2 Daily Emirates A380 to Kuala Lumpur from 1 July 2016
Lim Kar Yong replied to flee's topic in General Aviation
Gosh - 615 pax. Luggage waiting time will be 2 hrs! -
The website is still not up and running. Let's wait!

Max stay of 12 months - it is not that bad if I am a student looking for a return ticket with a year's validity. KUL-BKI return is RM494, and KUL-KBR return is RM552. This is even more puzzling!

Lion Air and NADI announced a JV - Malindo Air

I thk Malindo's seats are rather comfortable - the pitch is certainly more generous than MH's 738. -
MAS A380 - Fleet to be Retained
Lim Kar Yong replied to Mohd Azizul Ramli's topic in General Aviation
Strange way of cancelling one of the flights which falls on different days of the month - one Wed, one Thu and 2 Tuesdays. Is this due to aircraft rotation? -
Just checked in my flight MH4 to LHR. Everything looks normal, doesn't even feel that today marks the beginning of MAB. Really low key! Was told by the check in agent that the flight is overbooked - must be students movement?
-
Could this be due to the flight path? For example, I will be flying MH 3 on 1 Sept (the first long haul flight for the new airline!). When I bought the ticket, the timing was STD 1010 STA 1620. Then this was updated to STD 0950 and STA 1620 , and a couple of weeks ago, I received another update that the timing is now revised to STD 0950, STA 1630. The flight time is getting longer!

New international airport in Kelantan?
Lim Kar Yong replied to Y. J. Foo's topic in General Aviation
Guano pulok! I think there is still room for the KBR terminal to be expanded further. The site for the old terminal (I think it is used for an aviation training school) could still be used. Granted that KBR is rather busy, but seriously, do we need an airport in Machang that is so far away? Pengkalan Chepa is only 15 min drive to city centre! -

Need some advice on flying through Europe

I bought my flights from LH website for KUL-SIN-FRA-VIE . I could not check in online. Maybe because it involved MH for the KUL-SIN sector. I had to check in at MH counter in KLIA then collect my BP at LH transfer counters at Changi. I could only select my seats during the booking process. -

55 min in FRA is ok. No need visa for Malaysians for Schengen. If your bags are tagged all the way to KUL from TLS, then there is no need to recheck in your bags. On your return sector, you will arrive from TLS at FRA in the Schengen "domestic" gates - make your way to the departure gates outside of EU, and you will go through immigration before you arrive at the "international" gates. -

You sould be given your boarding passes to your final destination at KLIA. But at times, this may not be the case, so you might have to pick up your Luthansa boarding passes at the transit desk in Changi. This happened to me once. I was on KUL-SIN-FRA-VIE flights. The KUL-SIN section was by MH and KLIA could only issue me the boarding pass to SIN, and I had to go to the Luthansa transfer desk to pick up the boarding passes for the remaining sectors. When you arrive FRA, you will go through immigration first before you could conenct to your departure gates for all Schengen flights, and this would be your case for your flight to TLS. It is not a difficult airport, straightforward, just follow the sigs to your depatrure gate. You might have to check the screen at FRA for your departure gate to TLS. There might be a bit of walk As for your return flight, it should be ok for 55 min transit flight at Changi. I have done it with 45min transit time, and it was transit in between T2 and T3. Should you miss your connecting flight at Changi to KUL, no worries - you will be put on the next flight - that also happened to me once. Hope this helps -

2 class 615 seater A380 - gulp!! Air Asia configuration? 11-abreat on lower deck and 9-abreast on upper deck? -
I will be flying on MH4 on 1 Sept, the day of the inauguration of the new airline - wonder what will be in store? Don't know what to expect as well.

Malaysia Airlines Online Check-In "upgrade"
Lim Kar Yong replied to Timothy's topic in General Aviation
I encountered some problems with enrich redemption by using safari (even disabling the pop-up blocker) - the new page could not load in safari, and I had to use Chrome to do it. I wonder if the some of the codes in the website for safari may have some bugs? -
Once a week to Perth? Can this be sustained or would it be better to cancel the service entirely?

On a recent MEL-KUL flight, the crew didnt serve hot drinks as the seat beat sign was on - like forever. I spoke to the crew and was told that they have to adhere strictly to "no hot drinks" while fasten seat belt sign is on. Perhaps MH has different service standard? I have been on other airlines that continue to serve hot drinks even while the seat belt sign is on!

Firefly Introduces Fly Basic and Premier
Lim Kar Yong replied to Mr.Bandit's topic in General Aviation
It is 2 hrs before departure. I remembered arriving early at T2 once, and I was hoping to change to an earlier flight but was told I could not. And I could not check in as well for my flight as it only opened 2 hrs before scheduled departure time. Tour around Changi lah!
