  1. I've been on one recently, SQ106/SQ107. To be honest, both ways had less than 50 pax..at most 60 maybe. J class was half filled for outbound, inbound was filled to the brim as it was the last flight for the day for SQ SIN-KUL flight. B772ER and A333. This is not sustainable for SQ for long run.
  2. From what I've read form another forum, AR plan to acquire ex-QR A346 is out of the window. However, they do plan to take more A343 in and A333 or A332, I can't remember. I do recall under IJ time, he said MH doesn't find being in an alliance beneficial as it requires you to cut ties with some existing code share partners and going into bed with new ones. At that time, MH just didn't have the time to do that as it was busy 'plugging the hole on the sinking boat'. To expand in it network, MH signed gazillion amount of code sharing deals with numerous airlines throughout the Earth. Grab a copy of MH's Going Places, you will know what I mean. The situation might have changed now as most big FSC of SEA are now in alliance. MH may really need to buckle up for another roller coaster ride. Hopefully FY will supplement MH network and not cannabalising into MH's own bread and butter route.
  3. Now, now, everyone please don't quarrel. There are many choices out there. If michgyver is really being forced to take AK, then we should understand his situation. If others prefer other airlines, then let it be. Its free world, should support one another not screaming at each other.
  4. Congrats to Tony!!! Just a matter of time the government 'allows' Sydney flight.
  5. hahas!! sorry...am so tired due to jet lag. I meant the main terminal building. Took a picture as well..but I do not know how to upload to the forum. Someone do point teach. Thanks!
  6. Am not sure but, I saw a new B738 parked near the end of domestic terminal yesterday with its radome opened. Since 9M-MXA is in KK now, I think its 9M-MXB, but I maybe wrong.
  7. BI had six B763ER at the point of retirement with V8-RBK and V8-RBL has different configuration from others. All B767-33A/ER. V8-RBK is now ready for delivery and flew out of Brunei yesterday. All others are due in 2011. I am not sure whether MAS Engineering has the capability to do overhaul for B763, but I maybe wrong. Some B763ER has flew to Paya Lebar as well. Goodbye 763ER....So long gold toilet.
  8. Actually the hangar looks like the one in Brunei International Airport. Skyliner-aviation.de reported that all BI's ex 763ER are now being converted in Brunei. One might have left yesterday fro delivery.
  9. Wow!!! looking sexy in Aerosvit colours....was sexy in BI's previously as well.
  10. Wow!! I was onboard 9V-SRI when you took the pix..thank you for the pix. Short flight and amazing crews. Btw, saw the new MH B738 also...looks rather "plain".
  11. Actually all six are going to AeroSvit according to skyliner-aviation.de. http://skyliner-aviation.de/regdb.main?LC=nav4&page=4 Those PTV are leftover from SQ, basically, BI just 'plastered' their SkyShow over KrisShow..
  12. Perhaps so...talk abt nationalism....guess they are not that extreme.
  13. Just came in...LH, QF and SQ are now doing engines swapping. Problems are detected in some engines....Not a very good sign for RR...
  14. Just got the e-mail from AK...Hmmm...which destinations to fly to??? wonder....
  15. Most of my uni mates use the KLM tag on flights when they go back for summer holiday. I asked them why not AirAsia or their own Garuda. Their reply: Both AK and GA are el cheapo aka too cheap but poor service). I was like: Eerrr.....*speechless*
  16. I am sure about that, maybe. However, there is some ppl out there said those A380 flight cost a bit more than B77W or B744 itself. Hmm..perhaps when A380s was just introduced. But now its a common sight, Singapore at least.
  17. Well I do not know much about how the pay scale works, but recently I bought ticket to Melbourne for next month. EK charges around RM3,500+, MH RM3,800 and SQ at RM 3,019 transiting at Changi. One may assume that the ticket I got is bargain but even as SQ charge cheaper price they are still earning profit in the end. Assuming partial of crew salary come for ticket sale....other airlines like EK, SQ etc still win hand down due to their wide network and better revenue management? No? Sorry am still learning...don't flame me yea? By the way, am flying A333, A380, B772 and B744...first trip with SQ...hopefully it would be great, especially the B747!!!
  18. My sister will be flying back fro SIN to BWN soon as well. Equipment listed is 772. Seems like RBA is 'abusing' their B777 like what SQ did last time. On a side note, BI has retired all of its B763. Pity, never got a chance to fly on it.
  19. True!!! just realised, nice observation!!
  20. Although I do not condone extra charges, however lets get creative. Lets see what can be charged: Check in at counter (soon) Online check in Double the charges for changing name, itinerary Double the charges for extra baggages (both online and over the counter) and excess baggages. 1st bag fee during non-peak season 1st bag fee during peak season 1st bag fee for popular tourist destinations Every second or subsequent bags charges per kg carried. Self check in at the kiosk Using the staircase to get into the plane Each toilet usage (charge per minute use) Using toilet papers, tissue papers and hand shampoo usage Each baby bassinet use (charges per hour) Each carry on luggage with double charges for every extra weight: charge per milligrams Each musical instrument carried Using overhead compartments (as mentioned) Carrying infant rollers and sports equipment Using Oxygen mask during emergency Using Oxygen release mechanism Reading safety card Reading the inflight magazine Bring back admin fee (double it) Priority Boarding fees (double it) Hot seats selection (double it) All pax must buy at least minimum of RM15 worth of merchandise or duty free Double the food and beverages charges (eating nasi lemak at 40K feet is a whole new experiences, ok?) Using cutleries to eat or drink ...to add to the list, the above charges will be charged per way/sector. Now EVERYBODY CAN FLY LOW COST!!!!
  21. I foresee that AK will start to be SEA's Ryanair soon. Just checked KUL-BWN sector, BI, MH and AK fares, BI came much more cheaper, then MH lastly AK..Used to fly AK a lot, but for Brunei-KL sector just got much more expensive although they have added another frequency. For Pete's sake just bring back the fuel surcharge+ admin charge+ convenience fees+ double extra kilo surcharges...should be enough to fund the new airplanes. Why not charge RM1 per toilet entry?? Oppss, forgot that RM 1 coins are no longer in use... Then again, there is "if-you-don't-like, don't fly them then" mentality, so before anyone bomb me, I have decided not to fly AK anymore, back to legacy airlines.
  22. I got the guy at the right most at the top picture for my KUL-BWN sector last month. Apparently he is very senior in RBA. Think he is a Chief Steward or Inflight Service Manager. That aside....from what I see the flight is 'pretty much' empty...how long will RBA sustain this?
  23. In the end I got A319...to make the thing worse, both sectors were by V8-RBR..almost got the same seats!! T.T...So long B767! Anyways, saw one B767 parked outside hangar. Most probably will be retired soon.
  24. Yap, I can confirmed that BI is taking SQ's 9V-SVA, SVB, SVC and SVD. SVF, SQA and SVB are in service by now if I am not mistaken. The retirement of B763 will soon commence..no more 'golden throne'...
