  1. Wow. That's during the summer period. Hard to imagine it's because of low demand? Perhaps operational requirements? To be fair though that's only 10 flights
  2. Interesting to see where the spare A350's go. Tokyo?
  3. Nope they didn't. Won't rule it out though.

    KLIA3

I can 100% confirm the KLIA3 was a misquote. I heard the recording myself. He said terminal expansion will be in five years, and "KLIA3 will be decades away". Media for some reason wrote KLIA3 will be in 5 years.
  5. They did seriously consider the 77W before this, so I don't think they are merely looking at Boeing to put pressure on Airbus. If Boeing can offer a good deal, all things considered, they would take it for sure.
  6. Bingo http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/airasia-completes-rm1b-private-placement-major-shareholders AirAsia will declare a special dividend from the sale of the leasing arm, which essentially means this sale basically funded Tony and Kamaruddin's share purchase. Extremely smart businessmen.
  7. With all due respect to the Malaysian flag, I think the livery would look better without the Moon and Stars
  8. I think you mean SZB? It is under MAHB but the commercial portion is concessioned out. You might be asking this as you have heard that WCT/Pavilion has recently bought the rights to this concession from Tan Sri Ravi. You have access? Perhaps you can share? Is the amount totally out of whack for a company based on travel, that needs to travel? Of course. So we return to the original discussion, as to how BKK and SIN can be operated differently, since they have no need to subsidize the other airports or worry about "economies of scale".
  9. MAHB operates 39 airports in Malaysia. Of course the major ones make money. But that is perhaps 5 or so out of 39. MAHB as an entity is still profitable even after supporting the other airports. BKK, run by Airports of Thailand, is also able to be profitable. However, unlike MAHB, they do not have to subsidize all other airports in Thailand since the non-moneymaking airports are not under their purview. SIN, is not even a listed entity, and is able to make decisions based on "Singapore Inc". Of course they are in an even better situation, since they are just one airport.
  10. Will the new private operator be allowed to increase PSC then?
  11. KLIA is a "cashcow" but it still needs to subsidize all other airports in Malaysia. Perhaps KLIA should be spun-off separately so it can properly compete against BKK and SIN?
  12. I think we will be really closing the gap with Changi this year. If MAS can continue its recovery we might just top them in the coming years.
  13. Wow, that's very, very modest growth. Honestly am not excited by that. Note that the 787's aren't even mentioned specifically and that seems like they have given up on Europe entirely, bar AMS. As Trump would say: Sad!
  14. Sorry, I misread. I thought 9M-MAC was the third and would also be carrying Negaraku
  15. Wonder how does the 31" MH A350 compare against others? QR I think is also 31" but it was a fantastic ride when I was on it
  16. Vancouver and Mexico City? Whoa.. haha
  17. Yes I think it was intentional to be 9M-MAB. The could have easily went for any other letter instead of A in the 9M-MxA
  18. Well, after getting "screwed" (used for the lack of a better word) by two mat salleh's, of course the mood isn't there. I too feel it should be a Malaysian.. just that Peter should have seen it out at least until the planned IPO.
  19. You just said it yourself, GLC's might have other priorities = i.e. national interest. Some people look at this as motivation... like Peter Bellew But of course, I know you are implying other things....
  20. My initial thoughts was also that with all the plans in place already, it might be important for an operations person to lead the line. Am torn though, between an internal candidate like that, or any one of Malaysia's top corporate men (or women?). I once asked Azran Rani if he would ever run MAS, he said no. Wonder if we asked the same of Aireen?
  21. Just to get the ball rolling.. The press have speculated either Omar Saddiq or Shahril Mohktar. Brief profile: Omar Saddiq Age: 43 Current CFO of MAB Experience: PwC, Khazanah, CIMB Degree in Economics from LSE Shahril Mokhtar Age:44 Current CEO of MRT Corp Experience: PwC, BAT, SPAD, PMB (Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad), RapidKL Also Director at Prasarana and MyHSR Hope to have mature discussion here, very interesting topic. My own opinion at this point, is that I hope bigger names than the above are considered. But both still relatively young, and perhaps that's what the company needs.
