iwan 3 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 i thought they didnt allow public on the gripen simulator and the next thing i know i group of kids were allowed on it.the crowd was too big.it was hard to request for stuffs and get good pictures with a crowd that big.envy those lucky guys who got to enter during trade days.baim, this includes you! got a gripen NG poster and a gripen pin from the SAAB booth though.btw, here are some more pics of static planes for those who couldnt go. the MkM getting ready for takeoff.note the left thrust vectoring nozzle being activated.took many pictures of them testing the thrust vectoring engines.not sure lah if they were really testing or just 'displaying' them for the public to see. the MiG-29N from two different angles.gonna miss this plane.. MkM rear pilot taking a peek at the crowd. the RSAF longbow apache. anyone has any idea what this is?looks like an external fuel tank but looks quite large to be one. closeup on the viper cockpit.. F-111 coming in after a short show with windows open due to a faulty air cond.. "bluekk bluekkk,im a pilot and ure not!" Giro who performed the morning show in the MkM..was very nice entertaining the crowd and their questions.. old vs new.. cockpit of the pilatus..not bad with the glass cockpit and ejection seat. MkM being pushed back for the afternoon display. pilot of the F-111 doing pre-flight checks.must have been drenched in sweat with the hot weather.. MiGs for the afternoon session love the way the MiG does the 'chute dumping' technique.releasing the chute followed by some thrust from the engine to blow it into the grass.looks super-cool! The intimidating MkM against the pilatus. the MkM returning after the performance. the rear pilot looking at the crowd and giving them a wave.. the MkM pilots chatting with ground crews.. did a few big mistakes in taking the pictures.since the planes were fast,i wasnt sure how much shutter speed was needed to get a good still image of the planes in the air.so i thought "wahh..if plane laju sure shutter speed also have to be syuper laju since weather was good and bright". this explains the apache pics which looked like a toy being thrown up into the sky. mistake no 2 was setting the ISO too high.since i set the shutter speed at 1/4000, setting the iso any lower then 800 would result in dark pictures.so most of my pictures had plenty of noise in them.disappointed really.. Ow Eng Tiong 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 This LIMA is Giro's last appearance as the Su-30 demo pilot. I had the honor of interviewing him before the show ended. He shared with me his childhood dream of becoming a pilot, his flying experiences and his love for Malaysia. Hopefully I can find a magazine willing to publish his story.
