  1. Aha ,so it was you guys at the threshold of 32L on TUE/12,thought I saw "potential MW shutterbugs when I was on short finals "XANADU 2703".The Paki pilot sounds really confused on R/T with KUL App that day.
  2. For me,I always follow company SOP and manufacturers FCTM when it comes to Take offs and landings regardless of the weather conditions, its been like that for the past 20 years of my flying career.Any smooth or grizzle landing is a definite plus and bonus. But I cant vouch for that if the FO is doing the Take offs or landings.
  3. Thats an Armee del'Air / French Air Force AWACS E3F.Its operating base is at Istres AFB.Probably on its way to Australia for an ADEX.
  4. Obviously the writer is not aviation savvy. You do not use turbo propeller acronyms but its usually abbreviated to just turbo props.Just like turbo fans, turbo jets, turbo shafts and etc.Flying turbo props maybe cool to some people but you must always weigh the economies of scale to the business preposition as opposed to nostalgic or romance of flying, albeit from the so called coined "community airline".
  5. The info that you got there is totally off the mark.It was done by XAA.Flown by 2 Capts and 1 FO (Capts Azhan and Omar Shuib).I know that for sure because I flew back XAA from OOL today and saw the names of both Capts for the flight to HGH in the aircrafts MR 1.And I met Capt Azhan today at the Ops room before leaving home after flight from OOL.
  6. Spoilers are used to spoil the lift from an airfoil so as to make the airplane stop on landing ie reduced the LDA (landing distance available).Normally it is armed by the pilots prior to touch down and it is activated once the weight on the mainwheels is activated (oleo compression). If used as a speedbrake then only the inner spoilers will be deployed simultaneuosly, again by pilot manual activation. On some aircraft differential spoiler activation is used to assist the airplane in the rolling axis,to help in turning/rolling the airplane.
  7. You can catch some military helis at Camp Sri Mahkota Kluang, the base for the Army Aviation Corps.Formerly it was the RMAF rotary wing flying school (PULATIBANG 2 / No.2 Flying Training Ctr)
  8. The B200T are maritime patrol airplanes operated by No.16 Sqn RMAF Subang..The callsign Kenchana that means its on an operational mission.
  9. from sources inside Transmile, due to complaints and pressure from Fedex,UPS to the US DoT,Transmile is no longer cleared to operate to the US if it operates from SZB but must operate from KUL if it still wants to fly to the US.for flights to Europe is probably not effected.
  10. The TAM A320 accident at Conganhas Airport was a result of mishandling of aircraft with 1 reverser inoperative and not because of overspeed or overshot.please get the facts right.

    Odd shots

SU-30MKM fin strakes for aerodynamic stability.Hawk 208 Probe for Air-to-Air refueling.(NATO standard type probe and drogue) SU-30MKM canard for agile aerodynamic manouvering.SU-30MKM vectored nozzle for extreme agile manouvering Tail shot of A320-216 9M-AFY APU exhaust and tail navigation lights.APU provides electrics and bleed air engine start and airconditioning via the aircraft ACPs (AirConditioningPacks)Flew that particular aircraft yesterday (18/01/08) KUL-SUB-KUL sector (AK 916/917).
  12. Norman,on the A380 only inboard engines can do reverse thrust. The A380 have only two hydraulic systems (Green and Yellow, pressure at 5000psi) instead of the normal 3 systems on Airbus aircraft (Green,Blue and Yellow, pressure at 3000psi).I was in Toulouse last year doing CCQ A320-A330,and took the opportunity to see the A380 Sim,it really look like a spacecraft rather than an airplane cockpit I must say.
  13. Sure Azri,Ill pass that to Snack Attack management. The latest on the KUL/DAC/KUL charters,AirAsiaX will stop using the A330 for the flight to DAC with the final flight at the end of this month so as to enable the aircraft to be utilised on the flights to HGH.Meanwhile the charter flights to DAC will be done with A320 equipment with a daily flight instead off 4 times a week.
  14. AirAsiaX is known as XAX/D7,not AAX.R/T is XANADU.First A330-343 (RR engine) is planned to arrive in Sept 08,while the second aircraft will be in Nov 08.As far as the charter flight to DAC,its still ongoing untill at least Mar 08,infact tomorrow (16/01/08) Im doing D7 2992 KUL/DAC/KUL with an ETD at 0830H and on Sat (19/01/08) will be doing D7 2994 with an ETD at 1735H.
  15. Last week while I was doing KUL-KBR sector heard from R/T transmission that youre cool F50 airline Fireflyz with a POB of only 5.Thats 4 operating crew plus 1 pax.How to make money like that. And it was a flight from SZB-JHB. Another was a flight from PEN-SZB with a POB of 10,although slightly better but its not making much of an impact is it.That day I was doing KUL/PEN/KUL/BKI/KUL sector and my plane for all 4 sectors was 80% full plus underbelly cargo. And last Mon (7/1/08) did flight KUL-OOL,manage to climb to initial cruise FL370 and finally to FL410 at TNK VOR,we outclimb the MH flight to YBBN that night, but cant say for the POB though, our POB that night was 85% full, probably it was more than ours since it was an extra flight (MH7371).
  16. AirAsiaX/XAX/D7 uses MTB for charter flights from DAC.Did that flight last week.(D7 2994/2995)
  17. The evolution of modernday air warfare. The countermeasures just keep coming up to defeat modernday weapons. go and checkout the Air warfare doctrine in USAF and RAAF.
  18. Care to elaborate oh you the most exalted one from youre periphery loft in MH management. There are lots of ex MH heavy jet drivers in AK,they also bicker about their former employer. Its no different, what more with all the rot and nipotism thats going on in MH. Just because a person alledgedly witnessed an approach in bad weather followed by a landing, questions come to mind: 1.How did he know what was the actual reported wx at the time. 2.Is he a qualified person to comment on such matters (ie Test Pilot,FOSI DCA,QFI,TRI,Pro Pilot) 3.Heard rumors or hearsay from colleagues 4.Maybe an isolated incident. Mind you in AK with the current fleet of A320s (214 & 216) there is an FDA team who monitors all flight parameters and is independant of flight ops, will report any spike in flight data (ie unstabilized app, high speed app and taxi, late configuration, hard landing etc).Im sure its the same in MAS. By the way have you all noticed the spate of airturnbacks and aircraft going unserviceable in MH lately?
  19. A very valid point you have there my friend, but the RMAF is not privy as to what it can have and what it wants as opposed to what the political masters have in mind.

    Air Asia X

Just to inform everyone here again,AirAsiaX is D7/XAX and not AKX.Previously we were using XFA when the company was known as Fly Asian Express, now it has changed to AirAsiaX.For charter ops ,the company that hires AirAsiaX to do the charter will have to pay bothways, eventhough the load is from DAC to KUL.If you have doubts you can ask our MAS/MH charter division manager.

    Air Asia X

9M-XAA is on longterm lease from AWAS (6 years lease).A/c no.1 and 2 will arrive from Airbus SAS in Sept ans Nov 2008 respectively. The DAC charters are already up and running. Will be flown 4 times a week during downtime before flights to OOL.Flight nimbers are D7 2994 and return D7 2995.AirAsiaX/XAX/D7 is planning to lease 2 x A340-300 for direct flights to Europe and London-Stansted,hopefully the operation will be up and running by Nov 2008.
  22. The geographical location for Broome looks pretty wrong,I think its more to Alice Springs than to Broome.Broome should be on the north West of Australia in the Kimberley Plateu.that shows again how serious is dato IJ and his spindoctors are missguiding the malaysian public.Yesterday (9/12/07) there was a massive tropical storm in Sydney and the airport was closed to all traffic.heard that when I was flying back from OOL to KUL.Lots of aircraft were diverted from Sydney to other airports,OOL included. In fact for the flight from OOL to KUL,encountered lots of turbulence and weather from the VOR at TAM/Taroom ,all along the airways A464 until TN/Tindal ,South of Darwin. We were cruising at FL380 and later climbed at TN to FL400 but were still affected by the weather system.
  23. For A320 ops,we do not used pallets, but use bulk loading.Only on the A330 does pallet loading is used. All cargo handling is carried out by ATR Express and not by KLAS.KLAS only does ground handling for AirAsiaX/XAX/D7 operations. One of the cargo operations manager was an operations manager herself who was posted recently to handle that division within AK group.Flights to SZX/Schenzen,MFM/Macau,OOL/Gold Coast are filled with cargo in the belly of the planes.
  24. Saw the switchblades at their nest at RAAF Amberley in 1995.These beast have such raw power and have seen them at low level doing TFR.No other aircraft can fly faster than an F111 Aadvark/Pig at low level, not even the Tornado MRCA.
