Well thought out reasoning Keno ! I guess realities of the airline industry eventually dictate what sort of carrier flies where to, international politics allowing. I'm sure many of us here in the 'secondary' cities would like to see many more foreign carriers at our local airports, but what for when traffic / yields are unlikely to sustain the services ? For eg, though I was ecstatic when AO started SYD-BKI-SIN vv, it felt more dissapointing when they stopped flying here instead. Having said that, there must be those in the industry who take the "never try, never know" approach too !

Don't be put off Pieter, doesn't say anywhere any of the vacancies restricted to Malaysians. Anyway, if the AK team wants you, likely they will have the resources to secure you a work permit at the very least. And dare I say you're more than "suitably qualified" ?!

At the rate things are going, it is a possibility (albeit a distant possibility) MH will be told to shift operations to SZB, AK will take over MTB and LCCT will be converted to cargo warehouse (after KLIA Express extension is in place mind you)

To see things in better perspective, suggest we read this All part and parcel of the learning curve I suppose !

Goodness, you're so right about being crammed into a window seat when configuration is 3-x-3. It's inhumanely claustrophobic, especially when one needs to answer nature's call and you can see your fellow passengers comfortably settled in !!

Chan, Wasn't there something in the press sometime back about MYY being able to accomodate the big birds physically, except they don't have the proper equipment to service the birds or something to that effect ?!

And sacrifice the view out of the window ?! I remember there are a few rows right at the end of 744's where the configuration is 2-4-2. Perhaps grab a couple of those rows ? But then, please take others' advice more seriously than mine, since it has been years since I flew long haul !

Either the Malaysian team at negotiating table at Toulouse are not too proficient in the psycho art of negotiations or our own Minister of Transport has shot them in the foot !! Why on earth lift the threat of cancelling the order when the issue of (quantum of) compensation has not been decided upon yet ?! OK, it doesn't take a genius to work out the 380 delayed delivery has been a heaven sent blessing for MH, considering their financial position currently. But then, we don't have to announce that fact to manufacturer A nor thank them for it either !!

Many thanks for those, always enjoyed airport pics. That MH 333's nose cone obviously was borrowed from another bird ! Have they renovated the terminal yet ? Last I was there, it was in such a depressed state and we had a 5 or 6 hour wait - not fun !

I think they are responding by revamping the fare structure ? Good to see MH is responding somewhat to market forces nowadays, instead of the 'head buried in ground' posture of days past

Wise move - start off on a small dose, gradually increasing dosage (frequency or duration) until immunity (read apathy) sets in. Then you'll be ready to face the real challenge, LCC long haul ! BTW, my money is on MAN being AK X's first destination in the UK - remember they did the test flight with 9M-AFC (Man Utd colours) few months back ? And we all thought it was just some promo gimmick with the footballers - how naive !

Heck, make out a convincing case, pujuk-pujuk a bit (butter them up) and if you really play your cards right, the parents may well end up paying for the trip with their credit cards instead !! Good luck !
