Norman 1 Report post Posted January 28, 2009 Got meeting with the tower guys this afternoon... meeting ended around 5pm... and after teh tarik with them I went to 'Under the Tree' near 32L... Called Chaity... and warned me about being chased away... Ahhh... well... I need to 'flight-test' my 80-200 after the D-Check... but weather wasn't on my side... (it was bright & sunny during the meeting... ) So here's the first victim... Later Singapore 116 reported in... and here she is... by this time... metering was playing havoc with bright aircraft and very dark background.... Singapore reported slight windshear just before the treshold.. and cross wind on runway from the right between 25-30kts.. By 1750.... I can't see the tower anymore... and Tower relayed SQ's message to all arriving aircraft... plus heavy rain from mid-runway onward... I waited a while longer for Japan (Chaity said between 1800-1815) She arrived at 1754... and rain drops started to pound on my gears... Then I shot a couple more arrival from within my car... through an open window... one of them... Later... I saw a dark blue land rover coming towards me... but stopped at a car parked a distance away... I just 'beredar' from the spot before they arrive... and driving back in heavy rain with 300m visibilty...

Simon 3 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 3 reversers cause late nose gear touch down???
Walter Sim 1 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Maybe, IIRC they were only 2 reversers deplyoed, probably not on max reversal. not too sure. But his nose gear remained up for almost half of the landing roll.
Radzi 2 Report post Posted January 30, 2009 Maybe, IIRC they were only 2 reversers deplyoed, probably not on max reversal. not too sure. But his nose gear remained up for almost half of the landing roll. Normally for the classic B747 they use "inboard only" or "outboard only" if one of the reversers becomes unserviceable, to maintain symmetry. Also note that the speedbrakes were not deployed, that is why the nosewheel takes a long time to touch the runway. A normal thing with the B737 if we want to exit the runway at the end (C2) but may not be the safest way with a heavier B747.
