  1. I believe that the shots Andrew K has shared are the aircraft being readied at KLIA for it's flight to KCH, hence, the presence of LSG Skychefs. Whilst the extenstion of runways seem politically motivated (and in likelihood, they are for the most part), a few longer runways around is good in the case of alternates and diversion airports MORE OPTIONS!
  2. hehehe i doubt he's spent the USD2.4 billion... would LOVE to know the discount thrown at him.. 70%, 80%... 90%??? But well done nonetheless
  3. I think it's modern, but I honestly think it's quite boring.. I preferred the Garuda bird on the tail - I always thought the GIA livery was quite neutral - but by this of course I mean simple, elegant and modern.
  4. nice shots mate! SIAEC like to park a/c at T1 sometimes beneath the D30-40 gates (north east contact pier) is where their offices, tool depot etc etc are kept Easy access overnight for whatever item they're servicing.
  5. Yes, and it's on time too!!! Buggers requested a typical FL for a GLEX - FL450! Heard it on my way in from SGN this evening.
  6. Oakland eh??? so does this mean a connection to San Francisco via Oakland is the targeted launch US destination?? Any insider gossip on this? - also considering the recent comments by Azran stating that they are in no rush to get A340's and want to firm up the London-Stansted Operations first.
  7. Saw the D7 A340 pictured above at SATS Cargo Centre this afternoon. Was extremely intrigued by this livery!!! Will wait to see with anticipation the final product!
  8. I'm guessing firefly ain't the only guys flying into Singapore from SZB
  9. They weren't sacked - they were whisked off back to DXB quicker than CASA could blink their eyes and open an investigation and were told to resign or be sacked.. they resigned.
  10. Good to see MASquito entering Singapore. Although a part of me still wishes they'd operate into Seletar as oppose to the Changi Budget terminal. Oh well - more options to fly!
  11. Just experienced this on a flight to/from Langkawi. Had 19 people - some children If a booking is made, then surely, the seats should be allocated together on the one booking....
  12. deiii Imran, just to clarify, you'll ONLY be in fear if it slithers up your leg inflight?? not if it slithers down your neck??? hahaha so obviously a fear that the python will go for your snake then?? hehehehehehehehehehe Snakes on a Plane? brilliant!
  13. Thanks for the info. I must see, I've started listening to BFM more nowadays - great range of music!!! Very good for driving! plus, love the marketing campaign of acronyms!
  14. one of the best aviation universities in the world. Very envious of your acceptance into the uni! go for it!
  15. Settle down Mushrif, i'm just making assumptions of scenarios based on what Haansel has said.. I'malso just trying to make sense of what he said regarding these A330's.. As you obviusly know, MAS does not own it's A330 fleet - they are owned by PMB. The lease-contracts for all we know may be coming to an end, and decisions may have been made by the accountants that new aircraft on lease terms with Airbus may deliver a cost benefit - perhaps the result of negotiations on compensation for the Airbus delays. There could be a number of measures being announced by MAS on April 1 - we only speculate and attempt to use our intellect as to what they may announce. BTW, using newer A330 aircraft would be of benefit to the airline in operational costs - the accountants know this - a brand new toy costs less to operate than one that's 15 years old. We don't need maths to prove that to anyone, do we?
  16. The Lease of new A330's (if it occurs) could be to replace EXISTING A330 aircraft - which may be put into storage or perhaps even sold. They may also be returned to their lessors!
  17. Well "new" A330's could very well be a possibility... They could merely be leased from Airbus in a similar fashion to that of the SIA A330's.. I don't see why this could not be a possibility - and a ploy by airbus to attract MAS to commit to ordering A350's ahead of 787's in the future. And now, especially with the number of airlines deferring aircraft orders and putting production schedules at Airbus and Boeing into "chaos", then I think birds rolling off the factory floor with nowhere to go, may find a home with such lease schemes!!
  18. Well done Tony for his perservenrece & Inspiration and well done to the many Malaysians, Thais, Indonesians and other nationalities for their dedication and hard work!
  19. WHy does the Tune Hotel have to be converted into anything else than what it already is???? If they are set on having a return on their investment, I would imagine they would be MORE than willing to run shuttle vans/buses to the hotel from the new terminal... There will be new roads built to accomodate this - perhaps everyone is assuming the perimeter road will completely cease to exist? I doubt so.. merely realigned.
  20. Congratulations on the article making today's (Saturday) STARMetro! And the front cover nonetheless!! Good promo and accompanying story! Well done!
  21. These pilots may be absorbed in the future, but it is the hope and aspiration of the private candidates whom make up a proportion of the quoted figures to be selected by MAS, AirAsia or Perhaps even SIA. However, in the case of SIA, they will redo a certain amount of their CPL training to climatise them to local operations, more often being retrained. according to some MPs, Singh = Kinng
  22. Quite honestly, they DO need a new office as the old one at SZB T2 is quite unsightly. However, the location whould be withing the available space at KLIA... This will be easier for staff to travel via the ERL... building it at the mosque is a little strange to me...
  23. The 17 aircraft seeing faster retirement will most likely be some of the older 777s.. SQ* and SR* series - in tandem with the delivery of A330's into the fleet. Note also, the article does not state that in addition to aircraft leaving the fleet, there will be aircraft entering the fleet. The problem SQ is unfortunately facing I feel is difficulty in filling the premium cabins which are a major source of revenue for the airline - and this is in tandem with global economic distress amongst large multinational companies and large corporations whom have cut staff travel (usually in premium cabins).. We wait to hear what is the outcome, but the hedge at US$131 is tremondously unfortunate if jet fuel prices stay at present market levels...
  24. Paya Lebar is out! it's predominately Military - in fact IT IS military, but with restricted civillian ops for ST Aero Engineering facility. If Firefly were to be flying into Singapore, I would ASSUME it would operate out of Seletar. The airport is the second civilian (CAAS) operated airport and is undergoing numerous upgrading works including the lengthening of the runway by 250m and incorporation of an ILS for RWY 21. HOWEVER, lacking at WSSL are large enough terminal facilities. The present terminal (And carpark) are VERY small. The apron can get pretty crowded also. We wait and see.
  25. Well you're carrying it all a bit too far. Back to the topic: THE AIRPORT & TERMINAL FACILITIES The Satellite B Terminal Reserve (Apron D) should be built and used as the new Premier Terminal - the older satellite can be used as the so called LCCT apron. Aerobridges should be charged on a time-bloc basis to reduce costs for operators and encourage fast turnaround times which are the objective of Low Cost Carriers like AirAsia. The baggage system at the present terminals should be modified at the same time as the new Sat B terminal is constructed. Toilets should be refurbished under the one contract. DCA AND ATC At the same time, coordination with the DCA's new ATC Management system should permit the construction of a new dedicated ATC centre at KLIA, rather than the present facility at Subang, which could EASILY be converted into a Regional ATC Training Centre OR utilised by the Armed Forces/Air Force. TRANSPORTATION HUB I agree with Tony Fernandes, the Airport SHOULD be a major transportation hub integrating public bus services, intra-town bus services (Scheduled services), train (ERL Ekpres & KLIA Transit). This should be integrated at the existing airport in an orderly and well managed fashion. Bus companies should follow a strict timetable of services and not WAIT for the bus to be full - delaying passengers by up to an hour - before they depart. I had this experience not too long ago at the LCCT with the Red Bus Company. LIFESTYLE Lifestyle options at KLIA should also be explored and a shopping centre for the general & travelling public should be constructed within the present compund - There is ample car-parking available at the existing MTB, and sky bridges can connect the new ATC facility, shopping centre with the Main Terminal Building and Car Parks. One thing we are missing in Malaysia is a LARGE Brand Direct Factory Outlet Store - similar to what is available at Brisbane International Airport (DFO). I think that it would be a perfect location for it. It should be marketed well and prices made attractive to the public - the focus initially to bring in the population. The lifestyle mall should encourage interest in Aviation and should also contain numerous f&b outlets for both airport staff and the public. Perhaps a cinema, a bowling alley - its limitless. There is so much that can be done with a bit of careful planning. Hopefully, through all this experience and with the financial restructuring of MAHB complete, some sensible and profit making ventures can be entered. Fingers crossed.
