Malindo Gets Nod to Fly to Jeddah

Recommended Posts

No, not the test registration. Their fleet registration:

Lion Air:

A330 starts with PK-LEF onwards

B739ER starts with PK-LFF onwards

Malindo fleet also starts with:

ATR72: 9M-LMF onwards

B739ER: 9M-LNF onwards

B738: 9M-LNM onwards

Thai Lion Air:

B738: HS-LUH onwards

B739ER: HS-LTJ onwards

I also wonder why start with F...

PK-LEH is their third A330 actually. One more to be delivered. MSN 1683.

I am curious as to why Lion Air always start their registration with Foxtrot....

Yes, it is their third - my mistake!

F for First?

Malindo Air (OD, Kuala Lumpur Int'l) has been granted Saudi Arabian traffic rights by the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) thus confirming reports earlier this year that the Lion Airlines (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) subsidiary was considering entering the longhaul market.

MAVCOM said in a statement that it had permitted Malindo Air to operate seven scheduled flights per week between Kuala Lumpur Int'l and Jeddah effective December of this year. The airline has yet to comment on the allocation.

Malindo Air operates eleven ATR72-600s, fourteen B737-800s, and six B737-900(ER)s on flights to fifteen countries including Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China, Australia, and Taiwan. Additional route allocations have also been granted for Yangon, Myanmar (4x weekly from November) and Phnom Penh, Cambodia (7x weekly from August).

An Airbus A330-300, MSN 1816 is currently being built for Malindo - perhaps, this aircraft will be used for this service.

If OD opt for 33-34' seat pitch on A330 with 2-4-2 seating configuration would be a plus ( my wishful thinking). Similar to what Oman Air did to their A330.

The a330 would be an unknown quantity. Because even Batik dont have their own a330. And dont know if it'll be Batik tail or Lion's head tail. Hopefully the seat pitch is as good as in their 738s. Cant wait.

Most likely to have Batik tail.

Would be very interested to see what their business class product will be - it shd be better than the B737's.

Economy class should be 2-4-2 with not less than 32" seat pitch.

Contrary to popular belief, only OD 739 features a true 32" seat pitch in Y. Actual seat pitch in Y on the 738 is less than the advertised 32".
