http://www.therakyatpost.com/business/2016/05/23/malaysia-airlines-getting-two-more-airbus-a350-planes/ KUALA LUMPUR, 23 May 2016: Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) has exercised a 12-year lease agreement for an additional two new Airbus A350-900s with Air Lease Corporation (ALC), which will be delivered by 2018. The transaction is pursuant to the option provided under the existing lease agreement for four A350-900s signed by both parties in September last year, it said in a statement today. “The additional two Airbus A350-900s will complement the existing four that is on order to reach a critical fleet size, allowing standby aircraft for any scheduled maintenance and enabling future network expansion,” said MAB chief executive officer Christoph Mueller. Powered by two Rolls Royce Trent XWB-84 engines, the A350 aircraft are from ALC’s order book with Airbus. “Technological and innovative advancements make flying this aircraft a real pleasure and it will bring a whole new experience to our offerings, with the aircraft able to operate non-stop from Kuala Lumpur to London and throughout Asia.”

Tourism Malaysia chief loses cool over AirAsia bunting at Beijing expo KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 ― Wee Choo Keong allegedly lashed out at his staff yesterday during the 4th China (Beijing) International Tourism Expo 2016 after seeing that an AirAsia bunting was put up alongside other promotional materials at Tourism Malaysia’s booth. A source familiar with the matter claimed that Wee, who is Tourism Malaysia chairman, publicly berated the staff responsible and ordered the bunting removed. After it was placed backstage, however, the former federal lawmaker allegedly broke the bunting before telling his staff to remove all items associated with AirAsia. Malay Mail Online understands that the low-cost airline was invited to attend the exhibition and Wee was there for the opening ceremony. “We confirm the incident that took place at the 4th China International Tourism Expo 2016 in Beijing (on Friday) and we are very disappointed with what happened,” a spokesperson from AirAsia told Malay Mail Online when contacted. Malay Mail Online has made attempts to contact Wee over the matter and is currently awaiting his response. Wee has in the past openly attacked AirAsia over its alleged airport tax debt of more than RM50 million. The former PKR man has taken his grouses to Twitter and to his blog, accusing Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and the Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) of failing to hold the airline responsible to its obligations. In July last year, AirAsia Berhad filed a defamation suit against Wee over his blog post on the issue, also accusing him of regularly publishing many false and disparaging statement in its blog www.weechookeong.com. - See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/tourism-malaysia-chief-loses-cool-over-airasia-bunting-at-beijing-expo#sthash.mtxdR9iy.dpuf

MAS B772 Fleet Decommissioned on 27 January 2016
David.W replied to alberttky's topic in General Aviation
oh. I can see it making sense now. All long haul will be 380 and 333. Longest Asian flight is to Japan which is also 333. Hence no need for the 777? I have forgotten that PEK gets the 333 now Once CDG and AMS goes, the only route the A330 300 can't reach is LHR That means no more old 777 seats -
why is it half mast or was that picture from mh370/17
-
dont forget rebranding is not small and there will be lots of old branding remaining for at least a few months.
