MH disposes Four Seasons Langkawi to Saudi interests.
KK Lee replied to Mushrif A's topic in General Aviation
If compared to similar resorts in Maldives, the room rate is cheap but Langkawi can’t attract premium clients like Maldives. -
When will MH formerly join an alliance? Guess MH can no longer use JL as an example that airline can do well without joining an alliance. Like other thing in the country, MH is going ‘my way’ on a lonely route or may be MH will start a ‘halal’ alliance.

To meet US airlines’ demand, Boeing is likely to relauch 737NG with technology from 787 in the next few years.

If AK is operating, the chance to make profit is there. Doubt about MH; the moment the operation is profitable, load of monkey business will come in.

PEN is less than an hour flight time from KUL. If MH II is operating from PEN, it will cannibalize KUL as a hub. Domestic tourists are seasonal and low yield, operating routes during holiday period may be viable but not year round. Old wine in new bottle. Doubt MH II PEN based operation will be profitable.

Talks In March To Liberalise Air Routes Between Malaysia And Singapore
KK Lee replied to Naim's topic in General Aviation
The yield on KUL/SIN sector is among the highest in the world. After including this yield, SQ price ex-KUL to other destinations became expensive, hence, haven’t taken SQ in the past 2 years However, the liberalization of this sector will impact MH bottom line substantially and immediately. Not sure, how willing the government is to walk the talk. As for other destinations in Malaysia except PEN, it is more likely to be code share or serve by Silk Air than SQ. -
It is not illegal or unsafe to operate 3 engines on a 4 holer but will have higher fuel consumption.

They may have tied seat belt to prevent wind milling. The damage to blades is consistent to FOD.

Foreign object debris, likely was sucked in while on apron. My 2 cents

RMAF is operating a BBJ for the king. Don’t understand, why they bought A319CJ for the pm instead of another BBJ. Perhaps someone can shed some lights.

Air Asia is a PLC. FAX is a private Ltd. Shareholders will have more to gain when FAX goes for public listing later. -

In many cases, what Malaysian newspapers reported is only worth the paper it is printed on e.g. Disneyland in Johor.

LCCT is crowded because MAB have under estimated the number of pax waiting for check-in counter to open at public concourse area. -
More Low Cost Carrriers to Fly To Malaysia
KK Lee replied to Ken K. Kour's topic in General Aviation
From my travelling, there are more middle class in Philippines, Indonesia and Bangladesh than in Malaysia or Singapore. And the middle class in Malaysia and Singapore are the poorest in Asia in term of disposable income and net asset/cash value. -
If we judge market potential with MH route can be disastrous. A good example is MH’s BKI/MNL. AK load on BKI/CRK really put MH marketing department to shame. Most Malaysians under estimated the market potential and spending power of Indonesians and Philippinos. Believe there are enough transit pax to justify daily ERJ or CRJ to major towns like Cebu, Menado, Davao, Makasar, etc if not 735. Given a choice, premium pax from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China won’t choose MH flight to KUL via BKI as it not direct, hence these flight are for low yield tourists. Premium pax disembark at BKI are mostly rich Sabahans. Guess flying to Indonesia and Philippines are less prestigious, hence won’t be bother by MH.

A strip down A320 may make to STN via AUH. Until AK found a viable long haul LCC business model, believe AK is just teasing MH.

All major European airlines are member of Alliance and aren’t interested to code share with MH except KLM. MH doesn’t has much choice but to work with a bankrupt airline like AZ. AZ is state control and poorly run; perhaps is a perfect partner for MH.

With the relatively small population, poor connection and low net income, long haul is not feasible for BKI currently. Believe BKI should be focusing to be a regional hub serving Borneo, Southern Philippines and North West Indonesia, with a few trunk routes to BKK, HKG, SIN, CAN and KUL before even thinking of long haul. Tourists from China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan can be well served by charter flights.
