No - keeping ZRH at 3 weekly flights after the BTP WILL NOT and DID NOT change anything. So you cannot say that MH has tried everything to make the destination profitable (apart from probably increasing fares). And the argument about widebody fleet does not make sense. As mentioned above, just go to KLIA and see MH widebody fleet lying idle on the ground. You don't see that at DXB. Almost ALL of EK's aircraft are coming or going. IJ's plans are drastic reduction of services, product quality and cost to achieve some profit.

hahaha...its so funny. looks like LGW is a seasonal destination. I won't be surprised as some of you mentioned above that MH might sell off their lucrative LHR slots and go for LGW. Airlines are scrambling for a share of LHR slots but MH is not making any money. I am speechless really.

yes...i remember the government saying at some point that MH and AK will complement each other - AK will fly to cities that MH does not want. that's malaysia for you. only interested in what is going on in their 'kampung'. singapore, on the other hand, has taken on the world - and succeeded! look at dubai ... our ministers and heads of GLCs travel the world to learn about others - but refuse to learn in reality and live in denial that Malaysia IS indeed THE BEST.

to be honest, i doubt that the management know what their doing. as KK lee said above, they are NOT following other airlines strategies. If they were making loads of money like EK, fine. Go your own way. But we're not. We're only slightly bigger than Garuda or PAL. So it would be wise to adopt strategies or at least SOME common sense from airlines like SQ or EK who are pioneering the world of aviation. As usual, the kataks under their tempurung are fighting tooth and nail with AK while other majors (and regional hubs) are stealing our premium pax (what little we have). it reminds me of Lat's cartoon many years ago which showed the Argentinian armed forces plan of attacking Britain VIA the Panama canal while the whole of Britain's navy was concentrating on attacking via the South Atlantic. its more hilarious when you actually see it rather than me explain it! sorry! hahaha GROWTH is NOT about axing flights to MAJOR FINANCIAL centres like ZRH and FRA; or operate shitty aircraft to important regional destinations like DXB; OR FLYING TO LAHORE! doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The management keeps pulling stunts like this and MH will lose its status as a premium carrier. I can't help but think that IJ's comments that they just want to be a leisure carrier has brought MH down from its big league perch.

mh is full of rubbish. i agree - lhr, fra and zrh are all high yield routes that remain very lucrative for other airlines.

AirAsia Want to Take Over Subang Airport!!!!!

sounds like a reasonable plan BC Tam... Cannot fault your foresight! hahaha -
unique products??? what the hell... maybe they were referring to the snakbox and their 'sandwic' - cos i haven't seen anything quite like it!

IJ has got his priorities wrong. EVen SQ, the most profitable airline in the world is in an alliance. HOW the hell does he expect MH to survive with codeshares? apparently the codeshares with AZ/SAA etc etc only allow them to have 9 seats on MH aircraft. that is not tthe way to generate more pax...

kul cargo traffic is 670000 tonnes/year. sin traffic is 1.9 million tonnes/year a lot of malaysian cargo traffic is still flown via sin as it is easier and hassle free with more airlines and less red tape. even though we have achieved so much, we are still waaay behind in terms of aviation. it doesn#t help when your own countrymen ship goods via sin, but that is the situation. klia ACC is seen as having poor security - frequent break ins and robbery and stealing of high value freight. that is just for cargo. don't get me started on the passenger aspects. klia is probably the best airports in the world - but even if you bribe other airlines - NO ONE (major carriers) is interested. we already are providing incentives to NO avail. yes, we got LH back , and ME carriers started increasing flights but we are still far behind SIN and even further from BKK. singapore has made even greater progress...for e.g. it doesn't have any oil but is the largest oil trading place in asia. caltex even moved its WORLD HQ from houston to singapore. that is what i'm talking about. however, singapore had a good head start- its infrastructure was already in place (british built) and it was a major port of call. malaysia had to concentrate and develop its rural areas to get people out of poverty....we had more on our plate and were already behind... we are making it slowly but surely - just hope we dont get complacent
-
unfortunately seth, they already operate more flights to SIN. they are keen to offer connections on QF via SIN to Australia.

MAS is better placed than SIA or Thai in ASEAN? You must be joking!

you're right alan - MH is like the PINK bas mini that used to zip around the streets of KL! -
bloody hell..i cannot believe that you have to pay RM5700 for a few satay sticks. I'll take 9W anytime!

garuda was going to make kul its new hub - started codesharing on flights to LHR, AMS, FRA. then added some flights from surabaya, jogjakarta etc etc. These all disappeared very quickly. SIN is getting more flights to more indonesian destinations. if the indons can't even help us...we can just forget it.

AirAsia Want to Take Over Subang Airport!!!!!
Izanee replied to M. Sofian H.'s topic in General Aviation
hahaha...agreed. THIS current government's indecisiveness is making things hard for everyone. Making a decision and then backing down. KUL was built to replace SZB. period. DO NOT move AK back - leave the turboprops in SZB for god's sake. KUL CANNOT lose out the critical mass of passengers moved by AK. IF the government follows TF's money making ideas, KUL will have to forget about being a hub (even a regional one). -

MH is happy to compare itself to Air Asia, Bangkok airways and Garuda. SQ is in a league of its own - right at the top. -
you guys are spot on! MH has regressed to a shell of itself. NOw that they have pulled out of potentially money making routes like ZRH, MAN, MUC etc etc and are reducing flights to many other destinations - it is difficult to make a comeback. Look at ZRH - SQ are already increasing services in anticipation of MH passengers using them. And if you want to return and fight SQ's superior services - no way will MH be able to attract any pax. IJ may have turned around MH - but he is doing it the wrong way. It will not last long. just another stop gap measure to help make him look good before he dumps MH like all the others. This is a similar situation to non medically trained people running hospitals. You need to have the experience before you can make a change. Running an oil company is a different kettle of fish to running an award winning world class airline but with low cost.

that list is from the Wikipedia.org article on KLIA. It is quite accurate apart from the fact that Transaero don't fly to KUL at present. The potential user list is also accurate apart from Royal Jordanian - nothing yet mentioned about restarting services to KUL. However, their cargo airline list is rubbish. Some airlines are just placed there because they have underbelly cargo on their passenger flights. Some don't even service KUL.
