Zamir 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2011 AirAsia Says Load Factor Good, No Fuel Surcharge KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 (Bernama) -- Low cost carrier, AirAsia Bhd, says robust load factor has helped the airline compensate rising fuel cost and therefore does not see a need to impose fuel surcharge. Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes said the airline's load factor remained very good at 81 per cent in the first quarter. "We have not seen any slowdown in demand. In terms of the second quarter (of) this year versus the second quarter of last year, forward sales still looks quite strong," he told reporters on the sidelines of the "Invest Malaysia 2011" conference here today. Fernandes said the listing of its Thai and Indonesian units this year remained on track. "They may be listed at the same time because they are reaching out to different sources of capital," he said. -- BERNAMA Airasia Says Load Factor Good,No Fuel Surcharge
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2011 Latest from AK: [Announcement] AirAsia Fuel Surcharge effective 3 May 2011 by AirAsia on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 6:06pm Dear fans, please be informed that AirAsia will be reintroducing fuel surcharges beginning 3 May 2011 for all domestic and international routes. The reintroduction of fuel surcharge by AirAsia is to offset the escalating jet fuel, which has exceeded USD$140 per barrel The rising jet fuel prices and the continuous upward spiral caused by the situation in the Middle East and other external factors, have made it imperative for us to reintroduce the fuel surcharge, despite our best efforts to resist it for as long as we could. We hope that this will only be a temporary measure, and AirAsia will continue to ensure our fares remain low despite the fuel surcharge, which is the lowest in the world. While other carriers were already adjusting fares and increasing fuel and admin charges to counter rising operating costs when jet fuel price went above USD$100 per barrel on 2 March this year, the strong growth of our ancillary income has helped us delay the implementation of fuel surcharge for as long as possible. As the people’s airline, we insist on being transparent and decided to announce to our guests on the reintroduction of fuel surcharge. AirAsia remains committed to its low-cost model and will not transfer the full cost of the fuel price hike to its guests, choosing instead to counter the spike by aggressively growing revenue through ancillary products and services. Our recent partnership with Expedia, the world’s largest online travel agency and other initiatives currently in the pipeline will further increase our revenue from ancillary income. AK, QZ, FD flights: between RM10-30, D7: RM 50-RM90 All flight bookings made before May 3 will not be affected by the fuel surcharge. So book your flight now on AirAsia.com to avoid paying fuel surcharge from now till May 3! BC Tam 2 Report post Posted April 30, 2011 In AK's case against relocating from T2 (current) to T1 BKI, it was said the more expensive airport tax (increase @rm3 domestic, @rm26 international) will be so deadly towards AK's traffic at BKI So now with imposition of this fuel surcharge (@10 domestic, @20-30 international) - sure die lah

BC Tam 2 Report post Posted May 4, 2011 looks the same to me Looks amazingly identical - even to the splodges of gravy overspill on left rim of foil tray Very impressive consistency in food presentation
flee 5 Report post Posted May 4, 2011 They do increase!... by a 100ml water cup/bottle . They inform me so by email for my next June flight. I think the water is a downgrade. It used to be 500 ml, then 350 ml. Now it is 100 ml. Not sure why they are bragging about the water. Combo meal means meal plus drink. And the drink has been getting progressively smaller! JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2011 The Nasi Bryani got more spice-er.....100ml water is not enough to quench the spicyness....
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted May 6, 2011 Food made spicier/sweeter coupled with reduction in volume of water accompanying meal Sales of bottled water must therefore increase Wow, those ancilliary income people are more than worth their salt ! Crude prices crashed yesterday - any indication if fuel surcharge can done away with anytime soon ?
KK Lee 5 Report post Posted May 18, 2011 "We've proven the model," he said of the airline that has grown from 2 two planes to around 100 planes, and there is "great upside" for AirAsia, even after the marked increase in its share price, as it continues to extract even more "ancillary" revenue from passengers for things like food and insurance. AirAsia now extracts $16 of such revenue per passenger, up from $5 in the past. http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20110517-712602.html
