  1. Chinese press mentioned aircraft involve was a 777-800 damn MAB went ahead with the 778x hahaha. Anyways any chances of maskargo deploying an a332f with equiptment to sbw? Would be an awesome sight for spotters.
  2. i think it is more towards the foreign crew are not used to our climate where bright sunny day turns into depressed thunderstorm in the evening. In cold temperate country the air is dry cold and cloudy all day. And if weather is bad they would just cancel training sessions.
  3. One of osprey pilots stationed in Japan told our ground handling in bki "weather in malaysia is f#cked up compared to 4season airports." Heard the USAF gave the same type of feedback during their joint exercise with RMAF.
  4. There times those deep clouds that should be magenta in color on weather radar do not show up on radar. Sudden microburst on approach to minimums or on the runway that are unrecoverable. There are some pilots that would hold until weather dies down. Then there are some that would go n attempt a landing successfully and telling atc that landing for other flights is no issue. I believe no landing should be attempted in any circumstances even if visibility permits then again airlines would get pissed doing logistics for diversion and delays for weather avoidance. Then there's super budgeted management pilots that go nimble every cost saving measure that bores nuisance to operation. Cruise higher on such short sector cutting other slower traffic queue on approach, descending below profile to cut queue, list goes on and very common in overseas Lcc airlines it is creeping in to our local aviation.
  5. Definitely weather playing a role. Been Raining very heavily in bki like buckets of thick water thrown into the car screen these past few days and other parts of sarawak and sarawak when it should be dry season(climate change?).
  6. Friend just flew with them. Service is on OD level minus Business class products and perks. Seats on economy very tight some rows are at 28seat pitch way below Airasia. Loads on both flights were quite low as well due to fare cost.
  7. Malindo is expanding near the threshold, lack of Fo as many are still clearing sim and line plus many new planes are coming in but they are deployed in tight rotation that tech issues or delay will leave wide network disruption due to rapid expansion.
  8. Loads are uneven most of time i took od from kul-bki it is hardly ever full and no proper meals after they dump the meal onboard purchase.
  9. Probably ran out of hotel rooms at their partner hotel in auckland. But still it is the airlines responsibility to provide alternative accommodation especially when dealing with a country that holds good emphasis on consumer protection.
  10. mas needs the extra range but not the extra capacity for long haul. Should be near 280ish seats.
  11. Heard over radio only pob 40 for return flight. lol
  12. Would think the 787-9 would be the better candidate. If his aiming for 777-300er it will be heavy and probably more redundant than the a380.
  13. Bellew mentioned countless time at townhall that the a330 will be strictly PW.
  14. Get some interim a333s nothing more. Long term fleet they should plan for proper planes maybe the b787-9 or b777x if they plan to tap back to europe.
  15. MKZ grew quite a lot in 2015 when OD open up but many of the routes lack load. The only route i think MKZ can survive on is Pekan Baru most of them are here for medical tourism. Penang on the other hand needs strong marketing, many of the locals in melaka do not know that there is direct flight to penang and kota bharu(Back then)
  16. Yeap much better to get new widebody types. Would prefer if more common cabins like 767/788 would do regional but nowadays stretch narrowbodies could easily take over that mission. No airline nor plane manufacturer would want new widebody because of cost and todays passengers travel pattern have become more frequency oriented than way then. Hence less preferences for new widebody. Pretty sad for old time travelers.
  17. its been going on for nearly a week now, and yes sadly its at night.
  18. I only saw those rmaf c130 doing those reverse thrust push back in kk before. Very rare sight to see an a340 do it!
  19. Heard that airasia has cancelled the b77w project. Rating cost and long term cost are not efficient. London to be delayed until a350 comes. Group is also studying using a330neo with a onestop in between for a possible earlier launch. Anyone can confirm?
  20. mtow and range ops on a320/738 shouldnt will be very comforatable with that length. 739 will still be a bit dodgy. Widebody on regional 8 hour range will be easy now.
  21. Twu runway is actually pretty okay, ur flight probably used more runway as the pilots used lower brakes and reverse thrust to prolong gear and engine life and no immediate traffic bugging at the back. I used to be scared of landings taking up runway. but now from what i discovered it is the take off that should be worried. Payload and wind to air dampness conditions will affect required runway usage for take off and mtow usually takes more runway than landing.
  22. Brunei's entourage b762, Mytravel A330-200(with over 400 person onboard) did landed in SDK before and recently a b752 Thomson luxury charter. Talking about SDK it is a captains sector for 738 and A320 operators due to runway condition(it aint the smoothest leveled runway in borneo) and length. Malindo's B737-900ER and potential A321s would not be able to take off on that runway with 4-5hour(this may include sectors such as SDK-KUL where diversion and holding fuel load is applied as well) worth of flight time payload unless thrust and flaps modification are done which are not cost conservative to some airlines. Same issue with Melaka's white elephant Batu Berendam when China Southern's A320 had a hard time that they wanted to downgage to A319s on some flights to be extra safe. In fact larger aircrafts like A330/B772 would use less runway with the same 4-5hour payload and passengers carried as the 739 and a321 due to significant more powerful and larger engines equipped. Perhaps this runway extension is to accommodate more stretched narrowbody aircrafts from any 4-6 hour sectors instead of what the press reported as for widebody. The best runway length for b738/a320 to do 6 hour sector would be approx 8000feet+ if it were to be the B737-900ER etc it would need nearly 9800feet based on Maxed take off weight. Not really a good margin on hot day operation. Sandakan runway length is only 7000feet hence a lot of restriction.
  23. No matter what livery u put on the A380 it is difficult to get a decent looking one due to the double deck dugong sized fuselage this is where the 747 looks much better in looks. IMO the MAS swoosh livery looks good enough on the A350 luckily it wasnt painted on the A380, now its up to MAB to keep it looking clean outside and inside.
  24. there was a rumor circulating that Lion Group asked Malindo to rebrand because many foreign customers treated Malindo's tail logo as Lion Air and associate it with Lion Air's constant flight delay, bad customer services and thought it was an LCC carrier.
