  1. Good stuff, Yuh Loh! Love the EK 777 and QF+SQ A380 shots!
  2. Nice M&M shot, Uncle Norman!
  3. Nice pics, tsentsan! Thank you!
  4. I'm sure this is no longer "news" for some of us now, but for those who didn't get a chance to read the news today, here it is. News quote from SMH.com.au. Virgin Blue's CEO Bretty Godfrey had announced, some time in 2009, his plan to step down from his role before the end of 2010. They then started searching for potentials, and just this morning it was announced that former Qantas EGM Sales and Marketing, John Borghetti, will be taking over the reins as of May 8th. Times ahead will no doubt be interesting for us working in the industry as well as for the travelling public. Hopefully a rebranding exercise some time into the near future?
  5. Hi alim, Expecting to work for MAS as soon as you graduate from Basair (or any other private flying schools) may be quite unrealistic, unless you're that lucky. As a few of the experts will tell you, if you graduate from an Australian flying school with CPL/IR, you will still need that licence converted to a Malaysian, DCA-issued licence. That alone will cost you extra time and money than if you graduate from one of the local flying schools. Total fees to study at Basair depends on what course package you pick up, but you could be looking at A$50,000 easily - and that's not inclusive of living expenses in Sydney.
  6. Thank god they didn't buy the Embraers. We have the 170 and 190, but call them the 180 - pushback, taxi, and come straight back to gate. Tech! *scrambles for aircraft change and re-crew* Then again, that was 'back then'. Product should have matured and be better now (hopefully).
  7. Think on the bright side - airline starts hiring, AFI applies and gets recruited by airline, AFI positions become available, and then there's a job for you (as AFI)! And then the cycle starts again. The old batch leaves, the new ones steps up, and so on and so forth.
  8. Says the course will meet DCA's requirements, but no mention of completing the course with a DCA-approved licence.
  9. Hehe. SY, I'd give them a pat on the back now and kick them in the guts later if they roll into losses again (which by then I won't be surprised). Keeps them happy for a while, at least.
  10. Yup, used to be known as FTA. And yes, I believe you'll need to do a conversion, though Basair used to train AK cadets - not sure how they go about that.
  11. Some of them might be queueing up for the lavs.
  12. Basair is pretty good. But here's another option - in Adelaide, which may work out cheaper for its lower-than-Sydney living costs. CX cadets train with these mob, IIRC. http://www.adelaideftc.com/about-aftc/overseas-students
  13. Chaity, Nice shots of the Saudi T7.
  14. 26th June huh? Can I put myself down on the list first and reconfirm closer to date?
  15. I might just give D7 another chance if the price is right. Though not really my cup of tea flying into and out of LCCT.
  16. Sad to see yet another over-reaction citing concerns for aviation security, which is completely rubbish. But do agree with KC - "be discreet, be realistic, be cautious, be observant, be mindful". Not just in India, but everywhere we go spotting. We don't need, and definitely don't want, big signs with massive arrows pointing at us, shouting "Spotters here!". Happy Spotting!
  17. Good stuff. See, you don't always need to price your product way up there to gain profit.
  18. If SZB desires more traffic, maybe AK and D7 can relocate to SZB.
  19. Well done, D7! Thank you for ditching the egg shell seats with "slide-able" cushion that squashed my legs, reduced my legroom, and almost caused DVT after an 8-hour journey from OOL.
  20. Last I remember route-sharing between D7 and JQ has not been completely ruled out, so there's still opportunity there. If D7 does indeed utilise the A333 on OOL-CHC vv, I'm hoping for some dirt cheap fares given the spike in seat capacity on that route. Time to plan my NZ trip. LOL.
  21. Loving your style, Waiping. Hope the pax were allowed to use the lavs... And also access to their carry on bags...
