  1. This is definitely the Endgame for MH if it happens.
  2. This is the problem with Malaysians, being too exam oriented and always want to be No. 1 in class. If you are No.2 or beyond, one is considered a Jaguh Kampung. Critical Thinking? I hope one day you get attached to any local aviation industry at the forefront and see for yourself. Then you may want to rethink this remark.
  3. Seems clear to me OD is still unsure of their business strategy. Let's hope the new team led by CEO Capt Mushafiz could put things into better perspective.
  4. Off topic, seems to me Malaysia is doing well on the tourism front. So this answers the question to those who say otherwise. The numbers have spoken.
  5. Makes me wonder why its working with everyone else besides AK. Don't see OD or MH complaining, and why would the government stop any companies from making it big. If its one entity that made AK where it is right now that should be thanked is the Govt, be it with BN or PH. Seems like they dont work well with either side of the political coin. Maybe its time they actually sort other means then taking it down to the social media. To me its just free publicity or marketing tactics to put AKs name on the media every now and then. Indeed right, my point exactly.
  6. Its not that the whole Tourism-Transportation(Airline) ecosystem in Malaysia is poorly managed. Just that others around this region are doing better. There are some areas in which both Ministries are doing a good job. If not AirAsia would not have been where they are today without the support from MOT, MAHB and the other Govt stakeholders. Maybe TF should work together rather than having his infamous bash first talk later policy. Sometimes I kinda feel its down to free publicity for AK having all this news popping out in news feed every now and then. I still see AirAsia growing every single day even with all the "limitation" as they claim to have. Yes indeed KLIA2 could be better but I'm kinda getting bored with AK constantly pointing fingers everywhere.
  7. Sometimes i wonder why MH is still operating this once a week service.Loads have never been good on this sector.
  8. MH - JL partnership on the way, there are always ways to work around it. Besides MH doing kinda well on NRT sector, hence no urgency on high cost HND slots. There are other issues plaguing MH instead of securing lucrative slots at this time.
  9. MASwings can count their days if Sarawak govt takes over. Even AirAsia can't seem to make KCH work for international routes especially to North Asia. Sabah is totally a different story, the number of many foreign airlines flying into BKI speaks for itself.
  10. It's a national day event. Tell me which country doesn't do this? You have not seen other countries national day event NOTAMs on airspace closure for this sort of celebrations. There will be disruptions whether you like it or not. Be patriotic.
  11. If the pax is smart enough to reach the airport I dont the pax will be lost looking for check in counters. What's the worst thing could go wrong? Probably be redirected to the correct check in counter.
  12. Sarawakians from Miri, Sibu, Kuching and Bintulu are going to love this. Many of them working in the O&G and hospitality sector in Brunei.
  13. If the company is taking up new fresh orders. Otherwise bulk of those purchases came from leasing houses. Which means, new A320neo's are available on the lease market. Just that the price might not be attractive.
  14. Of late, no extra charge for requesting seats via check in staff at the counter. However, subject to availability. Nowadays I also noticed if you are checking in as a group or more than 1 guest, assuming you didn't opt for online check-in. Its getting more common on MH that your seats will be separated by the system. Even on the same booking PNR and on flights which are not full. Not sure if this is done on purpose but that's how it is lately. Good example if you try out the check in kiosk, highly likely you will be separated. However, the check in staff will override the system to seat the group together at the counter but this is annoying, the reason of having the kiosk is to avoid counter check ins.
  15. Noticed a significant drop in pax numbers at East Malaysia mainly at airports fully operated by MH's RAS operator. Mulu, Limbang, Lahad Datu, STOL Sabah and STOL Sarawak. Its either lesser people are travelling between those airports or Maswings having operational reliability issues. TWU doing well due to massive increase of PRC pax via BKI/KUL and also introduction of OD on the BKI-TWU vv sector. AK too have added frequencies. For SZB, believed to be due to temporary suspension of SIN flights by FY due to the Seletar ILS fiasco. Things should improve this after resumption of service to SIngapore (XSP).
  16. Lets see how the big 3 approve its license. MOT/MAVCOM/CAAM.
  17. If the government is keen to help MAB, why do they (prev govt) consented to giving out AOC/ASP/ASL to Malindo Air, knowing it will eat up the rakyats own taxpayer money by chewing off the small Malaysian Aviation market share? We are a country with a population of 32m which is sandwiched and handicapped between 2 major aviation hubs i.e BKK and SIN. Malaysia just need 2 major airlines. AK/D7 to lead as LCC and a government owned national airline to serve the FSC market (MH). There is no need for a 3rd carrier. Be like Singapore where you only got 2 major airline groups. Govt owned SIA group (SQ, Scoot, Silk, SQ cargo) and Jetstar (which is btw 10% owned by SIA's parent company Temasek group). The govt should consider making MH and Malindo to be merged into 1 entity where both can serve different segments of the market with different product offerings, i.e serving the cost sensitive and the niche full service high yield market.
  18. Not sure about MH, but AK is enjoying healthy loads between BKI-HKG operating 2x a day.
  19. Same old same old. Newco MAB was suppose to be a fresh start. New brand, new image and a whole new company. Looks like it never changed a bit since 31st Aug 2015 besides 3 CEOs in less than 4 years.
  20. The government will be very careful this time issuing any regulatory approvals given the number of failures lately, i.e Rayani, Suasa, Silverfly and the rest of league. Having said that, the local airline industry is already saturated with 3 big players namely AK, MH and OD. All of them are growing at a different pace and will surely attempt to experiment new routes. Why need another one. Sarawak has a lot of other internal priorities to be worried about namely basic infrastructure within the rural areas. Having a state owned airline is surely an egoistic decision and will not make any economical sense at all. If you the state have got something good to offer, business travelers and tourist will find their own way there.
  21. The sarcasm here really made my day. You guys are awesome.
  22. Well put it his way, airlines will definitely make an effort to fly into a destination which is economically viable and can provide sustainable breakeven numbers or able to feed onto their network. Its simple economics, yet the Sarawak State Govt fail to recognize this and blame other local airlines (MH, AK and OD) for not offering direct services. We should applaud AK for experimenting some destinations out of KCH which have failed, at least they tried. It just cannot work hence why AK axed them. This has got nothing to do with MAHB, airlines have their pax "algorithm" to know how many pax are moving or connecting from one place to another to decide if its more profitable to operate direct services or rather create feeder service from another hub. This is the case for Sarawak. The State Tourism Board, local economic affairs dept and all of the other relevant stakeholders should promote their destination well first only then convince the likes of MAHB and lobby airlines to create direct routes once the numbers make sense. Creating their own "Sarawak Airline" seems like the easy way out which is indeed a financial suicide as mentioned here before. As the saying goes, "If you want to become a millionaire, you need to be a billionaire first and start your own airline".
  23. Maswings don't really have the right equipment to compete on sectors head on with operators who fly jets. The aging ATRs are always plagued with technical defects and uncomfortable rides in not so nice weather. Especially in Borneo where the weather can be quite challenging. Its about time Maswings switch to regional/narrowbody jets in case they want to explore sectors beyond whats in their PSO agreement. Unlike FY who are have the Subang advantage, Maswings don't.
  24. MASwings is a PSO carrier now, operating non-commercial basis except for BKI-LAC-BKI and TWU-TRK-TWU. Hence routes that they operate at the mercy of MAVCOM/MOT/CAAM. They are more of an entity created to service specific target of passengers where it is not commercially viable to ensure connectivity between those subsidized ports. Besides, AK have increased their frequency to SDK to cater the loss of capacity from MW's pullout. Infact capacity has grown between BKI-SDK, BKI-TWU and BKI-MYY served by other operators (including newly launched BKI-TWU by Malindo). Don't see any negative impact from this. Makes me wonder where was all those reporters when this decision was announced back in late 2018 . Everyone knew this would be coming.
  25. Having crew based in BKI is certainly the most logical plan for MH, besides they already have Maswings operating out of BKI on behalf of the group. Upgauge that unit to become a LCC operating jets to North Asia would solve the gap.
