  1. Just got back from the airport after fetching my mom who's returning from EWR this morning. She asked me if MAS had painted their plane blue ? Of course I wasn't surprised that she asked but was more so because she said she came in that blue plane. Thought I'd share this info with you all that MRD is now being used to EWR and ARN.
  2. Yes I did fly the A319 from LHR-AMS but A320 on the AMS-LHR sector. Oh what a miss.....it was cloudy up there when we took off !!!
  3. KUL- KUA also not good ? Surprising !!!!!! Always full to the brim, but then again its a matter of yield and etc etc...
  4. What about FRA ? Are they doing badly on that route ? Unprofitable perhaps ? AMS, LHR and CDG sounds good but it will be sad to see the other cities go but we may see AF & CO start flights into KUL and KL increase frequencies to KUL from AMS. Good news if thats the case !!!! Keith, What negotiations were there between MH and BA ? What was the objective laa ?
  5. Good news !!! Hope they can gain something from this meeting and hopefully alliance and strengthen their presence.
  6. This could also mean that the LHR route may have some reduction because if I am not mistaken, it was routed through PEN and LGK to get additional slots in LHR. Any ideas ??
  7. Yes good but the bad news is they have restructured some key issues and looks like they havent announced the full report yet. But I think the new plans are over some period of time and not an immediate turnaround plan. But lets hope MH sustains its good service and inflight service and products.
  8. Strangely enough, the routes mentioned thus far are the new routes such as CCU, AMD, CTU, XIAN, VIE, FUK and many more which will be announced soon (dont know when)....but VIE has been repeatedly dropped and restarted several times and yet it seems that they are out again. I think the Austrians are not going to be pleased with this and MH will become an airline with a bad "rapo" once again. It may become a joke to the aviation field that they have the "now you see, now you don't" policy. I think they should just restructure some routes and their finances or simply cut/reduce some routes/ frequencies. VIE FUK EZE CPT FCO CTU XIAN (too lazy to find the code) CCU AMD KHI AOR RGN LAX EWR NRT MES SUB PNH SIEM REAP SGN
  9. Liam, My flight yesterday AK 5113 on AFC was heading to PEN after reaching KUL.
  10. Its no use being the first to open just to compete with SIN if the safety measures are not a priority. Lets hope all goes well for this new terminal.
  11. Adrian, It was amazing coz AK 5109 was delayed to 1800hours and my flight (AK5113) was scheduled at 1810hours; ten minutes apart. However, AK 5109 (B737) had some technical glitch and left after us, but unsure how long after. I saw the BI A319 land from Terminal 2 and it was nice to see something different from the AK and MH flights usually seen there. I was also impressed with the traffic in BKI; amazing!!!!!! Yes Pieter !!!! I like the A320 and A319 although the ones I have been on are pretty cramped. But the BA A320 that I travelled on after meeting you in AMS was superb. It was very comfy and elegant!!!!! The AK A320 is also good as mentioned but too cramped.
  12. Sad sad news.....but FRA should remain and so should ADL. If its true that FRA is to be dropped, then LH may make it big here. As for ADL, it may give way to EK to start that route, after months of rumours about the route. I forgot to mention that there may be a revamp in the domestic routes and operations.
  13. I just returned from a flight to BKI and back. Both sectors were on an A320, to my surprise !!!!! It was awesome !!!!! I left KUL to BKI on 24/2 on AFD and returned today on AFC (Manchester United). What a pleasant surprise. Plane is ordinary like any other but looked more high tech than AK's other aircrafts.
  14. Its always a speculation for all these to-be-announced news. Here is my few cents worth :- Reduction or suspension in services to these routes :- NRT FUK NGO DEL CCU AMD CTU VIE FCO MAN ARN EWR LAX EZE CPT and many more........but lets hope they can come up with some plan to sustain these routes to retain a world class airline with great profits!!!!
  15. Ok its getting out of control now people....its an aviation forum, not a political forum to share views here !!!!! Now back to the topic, when is ETIHAD starting their services to KUL ? I heard they have begun MNL since yesterday
  16. I just came across this news article about GULF AIR and thought it may interest you people. Also, it looks like they are reducing their freq to KUL. Check www.amadeus.net. http://www.bernama.com.my/aviation_news/ne...=179216&lang=en Gulf Air To Start Direct Flights To Oman February 08, 2006 15:17 PM KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- Airline company, Gulf Air, will be launching direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Muscat, Oman beginning March 28 this year. In a statement here Wednesday, Gulf Air said that the ongoing development of Gulf Air's network was in response to customer preferences for increased, non-stop and frequent access to growing business and leisure destinations and its expansion plan to popular regional and international routes. "With the growing bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Gulf in business and tourism, we believe that the time is right to focus on Muscat," said Gulf Air's general manager for Malaysia and Brunei, Lindsay White. "Business and leisure travellers now have a unique opportunity to fly direct to the Gulf from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and avoid the need to transit via Bangkok, usually associated with journeys to the Middle East region," she added. The new Muscat service will start with three flights per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Gulf Air is operated by Airbus A340 aircraft, where it also provides onward connections within the Gulf Air network that extends across the Middle East and Westbound to Europe. -- BERNAMA
  17. Yes I only realized it after you pointed it out.....so there is still no explanation to the low flying....!!
  18. Awesome shots of the LCC Terminal......but kinda dull colours used for the building....anything extraordinary about the building ???
  19. Several Flights From KLIA Disrupted Tuesday Morning February 07, 2006 21:35 PM KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Several flights out of the KL International Airport (KLIA) to various destinations, both local and international, were disrupted and delayed due to problems with the airport's Passenger Check-In processing System (PCPS). Malaysia Airports (Sepang) Sdn Bhd said in a statement Tuesday, the disruption was discovered at 3am when the Malaysia Airlines' (MAS) communication equipment to their Departure Control System (DCS) failed to function, affecting all MAS flights as well as airlines handled by MAS. Separately, MAS said in a statement that its DCS at the KLIA was temporarily inoperational this morning after a routine power supply test conducted by the airport operator. It said the DCS could not reactivate when the power supply test was completed, thus disrupting its interface with the airport operator's PCPS system between 3 and 9.28 am. "Malaysia Airlines extends its apologies to all customers for the discomfort experienced during this disruption." Malaysia Airports said other airlines were not affected by the disruption. The PCPS was restored at 9.28am and all Malaysia Airlines Check-In Counters' operation were back to normal by 11am. Both MAS and Malaysia Airports technical and ground staff are still on full stand-by to monitor the system and the passenger movement. According to Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy, the disruption did not involve foreign airlines operating in KLIA and the airport authority had taken all efforts to rectify the problem. However, like MAB and MAS, Chan refused to reveal the number of flights delayed due to the technical problem other than saying that "a few flights had been delayed". "We are taking steps to rectify it, only MAS flights are affected, the foreign flights are not affected," Chan told reporters after attending the MCA Presidential council meeting. Chan is the MCA Deputy President. Some airlines' agents and staff told Bernama that between seven to 25 flights were delayed this morning, involving a total of about 5,000 passengers, forcing airlines, mostly MAS to reschedule their departure time. "The backlog were slowly cleared off from 9.30 onward and until noon, only several flights are still waiting for their turn to depart. All the delayed flights has been cleared off by this afternoon," Chan said. Chan had instructed MAB to submit a report on the incident to his office, Wednesday morning before the cabinet meeting. Asked if the government would replace the current check-in system called PCPS at KLIA, he said: "It is on-going. Following this morning's incident, I think all efforts should be carried out to rectify it". Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd has been reported to have signed a five-year contract with a new partner, Sita Inc (Societe Internationale de telecommunications Aeronauitiques Information Networking Computing) in September last year to equip KLIA with the latest technologies for common-use check-in systems. With the signing of the new contract, PCPS is expected to be phased out by next month. -- BERNAMA Here is the answer to my own question about the possible reasons for this mishaps....but it has happened several times before.....is everything ok with the DCA and its tools ????
  20. It is indeed sad but I guess Temasek is trying its best to get AK out of the picture of in SEAsia. How crappy is that !!!
  21. I was just wondering what is the route for aircrafts to fly so low in the city centre area and whats the guidelines. The past two days and even last night, as I was driving past Jalan Tun Razak in KL, I saw many aircrafts, passing at a very low level over the city and it was rather strange. Has this got something to do with the DCA or just a coincidence in the many pilots flying low consistently ?
  22. I know the GA flight from KUL to SIN is a flight that continues on to JOGJAKARTA.
