  1. well another several millions wasted and down the drain - for painting and bringing back the 744 to flyging conditions. Just like what the same old MAS would do.
  2. SIA should have just merged Tiger into Scoot for better efficiency as it may likely have to do so in near future; instead of having 2 budget subsidiaries.
  3. yes exactly why not SIA? - if SIA offers a better product and more connections and potentially provide more passenger feed. Some things ought to be made based on commercial reasons. Besides now MAS do not even fly to Europe except to London and have very much frequencies to Asia.
  4. not forgetting the previous bail-outs...ooops "restructurings" and the rm12 billion losses that have incurred. But in any case MAS would have made some profits principally because of the almost 50% drop in oil prices - as can be seen from the result of Cathay and SIA - all attributable to falling oil process rather than on passengers revenue as in fact SIA load actually have even come down.
  5. did not say nor hear that the A350s will go away - what is clearly what I meant and wrote is that whether MAS will still keep its A380s when the 4 leased A350s arrives.
  6. Doubt SIA will renew these 5 leases - as SIA have already placed an order earlier last year or is it before - for 5 new A380s. And wonder when or now if MAS will continue to use its 6 A380s and not withdraw it from service when the4 leased A350s arrived with Chris gone now.
  7. whilst it looked very good and esp as a 744, it would be fairly expensive to have brought it back into active service for a short term. And its only one 744. Even the tech crew and esp the cabin crew would have to be re-familiarise themselves and do the necessary SEP tests. MAS should have considered leasing a plane for this.
  8. how in the world can a CEO even say such things so undiplomatically and even talked ant racial issue when he had to promote a cleaner to a Station manager! Then what can we say abt the airline!
  9. the govt should just allowa foreign airline who is interested to take up to 49% equity in MAB and try to make it work one more time to see if MAB can truly be saved.
  10. it took SQ even almost 5 months to get back one of its A330 back into service after the nose gear collapse during maintenance at the gate shearing door 1L
  11. well it really no big or shocked surprise as this is Malaysia airline and Khazanah which is a govt GLC that we are talking about. After all the efforts of getting rid of the planes and routes and now this.........again Malaysia Boleh. Likely next permananet CEO will start to buy planes and expamnd routes previously cut and ya even more A380s ha ha well it really no big or shocked surprise as this is Malaysia airline and Khazanah which is a govt GLC that we are talking about. 12. but still puzzling why MAS with its 6 A380s of which 4 are only used for its LHR runs - do need to bring back a 744, even if its A380s are due for some "major" maintenance as the other 2 are for charters which can be adjusted or MAS do not undertake these charters when its whalejets are down for maintenance.
  13. am surprised she really asked this - doesn't she know the history of MAS and how much Billions it have lost through the years and the few restructurings when the airline was run by very locals?? Not a very bright MP even if she is trying to gain political mileage.
  14. can easily see an Air Asia plane is better cleaned and maintained. MAS dirty planes ie the exterior with blackened water marks and esp at the tail end is a constant sight even before it changed its parent name - and seems like nothing have changed - dirty exteriors, and dirty interiors and at times even the top of the sides lights dont work and not replaced. and even dare not think about how is their technical maintenancework done on the aircrafts and whether there's any techincal audit on how the maintenance are carried out according to the maintenance regimes and manufacturers' directives. Been on a few MAS aircrafts in the last 2 years with a fairly high incident of the APUs not working and hence very stuffy interiors and longer engine starts.
  15. and Mueller is said to be putting in Economy Plus setas in the upper deck of its A380s.
  16. Heard now Mueller wants to fit in Economy plus seats in the upper decks of its A380s. Not sure if its costs effective to retrofit the seats as they A380s are going to be around for 2 years plus before the A350s take over.
  17. This would also mean Malindo fares will not be budget anymore and fares will go up to near MH and similar which is not a good thing.
  18. with only 2 ageing 734s - its too ambitious to now fly to 5 destinations as can be seen what happens when one aircraft is AOG. Also am surprise the CEO was so quick to even hint at a "sabotage" - wonder who would even want to do that; and coud well be the possibility of the windshield crack is just because of age.
  19. interestingly Malindo have increased its FREE baggage allowance to 30kg. Also coincidentally when Rafidah Aziz became the Chariman of Air Asia, its have been lsosing money since.
  20. its just plain ridiculous as few aviation analysts have already pointed out - and in today's papers MH says its only for B777 flights to europe. There are few other carriers that flies the same 777 from europe to KUL or SIN without such baggage restrictions - like British Airways, SIA, Luftansa etc. None of them have such baggage restrictions. Even as some have mentioned, MH could reduce its belly cargo carried in its 777s instead of getting its valued customers to carry less baggage. How on earth can the new MAB even think of such - and in any case by end Jan, MH will cease to operate its 777s to europe.
  21. it should not be a problem for emirates to fill up their high density A380s as by 25 Jan 2016, MAS will no longer fly direct to Paris and Amsterdam and all its european flights will be code-share with emirates.
  22. Well the govt through Khazanah still need to put in another rm4 to 6 Billion into MAB in order to see it produce some profits which is not expected to be truly stellar or that it can even be able to pay back MAS accumulated debts of at least rm16 billion through the many years of restructurings. Even this new capital injection would be able to stary a totally brand new airline with aircrafts. Even if and when MAB does turn a modest profit 2 or 3 years down the road, it would be a very hard struggle to expamd by then. Now with its own aircrafts it will only be a more of a regional airline - and being regional it have to even compete with the many budget airlines in the region that serves the same regional routes and even more. This regional field will also includes the many asian full service airlines.
  23. It would be very difficult for MAB to return back to its previous european routes and even some of its australia market once it is truned around and show some profitability. This is because in the interim other MEA airlines will be further entrenched into the Malaysia-Europe routes and esp for Emirates. Then there are other asian ailines who will be picking up the slack from MAB. It will be a real struggle for MAB to grow itself in the medium and long haul.
