  1. It was fun while it lasted, I guess. Interesting how we're going from up to 2 daily KUL-CDG flights to none.
  2. I barely have time to finish the two packs of peanuts on peninsular flights!
  3. There's always a tendency for an airline to have every single hiccup reported after a major/high profile incident. Remember the QF A380 fiasco over Batam? For the next few months I remember reading about lots of QF "incidents", no matter how minor they were. Frankly I think the SQ A330 that lost power midflight is scarier than this incident, but nobody made a big fuss out of it.
  4. They still managed to circle around Melbourne and dump fuel, so I doubt it's as bad as what many social media users are making it sound like. Of course, the media will not be kind to MH.
  5. Me thinks they'll finally join the direct aisle access club
  6. Passengers traveling on Saturdays will be charged RM0.20 for each plastic bag to be carried onboard. Business Class and Platinum/Emerald passengers are exempt from this charge for the first two bags, while Gold/Sapphire and Silver/Ruby passengers may bring one plastic bag at no charge. Plastic bags exceeding the specified dimensions will need to be checked-in.
  7. Those overhead bins on the ATR72s are tiny. If your bag is close to FY's dimension limit your bag might not even fit.
  8. I have a feeling we're going to kiss free meals and baggage allowance goodbye on domestic flights. In Y, at least.
  9. To be fair I've seen other MH ground staff deal with difficult pax pretty well. An Australian guy was denied entry into the Golden Lounge for being a Qantas Club member traveling on 3K. He was creating a scene at the entrance, slamming his fists on the desk while hurling expletives at the lounge staff who managed to hold on to their composure. They stood firm and dealt with the situation professionally, still breaking a smile at the end
  10. MH only has -200ERs, which were only launched in 1997. IIRC one of them flew non-stop from Seattle to Subang. I think the last one arrived in 2004.
  11. That seems rather LCCish. Sure, QF does it, but only for domestic flights.
  12. The last two refurbishments were hardly impressive. Hopefully they get it right this time and be done with it.
  13. If they can't make FRA work what makes you think BER will be any better?
  14. Expect a dozen more changes from TG before getting too excited!
  15. Initially, Singapore's East West line had direct trains to Changi Airport. Unfortunately this meant some less informed pax found themselves at the airport rather than Pasir Ris, which prompted SMRT to branch off the Tanah Merah-Changi extension. Unless there's sufficient demand to justify a Sentral-Subang train, it won't make sense to make most of the commuters to disembark at Subang Jaya and wait for the next train. Maybe, on the way back from Subang Airport. That would make more sense for the trains to merge with the main line and continue to Sentral.
  16. "Important transit hub airline" while cutting long-haul flights...?
  17. My EK346 for later this month was downgraded to a 77W
  18. You really think a white guy in a suit behaving just as badly as those subcontinent pax would still get a smile from those ground staff?
  19. They're always having promos for domestic flights. Maybe you missed the previous promo. Or, perhaps, you're checking a super-peak period?
  20. New cabin interiors need years to be worth the investment. The 772s are already getting old.
  21. YQ is determined by the operating carrier. It's generally only worth paying if you're redeeming F/J. I doubt backtracking would be an issue in your case, but you never know. The call center staff have absolutely no idea how to book a partner award and come up with their own rules. Some say you can have up to 4 segments, others say otherwise. They'll place you on hold for 30-60 minutes and come back with an unsatisfactory answer (couldn't find a supervisor, award space doesn't show up, taxes couldn't be calculated etc) If possible try going to the KL sentral office. It makes your life a lot easier especially for multi-segment bookings. Even then, they might take quite a bit of time but they have a handbook that helps so they won't come up with their own rules or excuses.
  22. The problem arises if the miles don't credit and you have to make a claim. The staff may insist that miles aren't supposed to be awarded.
