  8. I think they use the A388 on the KUL-MED-KUL scheduled flights a few times a week. Also yesterday, they used the A388 on the KUL-HKG-KUL for MH432/433. Maybe they will reinstate the A388 on the KUL-NRT-KUL route with the new agreement. Hope they get to start the HND flights too with a widebody to connect to JLs flights to North America. At present, some flight options requires a change of airports and it is a 90 minute train ride.
  9. Wow what an increase for some airports but sadly some have suffered tremendously. Amazing that some airports have recorded a 50% increment, hopefully it increases since they are neglected

  13. Some input from MAVCOM on integrated terminals, explaining why the decline in KUL traffic last year. Interesting comparison and explanation of reasons for the development of the airport. Of course it does not discuss the finer things like customer services etc but its a start with the new gomen conducting studies on the growth of KUL in view of intense competition from SIN and BKK. Also worth knowing that they use the terms T1 and T2 in reference to KLIA and KLIA2 https://www.mavcom.my/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/190417-Benefits-of-Integrated-Terminals-.pdf
  14. Totally agree with flee that KLIA cannot afford to be backward just because they do not attract the premium market AND one has to stay competitive in order to survive especially when BKK and SIN are not far away ahead from KUL numbers. Also CGK and MNL could soon overtake KUL in the preferred airport in the region after SIN and BKK. Bear in mind that KUL does not only need to target full service carriers but also the low cost carriers where they have an equal amount of share at present at KUL. If KUL does not aspire to become something big, it will be a shame as they could do so much more than they are at the moment. I am of the impression that MAHB is very content with its' efforts and thinks that is the end of it as opposed to striving more continuously. Look at SIN, they are just an island and have so little resources but they come up with creative ideas and dream big in order to survive. Actually, they have to and they have achieved so much, why not KUL also think big and make continuous improvements to stay ahead of its competitors? No, they don't think that far, look at the mess they made with Terminal 2 or better known as KLIA2. Constantly repairing the damage they themselves created at the expense of the tax payers and passengers. It is the "tidak apa" attitude that brings KUL down where it is today although skytrax is not the most reliable survey platform. If you read through the news article on KUL's downgrading in airport ranking, you will notice that there is a response from MAHB on the poor ranking, giving reasons for that. "Excuses" is more like it since they don't see it as a way forward to improve their offering by charging the passengers more in taxes. Just my thoughts.
  15. My ideas would include the following :- 1) First, train the staff and bring them to a higher standard for international airport staff. Ensure regular audits in a year, carry out team building initiatives, reward them accordingly based on the SOP and KPI. Also regular training programmes to improve the level of services offered. 2) Rebrand KLIA to just KL International Airport; namely Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The whole fuss about KLIA and KLIA2 is such a confusion to most people, a hassle and also a mouthful. 3) Have regular audits in all aspects of the international standards by international bodies and of course raise the benchmark for local audits such as CAAM and MAVCOM etc 4) Improve the toilets in the airport, the ones located at the SB and MTB are just appalling even as recent as two weeks ago, poor ventilation and its disgusting. Of course the cause of this is the user but the maintenance is another issue. They are still using cheap detergents that is not appealing and makes the fragrance combo an awful experience. Train the toilet captains to maintain a certain level of cleanliness. 5) Oh and the aerotrain needs an immediate revamp or a total overhaul. Till then, just have bus transfers between the terminals. Having a walking bridge or tunnel for KLIA will not be the solution, Malaysians usually don't want to walk and the buggy services are very limited for KLIA2. After all, the infrastructure for the aerotrain is already in place, just rectify the technical issues. 6) Improve parking facilities at the designated parking lots, why has L2 become a premium parking lot when it can be a pick up and go facility? 7) Open tender for the airport hotel operator as the quality has dropped tremendously since Pan Pacific left KUL grounds. It feels like a monopoly of the entire airport grounds by certain quarters. Just an idea which may or may not be practical for KUL. Let's hope for the best in view of the uncertainty of Malaysia Airlines and the impact of the changes it may cost KUL.
  16. I have experienced this before in 2014 and 2016 on my flight to LHR and the crew would actually come to the front of a set of say three to four rows and announce the menu for that meal. It is alright if they do not serve menu cards but I guess the PTV display for the menu may have been out of order, which they usually do.
  17. 1) They have empty lots on the way to the Anjung Tinjau and can occupy them (McD and KFC and maybe a Pappa Rich) 2) Also, I wonder if they will switch off the airconditioning at that area as they are always saving electricity in that area by switching it off or at least that is how it feels usually. 3) I was wondering if the Plane Spotter Deck will be frequented by our slithery friends from the nearby plantations?
  18. Yes exactly, according to their standards and no one overlooks their quality measurement tools Oh let's hope they don't. After all, they (MAHB) have made profits over the years and they have no money now to expand/refurbish the terminal and of course no money to address these issues at KLIA; even LHR has become better over the years. Their toilets are so clean and well maintained, at least from my experience there.
  19. And yet they say they have exceeded the service quality targets? Just complacent and not innovative like our neighbor down south.
  20. In other news; Daim: Foreign companies showing interest in Malaysia Airlines' stake By Bernama - March 25, 2019 @ 11:13pm KUALA LUMPUR: Several foreign companies, including from Europe, Asia and the Middle East, are keen to acquire a stake in Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB), the Council of Eminent Persons chairman Tun Daim Zainuddin said. He said they do not necessarily take over the whole company but may hold only part of the national carrier's interest that is currently 100 per cent owned by Khazanah Nasional Bhd. “Alhamdulillah, those who are keen to buy MAB stocks are either from Asia, Europe and the Middle East. They have expressed their wish to the government and some have written to me. "They can do research on the company (MAB)," he said in an interview on TV3’s prime-time Buletin Utama tonight. Daim said the aviation sector is increasingly complex and complicated, and huge funds and expertise are extremely important to grow the business. Consequently, he said if part of MAB's interest is sold to a foreign company, it will get capital injections and expertise, indirectly restoring the company. “It is okay if others want to buy our stocks, if they want to bring in expertise, then bring it," he said. He said the government should not interfere with the national carrier’s operations and it is suffice to lend its support it by helping to secure landing rights at strategic locations. Daim, however, does not see the need to review the proposed merger of Malaysia Airlines and Airasia as previously mentioned. “Malaysia Airlines is a premium airline, while AirAsia is a low-cost carrier. It is better that they compete ... (We get) better value then," he said. Daim said whatever the government's decide, the future and welfare of MAB's employees should be safeguarded as they are the ones who would bring the company out of the financial problems. -- BERNAMA 1,224 reads
