  1. Granted. Sorry I was so sleepy earlier to post more photos. My day with MWingers started about quarter past seven in the morning when I texted Walter to know where they were then. At the time, I just left Oldtown kopitiam at Cyberjaya after more than a couple of hours chatting away. I was working UK shift (3pm-12am), and later yumchar with my colleagues who were on US shift (6pm-3am) before meeting up you guys so I do apologise for not being able to stay long with MWingers this morning. Anyway, Walter texted about the change of venue, instead of OH, they're at Weather Station. Met Walter, KS Ong, Victor A, Chaity, Liau, Ibrahim, Yong, Emperor, Yu Loh (oh gosh... seriously my brain isn't helping now... I had to try hard to remember... sorry if I missed anyone I met at Weather Station or got your names wrong!). First time jitters, so I was shy to bring my mere digicam out amongst the poisonous of the poisons. The result? No photos at Weather Station from me... Moving on after Kong Kong Airlines departed, we went to the lake spot (well.. its kind of a big pond... actually ). Now here, I took photos. Love how the plane's reflections were on the lake's surface when they flew above it. The lake. Lepaking around. Chaity pose! Lovely couple. ( my mind was too preoccupied, I missed her name) Oh but Pieter, she's so nice and friendly and very sweet to me! Again, congratulations The occasional spotting In keeping up the spirit of spotting... although a bad one (well, posting it here to mark the relevance of this thread with Obs Hill sub-forum!) More spotting. Yeah... checking out photos. Finally, the lot I met at the lake's group photo. Sorry guys, for the false alarm... with the first group shot. Really embarrassing! Made Emperor cursed few times too for standing there for nothing because he almost missed one good spotting shot. Sorry ya guys! From left to right: Michael Chai, Ibrahim, Walter, erm... Yu Loh?, Jon Kong, Kevin Teh, Yong, Chaity, Victor, KS Ong, Pieter's lovely ah Moi, and Pieter. Called Walter half an hour ago, and they're still at Weather Station then. I only had less than a couple of hours with the gang, the reason my lack of photos. But anyway, its been great to meet you guys up! Thanks for your company, all! I feel bad for leaving early and not able to meet the rest of you guys. Am sure there would be loads of good times and good photos to be shared by them here soon. Cheers
  2. I should have let Gavin started this thread. Since he was the one who created the last one: MalaysianWings Celebrates its Second Anniversary Am not going to post much. Just some sneak previews from the 'morning shift'... Courtesy of Chaity (thanks!) I'll add more later and let the rest of the guys fill this up first For now, I need to save my head from banging forward to the screen...
  3. [Off-topic] Just got back from work, and this is considered quite early for me Hey... long time didn't see you around here, Victor! [/Off-topic] Yeah... pray they get better soon When I saw this thread's title, it kind of unnerves me, since it reminds me of the private Cessna aircraft which went nosedive on a roof of a house in a residential area in Kent, London. Around end of March '08. Five people were killed in that incident
  4. Oh my.... I missed all news... I'll pray for speedy recovery for both trainee and instructor...
  5. Intriguing news. My first thought was maybe a freak accident caused poor ventilation of CO2 in the cockpit which then lead to snooze-yness. (Yes, crazy idea, and yeah.. I made that word up). If they [Air India] do it right I'll assume that there will be full investigations done to analyse and explain the 'eh-terlepas-stesen' situation. We can immediately speculate on human errors based on recent statistics, but without proven facts on the incident, it will still be speculations and calculated guesses. (Still remember my American English professor keep stressing to the class about avoiding 'false generalisation' when writing essays, never knew it became my motto in life hahaha ). But then again, avoiding speculations altogether, its very hard to breed intelligent discussions, be it a healthy one or not. Wasted point of views are sad cases, in my opinion. Anyway, I somehow breathe a relief sigh after reading thru the article. Thank goodness no lives were claimed due to this incident.
  6. Haha... I was wondering about Walter's photo, don't see any manipulation... then I saw the airlines' name...
  7. Waah... I didn't know that. I used to 'lepak' at KLIA's Anjung Tinjau by parking my car at Putra Sentral, took the KLIA Transit (RM6.20 one way), and if I want to 'lepak' at the spotting areas, I had to drive there instead. Thanks for the tips, Ibrahim Nowadays, I just 'lepak' at 32L if I see not many people there. Evening times its like a place for family picnics there... loads of people I see, so I usually parked beside the road between Weather Station and end of 32L. Once in the wee morning after work I went there I almost wanted to do volunteer work and pick up the trashes and litters around - its really sad to see these rubbish thrown in the overgrown weeds there. Too bad I didn't have big rubbish bag with me. I always wanted to check out 32R/14L and Obs Hill, and always curious about Spooky Spot, but since I always went there on random basis, so its usually only me, and taking your advises here I never dared to visit it alone (well.. except at 32L). I only just able to watch (and sometimes stopped the car by the road between Petronas and the lake) when I caught sight of any planes taking off. Hahaha... gian sangat to see one take-off at close proximity.
  8. Perhaps the demand for more pilots put pressures for them to perform. Though I can say I have confidence... I sure do hope that any economic or whatever demands from the uninformed directives won't compromise any kinds of training, be it flying the aircraft nor making sure the planes are fit to fly.
  9. My goodness... they do make the word 'massive' sounds minuscule.
  10. Aircraft specifically designed for aerial firefighting from Bombardier Aerospace... as if its purposedly sparking interests for our 'Bomba' (fire fighters / department) to place some orders.. hehe.. (silly joke, I know..) I personally would love to see more amphibious aircrafts here in Malaysia. Not only for maritime purposes, with the constant haze from illegal forest burnings, we could really use the 415MPs not only to fight the fire but also to scout these forest arsonists too. Just a suggestion.
  11. Even the rambut (hair) is senget (askew). Agree with Yu Loh, not just anyone can experience that. Corner baring betul! (sharp turning!)
  12. I was surprised to see a friend posted this.. because I am not sure if he's into aviation, so I can't guarantee if the info is correct. The photos he put up were the same as those Azuddin posted here. Anyone can verify that the below a reliable source of description of the incident? "...Brand spanking new right out of the hanger, without a single hour of air time. Enter the Arab flight crew. Nine employees of the Arab airline were in the aircraft, but not one employee from French Airbus was present. The Arabs taxied out to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with virtually an empty aircraft. This was their first mistake as they obviously didn't read the run-up manuals. They had no clue just how light an empty air bus really is. No chocks were set, not that it would have mattered at that power setting. The brakes will not hold it back at full power anyway. As it turns out, the takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had all 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to takeoff but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc, etc). Then one of these brain surgeons decided to pull the 'Ground Sense' circuit breaker to silence the alarms. This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air. That was the last mistake. As soon as they did that, the computers automaticlly released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. They had no idea that this is a Safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on. There was no time to stop and no one smart enough to throttle back the engines from the max power setting. So the rest is as you see it below."
  13. Just watched Air Crash Investigation (12am - 1am)... weird, as the info guide listed the show as Silence of the Bees (Ch 553 NatGeo showed a rerun of Season 1, I think, Cutting Corners, about the Alaskan Airlines Flight 261 MD-83's stabilizer trim failure). I didn't know they showed reruns. Anyone know the repeats of NatGeo ACI Asia Season 5 on Astro? I didn't subscribed to the new info mag so I am not sure when the actual repeats. It's not shown on Sunday at 10pm the past two weeks, and finishing work at midnight, I've been rushing back from work the past two Tuesday nights to catch the repeats on Wednesday, 1am. With grievous note, I found last week's episode seriously intriguing (Dead Weight, the Air Midwest Flight 5481 Beechcraft 1900D's maintenance negligence and miscalculated overload). It always chilled my bones when the cause of the crash was due to maintenance error / negligence. But I underestimated the concern of having overweight pax for smaller aircrafts. I wonder what is the average weight per pax for FireFlyz, Berjaya Air, or MAS and AK used in their calculations? Just an observation. Coincidently, the pilot, the lead investigator, and the lead of the first firefighter team on the scene of the air crash were all females. Hmm..
  14. I remember I bought this book when I was a total innocent (of local aviation news) hehe... really did made me went 'oooh... cool', and 'ahh... amazing'. I was lulled into the world of AirAsia when I read that book... truly. But that was long before I found MWings, hehe.. now my point of views came grounded and soberly neutralized
  15. From BBC News online, here. I hope they don't force the dogs to commit harra-kirri But can they actually do that, legally, to unsuspecting and uninformed members of the public?
  16. Somehow I'm drawn to the 'humble' map light, looks like it's defrosting Cool pictures My odd shot.. wanted to take the jelly fish photo, but shutter speed so slow and it's too late...
  17. Ahaha.. I remember the lo-ong walk as well. Flight back home was delayed for few hours due to some technical issues, and we were only able to board after midnight. MH gave us vouchers for Starbucks (I think the only store that still open that hour) as compensations, now looking back I think its a witty ploy to get me distracted from the long delay - because the long walk back to Starbucks, the LONGer queue to get our turn to order, and yet another long walk back to the boarding area occupied my night at LHR.
  18. Sigh.... Why don't they compromise a bit, like just repaint one or two, instead of all three? Or, they can still repaint all of them, but instead of going back to normal colors, why don't the make smaller versions of the livery on the airframes? In this way, both sides gain something, be it advertising or the KPI whichever. Repainting the special liveries so unique like these to normal colors, its like stripping these beauties naked off their identities. Like erasing someone's personalities just because their images are too 'loud'. Sorry... slightly emotional about the news.
  19. Hi eiling, I've enjoyed reading your entries on the new regional lounge! Thank you for sharing us the inside view. Some non-frequent fliers like me will really appreciate the photos of the lounge. I like the 'oasis' concept. By the way, is KLIA the only Regional Golden Lounge which has been fully renovated and refurbished? I even went and search for Fidani's chocolates, and I must say.. yumm...
  20. Hmm... not sure if I attended any Hari Pelanggan before.... what do they normally do during Hari Pelanggan? Just Q&A session? Any collectibles to be sold that day? Or just a simple 'ceramah', or short talk and presentation on BTP2?
  21. I actually started collecting them from Information Counter at KLIA, well... since December '07 issues. Missed Feb '08 though. Thanks for the link!
  22. Yup, I agree with Keith . Very good for the blood pressure! My sentiments too.. cheers all. ...and we will continue with this MH is Malaysian Hospitality thread discussion. Anyone care to share some opinions on my YouTube questions above?
  23. Big Brother is watching, eh? Though Orwell's book and the idea gave me unnerving thoughts, but I guess I do agree to a certain measure to have such scrutiny not only at KLIA, but at all international airports. After all, they are the main door to outsiders to come in to our home country.. (well... if we choose to ignore the unprotected borders where illegal immigrants found their way in..).
  24. Sorry can't edit the above post to add few links I find quite intriguing.. a series of adverts / interviews with some of MH customers and partners.. or so, I think. Hmm..
  25. Thanks for these, zaki! Now I'm digging all MH's new adverts, surprisingly there are quite a handful more out there on YouTube.. really impressed with them. The second video.. talking about the station manager, described as one 'young man'.. I've always thought that to be a MAS station manager the staff needs to have a considerable years of experience before being selected as station manager?
