LGK sights

Recommended Posts

Did a daytrip to LGK yesterday, and it was a bad day, esp. for AK. A lot of their flights were 'retimed'. My KUL-LGK at 1020 retimed to 1245, return LGK-KUL at 2015 retimed to 2300. For the return leg the plane from KUL actually landed 2315, and by 2335 we were taxiing for take-off! When I arrived KUL around 0045, I saw the arrival/departure FID still full of AK flights, almost all retimed. I saw ppl sleeping on the pavement. Wonder what happened to their ops yesterday.

Anyway, here're are my casual catches at LGK as I arrived.

M28-01. What is that detached thing under the tail?

AFQ returns to KUL.

And this while, a big eagle is chasing smaller birds next to the runway.

The thing under the tail of the F28 is the speedbrake.

I don't know exactly what happened with AK operation, but hazards a guess. Now KUL is back to single runway ops again, so their quick turnaround plan at KUL doesn't work.

Thanks for the speedbrake clue, Radzi.

Actually I received SMSs about my flights' retiming the night before, i.e about 10.30pm 27/6. So AK was aware of disruptions even the night before. I thought just mine, seems the others too.

Thank you, sir. Ahem, what's your connection with M28-01?

Btw, this is another shot of it landing at LGK. Looks steep, like space shuttle landing. :)

And yes, ppl have a swell time taking pics, esp. with a pretty plane.

I notice a long 'scratch' on the fuselage. Wonder what caused it?

Very nice looking plane and hope to fly and take pics of it one of these days.

It must be very hot spotting at the perimeter fence. I've done that and got sunburnt after 15 minutes! But it was special i.e. one of the last MH 007 flights from LHR to KUL via LGK which I later took. No more regular scheduled B747s at LGK.

Heheheh ... anyway bell bottoms were the fashion statement of the 70s, and a 'hanging' bell bottom is a sin, right, Norman?

Back to LGK sights, such as these? ;)

Sorry for hijacking your thread, Naim, but since I visited LGK on the 18th of June for just one day, I thought to share my pictures here :pardon:

Unfortunately no MW-members at MHA were (able to) meet(ing) me :(

9M-LGK was my 'Dutch Lady' transportation from PEN to LGK:

Approaching the beautiful island of Langkawi (nice secluded beaches):

Gear-down was selected twice on my flight; don't know whether this had to do with a problem or missed-approach (we made a 360 over left after the 1st gear-up):

LGK is home of HMA for the cadet training:

Surprised to see an A330 at LGK on the MH-flight from KUL:

Followed by the Bus of Air Asia (and before the weather turned foul):

During a heavy downpour, Foxtrot-Quebec came in from KUL:

Next........BKI :)
