Berjaya Ais ATR 72-500 ...

Recommended Posts

Just stumbled over the first photo of Berjaya Air´s new ATR 72-500.

Just see: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Berjaya-Air...next_id=1499766

So, Berjaya´s Dash-7 era is going to end soon ...

The first one (still wearing factory registration F-WWEC) will become 9M-TAG

Looks good :good:

The Dash-7 will be around for awhile I think as the ATR can't operate out of Tioman and Pangkor. I heard the expansion plan for Tioman is off and no plans for expansion of Pangkor.

Met a Berjaya pilot doing ATR conversion in SZB. They're supposed to take delivery of the aircraft last week, but due to some problem, they haven't done so yet. Not sure of the nature of the problem though.

With this postponement does it affect FY and MasWing's delivery as well?

Why would they buy these if they cant operate at these two airports.

Any idea on the min landing/take off distance on a full load?

If Berjaya maintains their actual ticket price level and tries to compete with Firefly i don´t see them around for long ...

The runway length at Tioman is 3,254ft and Pangkor is 2,598ft. The runway length for ATR sea level MTW is 4,232ft.

In that case they should sprinkle some Atr 42 's into their fleet.

So where will they use the new aircraft?

USM (Koh Samui) with 4724ft rwy length. Do they still fly to USM?

edit: Yes they do..

Probably with spanking new aircraft, Berjaya is thinking of network expansion. Could be Phuket... Could be Batam ( ) ... Who knows...

Nice livery :)

I've been reading that the runway at Redang has just been extended. I dont have any further details. Maybe it will be able to take the new aircraft?
