MAS B772 Fleet Decommissioned on 27 January 2016
Sharil Abdul Rahman replied to alberttky's topic in General Aviation
To be fair, the announcement is for the normal folks and media, unlike us who fine-tooth comb the internet for every info you can get before it is out officially. -
Your Aviation New Year Resolutions
Sharil Abdul Rahman replied to Mohd Azizul Ramli's topic in General Aviation
Ah yes. So there are four players: FIrefly Malindo MASWings BERJAYA Wow. I checked the Wiki, and only Myanmar has as many players using ATRs in one country. -
Apparently so. From @Mohd Azizul Ramli own posting on another thread: http://www.malaysianwings.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12195&p=330386 From an average of 6% average growth for four months before OneWorld, it is now an average of 25% from Feb till April! Thanks MAR for the analysis!

Your Aviation New Year Resolutions
Sharil Abdul Rahman replied to Mohd Azizul Ramli's topic in General Aviation
Seeing the Europe trips by Afendi makes me a bit jealous haha. I know its already the middle of the year, but perhaps its not too late to get on the bandwagon for an Aviation Resolution: Seeing we are blessed with three different operators for ATR here, i was thinking of getting on them by the end of the year.....or maybe all in one go. FIrefly Malindo MASWings So perhaps a crazy one weekend trip is at hand? -

Tiger Airways rebrands as Tigerair
Sharil Abdul Rahman replied to JuliusWong's topic in General Aviation
Welcome Tigerair. The problem now is that the title and the tail doesnt really gel well.... I mean the title is a bit kiddish, almost comic sans, but the tail is very serious looking pulak.... -

Jet engine explodes on runway, Airbus A330.

Thomas Cook Airlines is a charter airline. So they have some LCC in their blood in a way - fit as many as possible, and run a many time as possible. Altho looking at their wiki page for their destinations, its quite impressive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Cook_Airlines_destinations -
Always maintained personally that HND should have been the starting point. D7 can feed into JW and vice versa. And yes, conflict of interest - when ANA can pump more resource into 'their' main LCC Peach. Hope Tony can recover and find another partner.

UK and Malaysia agree ‘open skies’ deal
Sharil Abdul Rahman replied to nrazmoor's topic in General Aviation
The big elephant in the room - the air tax. its prohibitive la. Also does this mean we can get a KUL-MAN-LHR flight with this agreement? (for example la) -

Oh. Is it D-Check time? -
http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/17/airbus-a350-cockpit-video-tour/ Engadget managed to get a sneak peek of the new a350 cockpit. Looks like they took the a330 cockpit, and replaced EVERYTHING with LCD panels.

Chicken Pox, AirAsia and Denied Boarding

My only question was - they know the kid had chicken pox. Why didnt the staff in LCCT spotted that then they were going from KUL? -
MAS B772 Fleet Decommissioned on 27 January 2016
Sharil Abdul Rahman replied to alberttky's topic in General Aviation
But pilots need to be re-rated if they need to change planes. That takes time and money. Its not like you can just transplant a 777 captain to a 333. I mean - one is more hands on than the other. the 333 flies with a joystick - needs a change of mindset and training! -
MAS A380 - Fleet to be Retained
Sharil Abdul Rahman replied to Mohd Azizul Ramli's topic in General Aviation
Hi Waiping. I did it for my parent's flight last week so yes you can. Altho kena cepat sikit takut it has been taken up hehe -
So many 747s around MTB today... Also, there is a 757 parked on the A wing-side. Anyone has any idea whose is that? It has a black-white colour scheme (or is it white/dark blue?)
-
Unless everyone wants MAS to be in the red again, we have to be a bit realistic and make do with what we have. Besides, MAS's ULH days are very limited now, What they need are actually planes that can sustain long, thin routes with good frequencies. So A350 or the 787 would be good i think. Also maybe the fact that the 787 are still having teething problems, that its a good thing MAS didnt order with them to replace the 772s. of course we could see MAS's LH fleet to be all Airbus in the near future....
