to it, since they are desperate for cash...
  18. Was there last week - it's dirty (exterior), old, and tacky! It's a really really old building huh? I didn't know the building was there even though I always pass Jalan Sultan Ismail
  19. Great stuff! I especially love those wide angle shots
  20. Pretty good read from the Star biz section, not sure if already posted...
  21. Maarof, Great story that you have written there, it was great to imagine what its' like to be in your shoes during that time. I'd be great if you still have those 'surat terbang' so that the younger generations can have a look. Ya know what, those 3 things that you mentioned, aeroplanes, photography, and computers, are totally spot on. Took the words out of my mouth. When my little interest in aviation started, I begun to google for more information especially on the Malaysian aviation. Google brought me to this group of aviation fans, and since then, I had never actually looked back. It seems that it's a daily routine to visit this site, I even have it as a quick bookmark on my Firefox browser. This forum, eventually, led me to buy my first Prosumer camera. The pictures that are shared by all members have inspired me to take my own spotting pics. I am still very excited about this weekend's spotting plans that I have lined up myself. I have even declined my friend's meeting this saturday, just to go and spot my first plane with my new camera. All in all, this forum is fantastic. The people have made it a great forum, and this is actually the first forum that I have joined that required users to use their actual name...hehe Anyway, moving forward, cheers to year 2 of MW!
  22. I don't believe this! After enjoying Connexion on my flight yesterday, I read today that Boeing is looking to sell Connexion off? This is the best in-flight entertainment an airline can offer. I think paying USD29 to stay connected for a full flight is quite justifiable. My only complain is that the lack of a powerpoint supply. Otherwise, it's fantastic. Please stay!
