  1. oh no!!!!!!! my worst suspicions have been confirmed. its not just regional flights that have their catering chopped to bits...\ i have just returned on MH001 from LHR arriving today. Over the last ten years i have travelled the route, MH have been serving consistently excellent meals - twice per flight with abundant snacks, ice cream and drinks. (this is economy la by the way). yesterdays flight was a joke. lovely crew (a few really gorgeous ones like nadhirah [i think]) ... catering was substandard. it looked like a microwaveable ready meal - very pitiful quantities - food tasted below average and was seriously lacking the usual malaysian selection (e.g. nasi lemak for breakfast and nice curry/rice/veg for dinner). desert was dry and looked cheap. no cheese during main course (not even the small spreadable one)... and lo behold - tiny snack box in between meals with mini pringles, small muffin, cheese/crackers... it is really bad. the mat salleh next to me was unhappy since he paid GBP1300 for his Y ticket!!! could have gone business class on qatar... its a sad fact but MH will definitely drop out of the 5 star league soon. then again, who cares about what skytrax thinks?
  2. What a stupid thing to say about a very serious lapse in security. I cannot believe he told that to the singapore media. it is not a joke! and yes, they are supermorons. that's all you can say. I don't even think there are real police officers in KLIA. aren't they auxillaries rather than proper policemen? security is really poor - there is NO visible show of force. terrorists will have a field day if they decide to attack KLIA. All the major british airports have patrolling police officers with assault rifles.
  3. he was probably a security guard at the world's best airport (for 15-25 million/year category) with the second tallest tower in the world (maybe that's why they didn't see him) and the first and largest LCCT in Asia (more like a kandang kerbau than anything). how embarassing... do you guys remember the hijacking of SQ117 in 1989? or was it 113? the pakistani terrorists boarded at SZB....what a blow to the airport's security screening.
  4. exactly - once KUL-SIN route opens up - the winner will be SIN and their airlines, Tony fernandez. As Keno says - QF is the second largest operator in SIN - handling 2 million pax/year. SIN and SQ are not afraid to open up and face the competition because they know SQ will be able to hold its own. Anytime. The manja airline MH will be the biggest loser as they have been protected so far and bailed out on many occasions. Liberalisation will kill them off. Just like proton. To N Azman.. Somehow i felt that your comments were directed at me. Don't get me wrong - I am NOT a business class traveller OR a premium traveller who likes latte in special chinaware. I don't agree to MH increasing prices and reverting to el cheapo tactics. If you pay a high price, you should EXPECT high quality service. WHAT i DON'T like is Tony's insistent nagging that he is doing all of us a favour. He's NOT. This is for himself. If a few of us gain by having cheap tickets - fine. In general - ticket prices are still HIGH, especially if you're a last minute traveller. Not everyone is lucky that they can plan their year's journey in advance and list it on their profile. In my line of work - you take your break when you can, if you can. I can't afford expensive tickets either...
  5. poor guy ... kesian la dia, MH. He's a poor chap trying to make a living. All he wants is two measly A320 flights a day. Nothing more. He wants to beraya in Singapore too. MH and SQ are so selfish la. hahahahaha It won't stop once he gets two flights a day. don't listen to his bull s#1t. i've heard it all before!
  6. hahah..somehow i think good ol' tony is very good friends with the higher ups in the government - look at how they handled the RAS scandal. - i'm not surprised if AK becomes the FLAG CARRIER for Malaysia.
  7. oh my god - they are closing ticket offices in towns? didn't realise this. they must be stupid. cutting costs in the wrong places. i'm sure more money would be saved getting rid of the managers and con-sultants who seem to be destroying this airline from inside.
  8. 60% of locals love it? Of course - they paid good money for it. They were probably expecting orange juice or something like that. If they take other airlines like TG, SQ or GA - they probably won't want to take MH again. The westerners are used to snack boxes and sandwiches on regional european flights. I think they would prefer sandwiches to curries or rice. Some of them can't understand how i can eat nasi goreng or nasi lemak for breakfast. all you need is give them a box of cereal and some milk. agree with Rozhan. anyways - where are the results from? it looks like some random numbers made up by the managers or CON-sultans.
  9. you're right KK - this is the problem with MH. it tries to expand but it chooses its route wrongly and uses low frequencies which will not endear itself to the business travellers - therefore most routes will become filled with low yielding leisure passengers like myself. then they add ridiculous scheduling to the mix - presto! another loss making route. they have the advantage of a loyal fan base, good aircraft with great IFE and routes covering all continents. BUT still they can't adjust their schedules to allow their own flights to connect easily at KUL. why are MH so stupid? they must pay big bucks for people to come up with these schedules...even if you have no bloody clue how to do them - can't they at least copy another successful airline like Emirates or even closer to home, SQ (even though they might 'lose face')? Don't be proud - if they want profits - they have to bite the bullet and go for it. Look at dubai - all flights from europe arrive in waves - which allow connections to the east within a few hours and vice versa. MH can't be like HY or SU - wait in TAS or SVO 48 hours before connecting somewhere else. that was in the 80s. a long long time ago. people want to get to places quickly, and at a convenient time. i am not the expert in these matters, and i understand that there will be other factors involved like time slots in departure/arrival airports, routes, aircraft availability etc etc. But what i don't understand is that WHY can SQ, qatar and emirates do it while we can't????? this is supposed to be bolehland isn't it?? i guess its boleh for certain groups and individuals. like TF!!! enough of my ranting. i'm getting more impatient now with MH's stupidity.
  10. what rubbish. they can't even keep good care of F50s and DHTs. i suppose they will be more careful with their own aircraft - they can't send the repair bill to MH.
  11. MH is going down hill at an alarming rate. just had a look at wikipedia and the destinations MH serves - they only serve 58 international destinations now from KUL. therefore KUL has lost 36 destinations served by MH, and a further 12 by other airlines: Prague Bratislava Sofia Moscow Bishkek Almaty Belgrade Mahe Amman Detroit (sort of) Christchurch Warsaw KUL will be the LCC hub of ASEAN - flying to ASEAN destinations! Wow....we should be so proud of MAHB and MH's efforts. MH will become like garuda and PAL with mostly regional flights while SQ and TG are expanding. They still serve many destinations with less than adequate frequency and capacity. I'm sure more routes will get chopped off soon. well done MH anyways - we have managed to get the RAS service! TF has conned everyone and is now counting his cash!
  12. just looking at airlinemeals.net and found that the MAJORITY of asian/middle eastern airlines serve HOT food for flights above 1 hour 20 minutes. even crappy airlines like SV, IR and KU do that. All the Far eastern ones serve hot food for regional flights. we cannot try to be the Lufthansa of Asia. not when we charge ridiculous prices AND be losing money at the same time. its either SQ or AK. choose.
  13. MH is fighting with AK for scraps. KLIA as a hub will be affected. I know good ol' tony keeps saying that he will make KLIA into a hub - but if he flies to various places via the LCCT with NO facilities for checking through luggage - will the major airlines even consider flying here despite the higher passenger volumes? Forgive my simple mind but airlines are looking for connectivity - if you can't fly seamlessly from one end of the planet to the other - what sort of hub is it? I'm not sure. Does anyone have any idea? AND it makes KLIA a LOWER yield destination as most of the traffic will now be from LCCs. That is not good if you want to attract airlines like BA, AF, NW, UA, NH and QF. And the winner in BOLEHLAND is not KLIA or MAHB (who were forced to lower fees for the LCCT) or the government (who have to build a NEW satellite terminal) - it will be good ol' Uncle Tony. That's all he's after. Don't give us crap on making KLIA a hub. We're not that stupid.
  14. thanks Pieter! already checked the website. can i check in online even if i bought my tickets via travel agency? that might be a problem i think... anyways - looking forward to getting on my private jet to AMS! hope the ah mois are nice!
  15. what can you say? MH is competing head to head with AK using a 737 with snack box. at least its cheaper on AK, and you have choice of things to eat.
  16. when are they flying to kul? i read it in the star online
  17. hahaha.....i wonder why MH's Advanced cargo centre is NOT secure. I would never send anything of value by post as it will never reach its recipient. mind you, its not just the foreigners that are causing the problem. the locals are plundering items from there too.
  18. i agree with rozhan - i think its disgusting that they are increasing charges quietly - including Air fares - therefore passing it on to the customers. Introducing cheapo trays, poor quality food and snack boxes in spite on rising charges will only turn more passengers away. that is not the way to improve yield. as i mentioned many times before, MH's draw is its excellent staff and inflight services. yes, we may NOT be able to fully compete with SQ's constant innovation and upgrading of services but we have held firm. not anymore...and that is very sad. this is NOT a LCC. don't try to compete with TF.
  19. wow! i thought it was AK too. looks like it might be a seasonal flights as mentioned by azizul
  20. AK may be headed that way - but i guess they manhandled the twin otters and the F50s cos it was NOT theirs. they will probably take better care of planes that they have to PAY for themselves. I HOPE! anyways - 3 incidents involving CI 738s now. i would avoid flying them. as Chan said, replacing the chairman will not make a slight difference to the main problem unless he acts upon it.
  21. maybe once we get some ultra long range aircraft. AK might be keen to fly TGG-GRU with their 332 via tehran, damascus and caracas. but somehow i think TF has more common sense than IJ.
  22. exactly my sentiments BC Tam - i mentioned something similar in another post. instead of striving to be like SQ, we are fighting a dirty guerilla war with AK. look at the bigger picture MH...don't drag yourself down
  23. let's hope it wasn't true. that is a serious mistake with huge consequences. remember SQ in TPE?
  24. oh yes...i love the slits on the skirts. i was fortunate enough one day when a really hot stewardess who was very petite jumped onto my arm rest to place someone's bag in the overhead compartment. i didn't think she was going to try. i would have helped her put it away! can't complain.
