  1. Twu runway is actually pretty okay, ur flight probably used more runway as the pilots used lower brakes and reverse thrust to prolong gear and engine life and no immediate traffic bugging at the back. I used to be scared of landings taking up runway. but now from what i discovered it is the take off that should be worried. Payload and wind to air dampness conditions will affect required runway usage for take off and mtow usually takes more runway than landing.
  2. Brunei's entourage b762, Mytravel A330-200(with over 400 person onboard) did landed in SDK before and recently a b752 Thomson luxury charter. Talking about SDK it is a captains sector for 738 and A320 operators due to runway condition(it aint the smoothest leveled runway in borneo) and length. Malindo's B737-900ER and potential A321s would not be able to take off on that runway with 4-5hour(this may include sectors such as SDK-KUL where diversion and holding fuel load is applied as well) worth of flight time payload unless thrust and flaps modification are done which are not cost conservative to some airlines. Same issue with Melaka's white elephant Batu Berendam when China Southern's A320 had a hard time that they wanted to downgage to A319s on some flights to be extra safe. In fact larger aircrafts like A330/B772 would use less runway with the same 4-5hour payload and passengers carried as the 739 and a321 due to significant more powerful and larger engines equipped. Perhaps this runway extension is to accommodate more stretched narrowbody aircrafts from any 4-6 hour sectors instead of what the press reported as for widebody. The best runway length for b738/a320 to do 6 hour sector would be approx 8000feet+ if it were to be the B737-900ER etc it would need nearly 9800feet based on Maxed take off weight. Not really a good margin on hot day operation. Sandakan runway length is only 7000feet hence a lot of restriction.
  3. No matter what livery u put on the A380 it is difficult to get a decent looking one due to the double deck dugong sized fuselage this is where the 747 looks much better in looks. IMO the MAS swoosh livery looks good enough on the A350 luckily it wasnt painted on the A380, now its up to MAB to keep it looking clean outside and inside.
  4. there was a rumor circulating that Lion Group asked Malindo to rebrand because many foreign customers treated Malindo's tail logo as Lion Air and associate it with Lion Air's constant flight delay, bad customer services and thought it was an LCC carrier.
  5. i visited the temptations store before back in 2013 it is located at MAS FMD building. One note it looks more of a stock room than a store, very disorganised probably aint there anymore for now.
  6. Hopefully Thai smiles does heavy marketing. Most of pax exiting out of BKI are cost cautious. As for absence of IFE i think that is not important nowadays but it would be great if they have AC/USB charging port and proper seat pitch instead. I would take the extra RM200 fare if it were to be a Thai Airways A330 being deployed.
  7. Thai Airways just opened up booking for BKI on Thai Smiles. Fares are from RM917return not exactly cheap even with the 3 hour 5 min expected flight duration. I could take MAS and save about rm200++ or take Thai Airways widebody for the BKK leg. On another note MAS website quoted me a whooping 4.2k return while booking sectors separately gives me RM716 for the flights.
  8. Its rare as its one of the latest airbus corporate jet to be fitted with sharklets.
  9. probably some small side income for mab through leasing rates.
  10. The current A321CEO thanks to its higher fuselage from ground has higher bypas engine ratio. The 737-900er is too short hence a lot of limitation especially runway length usage and climb performance. The 737MAX they will be making the landing gears higher hoping for higher bypas and performance however the max9 is still carrying less possible passengers than the upcoming A321NEO hence Boeing studying the possibility of another stretched version in the MAX series.
  11. 6 so far. Noticed so many 738s coming in but no 900ER so far even from batik.
  12. Relatives had to fork out about additional MYR1.5K for 2 pax to get Air Mauritius now on the exact travel date and it is not a direct flight also.
  13. My aunt and uncle's flight got screwed and they bought the tickets in November I already told them months ago not to get newly launch routes
  14. Dont think these routes should be scheduled, seasonal yes but all year round NO.
  15. The fuel burn and weight of the b777(especially the 200 series) is not so economical for todays standard. Current A330-300 the CEO designated and upcoming NEO are more efficient to use provided seating capacity and cargo payload is adjusted accordingly in order to fly to Europe. If not mistaken flights to europe will only be a problem if airlines plan to fit them with more passengers hence payload restriction on fuel and performance to meet mtow criteria will result less range given.
  16. I think there is a certain benchmark on service levels and what the service crew could give. I certainly do not think asking them to assist bag lifting counts even if u are on first class suite or having some gold class ffp or even on the cattle seat. If you are weak and frail pack less for hand-carry. If you really need to bring heavy stuffs put it into cargo and have a companion to retrieve it for you at the airport not onboard the cabin. On another side note i have a friend working on the flight deck for MAS. Ground desk service and and tarmac ramp work has deteriorated ever since AeroDarat took over. Staffs on check in are not in proper attire, with many just donning staff id tags, Confusion most of the times when handling flights and sometimes pretty slow paced that tech crew got pissed. Sometimes almost leading passengers to the wrong gate for MASWings. These staffs are new post Diploma/SPM recruits as MAS terminated majority of the previous staffs and as a result service end provision has deteriorated on certain sectors such as KUL,BKI, SBW, though stations such as KCH and TWU were efficient. Transition to train this new staffs were insufficient as only a few seniors were there to properly guide them. This will take time to adjust but as you can see some passengers have begun to complain. Another recent case involving MAB again and no check in crew to assist them. A MOTHER and her 4-month-old infant missed their flight after they were denied entry for not displaying their boarding passes on two handphones. Read More : http://www.nst.com.my/news/2017/02/210259/actionline-mum-baby-miss-flight-due-e-passes Not sure if this is related to the check in crew. But i am very sure mobile passes are only needed for the barcodes not how many digital copies in each pax phones. Any IT tech savy will know this but apparently not airline/airport staffs. I got a similar treatment from AirAsia at BKI recently i checked in through my phone with the 3d barcode ready on the airasia app but the airasia staff before bag and body scanning asked me to go back to kiosk to print as the boarding pass on my phone is not OFFICIAL LOL heck barcode is there to scan, if thats the case i think mobile check in is useless to beat the baggage drop and self kiosk queue and it is mention on the website that BKI is one the stations supporting 3D barcode
  17. If the pax got injured is okay over here. But if this were to be in a place e.g down under. The airline better prep good lawyers cause lawsuits from passengers are common. Another drawback to why Airlines have written hard stubborn policies to cabin crew nowadays and it is better to wait for proper staff to do the other duty.
  18. I think i saw a while back where garuda's flight attendent carried an elderly pax during late disembark. While the crew key touch was excellent and rewarding. It could be a potential nightmare for cabin crews who are unaware. Lot of stuffs couldve happen and if the FA suffers from ailments from it even worse. There was one story where the cabin crew even had to resign. I am very sure no airline and no insurance will ever cover the cost for it, yes it is cruel and calculative in the airline industry. It has been specified in very detail on the crews policy. In the end courtesy and help is indeed good but do not put cabin crew in a position where they might lose their jobs.
  19. If they can fill up the seats yes it is lucarative. They are getting the b777-300er as opposed to the fuel gauzzling a340-300 back then that has limited seating capacity. The 300er can be fitted up 450seats in high density way more than the a340s and use less fuel burn. The only downside is the plane may need higher passenger loads to break even than the fuel efficient and light weight a350s. They have work more on the auxiliary income and marketing.
  20. Definitely bad Customer Service response by MAS or is it under aerodarat? Knowing it is peak season they shouldve adjusted standbys and priority listing but the system is unable to do so. My friend had a similar experience with Thai Airways and he lost his connecting flight(they moved him to the next available flight) but it is useless as he is still unable to attend his meeting. It seems quite a number airlines have begun to employ this seat flooding overbooking algorithm in its system for additional seat revenue capacity to anticipate current pax might change flight or cancelled/no show on flights. Selling more seats than the plane could hold. It is pretty unfair to the consumers.
  21. One of children of Sabah's Chief MInister got married and there were other Construction Projects that needed officiating.
