  1. It seems in the TR video there are many ground handling staffs surround the SQ A350 at KLIA. Is it a normal operation practice or it is a one off special occasion ?
  2. I think yes, that was the spot I mentioned about (circled in the image below) I saw two EK A388 at MEL yesterday morning, one was EK406 from DXB with onward flight to AKL and another one was EK404 from DXB/SIN. Sorry for OT.
  3. Thanks for the explanation, Sandeep. Now this is one real remote parking ... Here is the photo I have captured. Sorry for the poor quality
  4. Saw a RB787 parked at the far end of the taxiway next to Runway 16 at MEL airport this morning, with a stair truck attached to it. Wonder what was it doing there ? Some emergency procedure ?
  5. Will we see TG's livery change from purple colour to blue like its neighbour ?
  6. We have once fly with Garuda SYD-CGK-KUL with original transit time in CGK about 2 hours. However, few weeks before our departure GA changed the departure time from SYD to a later time thus same day connection to KUL at CGK was not possible. Although GA did arrange overnight accommodation in Jakarta for us, we need to pay for the visa for 4 of us (I think it was USD100 back then). I asked the ground staff if the visa fee could be reimbursed but the answer was no. I wrote to GA but did not receive any response from them Wonder if anyone has similar experience ?
  7. For the purpose of serving overseas populations in the land below the wind, perhaps boat services are more efficient than air services ?
  8. Ok, thanks for the clarifications Just to make sure smiling sweetly at the custom officers as per Mr Tam's experience
  9. I have not done that in Malaysia, but it happens to us in Japan where we are required to retrieve our baggage on arrival from an international flight for custom formality before check in again for the connecting domestic flight, even though we have already checked thru to the final destination at the origin airport. (the baggage tag shows our final destination) I believe the same procedure in Australia as well unless the final domestic flight arrives at the International Terminal. With the way it works in Malaysia, is there any possibility a foreigner enters the country without going thru the custom properly by having a connecting domestic flight as his / her final sector (especially when the domestic flight arrives at domestic terminal) ?
  10. Based on my recent experience, if a flight involves an international sector and then onto a domestic sector, then you need to go through the immigration and reclaim your baggage for custom check during transit, before you can proceed to the domestic sector. In this case, it will be your DPS-KUL-KCH However if the flight involves a domestic sector and then onto an international sector, then you baggage may be check thru to your final destination, this will be your KCH-KUL-DPS.
  11. I believe WLG runway has taken the headwinds into account for the required take-off length. IIRC, there was one occasion where a Virgin flight with full load (a B737 i think it was) has to delay its take-off due to no headwinds at WLG around its STD time. So what's next for SQ ? Perhaps SIN-HBA-ZQN ? Anyway congratulations to SQ and wish them do well on this route.
  12. Agree, lack of a single identity. Taking the food is a good example. However, that only applies to those who do not know Malaysia very well and have not 'tried' it. Many foreigners have negative perception towards Malaysia until they have actually step on Malaysia soil, and they will like to return once they have been there. Without knowing much about Malaysia, they rather don't risk their time and money and instead spend it on other places like Singapore, Thailand or Indonesia (Bali to be precise) which they think they know better. Likewise for Malaysian food, it is far less popular than say Thai food in foreign countries. Take Malaysian food in Sydney, for example, many of my non-Malaysian friends are reluctant to try it. However, once they have tried it, they like it very much. Rich multi-cultural identity indeed is a gift to Malaysia and I think Malaysia should preserve it. The challenge for Malaysia is how to promote it. The negative news and 'incidents' happening in Malaysia definitely wouldn't help foreigner's perception towards Malaysia.
  13. Well done everyone. Thanks for sharing
  14. When QF tied up with EK few years ago, it terminated FRA leaving LHR the only Europe destination with its own metal. Many people were not optimistic with the tie up especially when QF shifted its base from SIN to DXB. Now it seems it works pretty well for QF. Hope likewise for MH case
  15. It is sad to hear that, Captain. I wish you and all the MH B777 pilots all the best in the future undertakings
  16. IIRC, back in Subang airport era, a temporary terminal was built during the major renovation of Terminal 1. The temporary terminal was then become Terminal 2 serving KUL-SIN shuttle service when the works at Terminal 1 were completed and commissioned. Perhaps in KLIA case, extension can be carried out in stages. First shut down MTB wing A and construct wing A extension. When Wing A is completed and commissioned, procced to Wing B extension works by shutting down Wing B.
  17. Thanks for the info. Hope the existing facilities have the spare capacity for expansion (eg appropriate main pipe size, trunk utilities cable route etc) if they are laid under existing fully developed site incl the parking apron
  18. Not sure if the support facilities at existing MTB has provision for extension, such as baggage handling system, underground aviation fuel pipelines etc ? Can anyone confirm if the existing aircraft refuelling at MTB is thru underground fuel pipe hydrants or fuel tanker ?
  19. Did the same heli ride at Fox Glacier in April 2015, albeit it was with another tour operator. http://www.malaysianwings.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20321&page=2 Was told the weather in the area changes quickly. Low cloud / thick fog often forms in no time Very sad news
  20. It reminds me of Air Asia old colour scheme
