  1. Well u could expect the A359 to takeover this route.. Especially given the pullout of MH from FRA.
  2. Wrong aircraft type too.. A343 is horrible on fuel consumption and product.
  3. Written off is a new runout I read here - but apparently the damage is quite substantial - presumably to the gears. If nose landing was the case, fwd fuselage buckling as well as structural deformation at the nose gear anchor points is also possible.. Would be the first A330 HL write off if ur runout is correct - suspect just a gear change and some structural beefing necessary (still costly). Airbus on the job! Rumour***
  4. INTX T/O with apparently 2600 TORA.. Full runway offers just shy of 4000 TORA.. Flight is MIA-DOH...
  5. And what about AF? GA? United? JAL? AI? All of whom have suffered unprecedented disasters in recent times? MH is a reminder of what the airline was, is and will be. We cannot forever go on in Malaysia knocking down monuments to build new ones.. A bit abstract, so for those of u who have no context, too bad - "Maintenance culture" starts from within. Fix what we have before we break something new - that way we will appreciate and respect more our achievements.
  6. Very difficult for the airline in terms of operations and approvals if the MH/MAS codes are lost... Quality managment and flight operation certifications are of immediate concern.. My opinion, the new MAB is more akin to a bankruptcy declaration by MAS, however, the retention of corporate debt by the new entity being the major difference.
  7. Same policy for SQ. No hot beverages whilst seat belt sign is on - consider the risk borne by the crew of scalding one self or a pax. Complete service suspension is another step with lots of considerations and comms between CC and TC
  8. Dont look as far as RBA, MAS used to operate KUL-BNE-AKL circa 2002!
  9. One example is RVSM with 1000 foot separation combined with ANP of 0.0 on most aircraft together with a perfect headwind on the lower aircraft make the situation ripe for such wake turbulence encounter at altitude. Nicer to fly offset (SLOP) 1 or 2 miles from the airway and traffic
  10. Intriguing little bird - now to find out what is the purpose of the USB socket on the centre pedestal of the cockpit
  11. An app called "seat alerts" apparently works pretty well.
  12. Firefly fares often very high. This will be good for the consumer - although, the right-size jet for this flight is an E-Jet or C-series equivalent - Mojo Mojo!
  13. How are they positioning the aircraft into IPH for this service? Surely can't be a. KUL-IPH run... Must at least be coming in from Sabah/Sarawak? Disregard - saw the timings for the flight - so KUL-SIN-IPH-SIN-KUL. Fair go!
  14. great to see an over sensationalized piece of news being further over sensationalized by the "armchair" experts once more, fueled with more speculation - SQ or MH, or any incident that happens out there. ... Zzz ...

  16. Someone please order a trumpet fan fare..
  17. Actually, this overcapacity situation is quite the debacle amongst the LCCs... it will eventuate into further erosion of yields and a fair amount of consolidation.. There is merit for some degree of aircraft trading.. for example (and this is hypothetical, so please no one get their knickers-in-a-twist), if AirAsiaX were to release about 20 of their A330NEO order to MAS, depending on the financials, it could be a win-win for both parties. Similarly the A320NEO. But presumeably, AirAsia is gonna start retiring some of the older A320s with the introduction of the NEO.. are they 320NEO launch customers?
  18. 0049z Speedbird 33 G-YMMN B772ER steaming towards KUL at FL370 - ETA 1413, 22mins ahead of sched!
  19. 27 is the inaugural Speedbird 33 from LHR arriving at 1435 - anyone heading down to catch the action?
  20. Soon to launch: Ramly Burger Airwayz Dari Johor to the world (Subang/Melaka/Penang) with A380 painted like a burger buns! ICAO approved callsign of "SEDAPNYA"
  21. Airline Ratings is the brainchild of a two-bit nitwit from The West australian Newspaper (a publication not even deserving of the colloquial 'rag') - Geoffrey Thomas. He is a so called "aviation expert" that of late has made a name for himself with appearances on all major networks.. He feeds theories and fuels rumours.. He has a hard-on for Qantas and hence why in every article he writes, like MH and QZ, he will draw comparisons to how such can "never happen at QF." His recent shocker of an article "why I will never fly AirAsia" is testament to his bias and lack of objectivity. Thus, take AirlineRatings with not just a pinch of salt, but perhaps the whole salt shaker and some more. His methods are fraught with subjective and non-substantiated opinion..
  22. Spoke to some mates over at CAAP and PAL as well as MI, this airport is notorious for +TSRA and strong winds which when combined with circling approaches and a short wet (or soaked) runway have obvious potential consequences if an approach is mismanaged. Go-arounds are always encouraged. The Cebu flight before this aircraft had indeed gone around. Let the investigation reveal the causes, let's not speculate.
  23. There is no need to pick up pax with fifth freedom.. AirAsiaX is about filling seats. There are no crewing problems with this arrangement. They just par two leaner flights together. Pax probably won't care - as long as the price is right and you get better aircraft/crew utilization! *pair
  24. Very silly move.. They should have offered a triangular route with one of the less popular MEL or SYD flights, flying KUL-MEL-ADL-KUL for example..
  25. Aiyah... Reporting a bit skewed. Please allow a Boeing Fan to correct the inaccuracy: Boeing 737 total deliveries (since 1967): 8,263 (>6,200) Boeing 737 total orders: 12300 (>11,000)
