What s up with Mh past 4 days in AKl?

Drove past by Air New Zealand Hangar just now and there was a MH A330 there.Air NZ does not use A330's so no spares I guess.

Any info?

Awaiting spare parts. Tyre burst on landing. The debris knockout few hydraulics lines n flaps system. Should be not more than 5 more days

thanks Wee.

On that note,MH should start a MRO facility here in AkL for Airbus airbus planes, then they can use their own facility and also hawaiain air

A330 is also a frequent visitor to the hangar, china southern also utilises A330 and of course multiple A380s that are seen daily here 3 EK and 1 SQ could need some support as well.

Not sure if MH is in the mood for anything that doesn't cut costs right now...

Malaysia Airlines could have done an Airbus MRO centre in either SZB or KUL, servicing all Asia Pacific region.

With many years of experience dealing with Airbus family of jets, relatively low cost compared to other countries in the region and skillful and multi-lingual engineers that MH has (or used to have), MH would have earn big bucks. Unfortunately the boat has sailed long ago. Airbus has set up partnership with SIA Engineering. Boeing as well with them.

What a missed opportunity!

As the aircraft landed and burst its tyres, maybe it was indeed a cliff-hangEr for the plane-spotters near the runway on that eventful day...

Takes more than a burst tyre to excite a Kiwi! Anyway, reckon most of them are glued to their TVs with the Rugby World Cup!
