Azman MN 1 Report post Posted December 21, 2005 TK came back to ZRH to bring me some more Kicap Tamin. Snowed quite a bit over the last weekend... then the clouds went away, we thought we would have perfect spotting weather, but then the fog came Don't know how to set the camera for this kind of shitty weather... a huge struggle even in post-processing. fog probably not even 100ft up... and snow everywhere... some planes almost totally camouflaged you've got to have some balls to be out there in the cold... AA landing on 14 and CO 767-400 in the background taking off from
Raj 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2005 Azman nice shots..Especially the A340..The colour o the planes blends in with the snow..

Radzi 2 Report post Posted December 22, 2005 Lovely pictures. Everybody can shoot in good weather; in snowy condition it is more difficult. Especially white on white; I think you will need exposure compensation around +1 stop.
TK 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2005 Thanks to Azman, He picked me up right after sun is up, which is around 0840. But the sun is no where to be found through out the day At minus 1.5 and 2 degree celcius...it was cold for us and we just click click click!!!!! We enjoyed the cold and chit chat. I remember what Azman said, its not cold if we have the right equipment. Good winter jacket, gloves and so on. Besides that, we had our camera exercise in the cold winter. Photo to come, i just woke up!!! slept from 1200-1700!!! Still sleepy though.
TK 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2005 Good Morning....i am still tired and sleepy. 11:30 hours flight from ZRH was OK. Nice tail wind, BUT light to moderate turbulence over India and Bay of Bengal. Spotting in ZRH with Azman was great fun.Tuesday 20th Dec 05 Thanks to him, he picked me up and we started with this!! total 5 hours spotting in the cold, with some break to have coffee and mcdonalds and some drinks at the end of the day. But on my arrival (18th Dec 05), there were few minutes of sun shines through my hotel window... I decided not to miss anything... Runway is clear of ICE and snow...but not all Icy, slippery taxiway didn't stop the operation in ZRH Unique airport Imagine this....most of the days that i go spotting, we see a jumbo takes off without realizing what had been blown off from a Jumbo taking off... Look at this SQ jumbo on take off roll......... Then....it snowed!!!!! An hour before MH 9 took off....snow starts to fall. I brought 9M-MRB as MH 10 that morning...now, she is leaving for sunny KUL Have a pleasant flight guys.... It snowed and i manage to capture her in the snow!!! what a day... what an experience again this time in ZRH....hope you guys enjoyed it...i did.

TK 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2005 Hotel is 10 mins drive from airport. Every 20 mins there would be a shuttle service to the airport. So jump on it anytime, then get to the Terrace or viewing terrace. Open air.... Goof stuff. Pay 2 Swiss Francs for entrance.
Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted December 22, 2005 Can confirm Unique airport Zurich is a very spotter's friendly airport; love to go there quite often, and in fact will be back there 21jan06 Hope, snow will still be there...would make some excellent reflection TK, love your AA 767-300 take-off picture: look at that wingflex as well The SQ 747 surely is a nice runway-cleaner: even the edges of the runway will be cleared this way Azman, Excellent A330 take-off picture in your 1st shot: look at the vortices and condensation over the wings....fabulous
Tze Shan 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2005 TK came back to ZRH to bring me some more Kicap Tamin. fog probably not even 100ft up... can explain more abt this phenomena?
TK 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2005 Nothing stop us from spotting in the cold winter ZRH we were the only 2 spotters at Heli Grill. No matter what is the light or weather condition, i still enjoy my time spotting. 4 Barrels of RR thrusting this TG A346 in a snowy condition This is the time i can shoot something different during low cloud base condition. ZRH airport is about 1440 feet Above sea level. The Power of Kicap Tamin is the secret for Azman and myself to brave the cold!!
