  2. I'll quickly add a few more for you guys. Kelvin, as you loved the A345, here's a few more: And for Uncle Pieter, This aircraft is under tow but I see two pilots? in there. What is the requirement when towing? And a close up on the tail with your name? A few more rare visitors from OZ This one sneek past me... And a bit blurred Glad you liked it LeeCH. I thought SQ is planning to upgrade to daily for CHC route? Either way, with summer coming it's much better for spotting. I'll definitely go spotting again come summer (and after my exams). Do give me a yell if your staying over the weekend from Nov onwards. Perhaps I can meet up with you for a spotting session?
  3. Good to know there's no tailstrike. But surely it was a close call, by the looks of it anyway. Thanks for sharing guys. More?
  4. Very nice shots Ketko. Lots of variety. Thanks very much for sharing. And welcome aboard!
  5. Thanks again for the comments guys. LeeCH, come back in summer and you can spot all day long. Unfortunately I've been occupied with my studies and haven't had time to go through the remaining photos. So for those you were waiting, my apologies. So I'm going to upload the rest of the 'unblurred' ones now. Continuing... Westpac Rescue Helicopter More of LeeCH's toy... Closeup... The might Trent Whole body shot The birdy tail And he's off Come back again LeeCh, ya? The Arab slowing down... And the kangaroo... "Gidday mate" Smaller kangaroo... Trents! Arab cooling off... ANZ B733 lining up... Blink blink... Poor little guy from Origin Pacific going nowhere... So called the ugly duckling in ANZ fleet Kangaroo hoping off to a short trip To my surprise, the QF 767 came in right in front of me... Star Alliance livery Ugly duckling off again Polynesian Blue with winglets And to finish it off... a few less common ones... Hope you enjoyed it all guys. Thanks for reading and commenting. Back to my busy studies once again...
  6. Thanks to those who have commented. Here are some more for all of you guys. Keeping a close eye on the markings on the tarmac Gavin, here's another B1900 for you Another little guy coming in with strobbie... Evidence of the gusty winds on the day Raj, here are some larger guys, As usual the shy SQ hiding far far away...Leech for ya! The wingspan looking good And for Min Chun and Mohd Idham, Feel free to comment guys.
  7. Funny you asked this question Min Chun. I am currently doing a project on designing a 'smarter' ELT. Basically when an ELT activates, it will send out a distress signal which a satellite will detect and in turn the search and rescue will be notified. The newer 406MHz system uses Doppler Effect to approximate the location of the signal. The satellite system is also known as Cospas-Sarsat (www.cospas-sarsat.org).
  8. Here are some more... Chaity for you, the spinning props... Plenty of domestic movements...
  9. Thanks for the comments guys. Chaity, glad you liked it. Got plenty of props that day. Walter, it is due to the strong wind. In fact the N winds was really gusty that day they switched the active runway to Runway 29. It was very fun watching them landing as they would be banking left to right. Raj, it was a little cloudy but a nice day nonetheless. More for you when I have a bit more time. Cheers.
  10. A few photos to start off from the recent spotting session in NZCH. Being the last day of winter, gusty N winds have return and made it felt more like summer. The usuals, ANZ ATR-72s The smaller guy, Slightly bigger guy, [staring competition in progress...] And the foreign invasions from across the ditch... And afar... (Imran, your 4-holer! )
  11. So much for Emirate's bunch of red bellies then.
  12. Not bad at all Andrew. Keep taking more photos and show them off at MW.
  13. Happy to hear you're safe Attan, along with your friend. Do rest well and keep flying!
  14. I read about this on A.net a while ago. It seems that this happens when a brand new engine is started up for the first time. The fire is caused when the protective coating inside the engine is burnt off (or something like that). Here's the link: http://www.airliners.net/discussions/gener...95/6/#ID2841995 Would be pretty cool flying in a 737 with afterburner?
  15. Nice pics guys. Thanks for sharing. Any more pics TK? It's nice to see a fellow MW flying into NZ. Too bad you didn't go further south to the South Island. Perhaps in future you can make a short holiday touring NZ.
  16. Hey Pieter. Nice to know that you're planning to pay a visit to the deep south to the Land of the Long Clouds. I'm in Christchurch by the way. When are you planning to visit NZ?
  17. Maybe not as sharp as the darkside pros but no matter Edwin. I still enjoyed every single one of them, especially the widebodies. I remember you mention in some other thread that you're using Canon S2 or something? Thanks for sharing bro.
  18. Cool. Nice to see you going to join the Lord Siths in KL. Looking forward to your photos from KLIA. Safe trip and happy clicking.
  19. AKL Traffic....drooooollll! Nice photos Naresh. Enjoyed them all. I see you're based in AKL too. How come everyone is in AKL? Me so lonely when going spotting in CHC. Anymore?
  20. It has something to do with the fact that the BAe 146 had it's butt wide open on approach isn't it? Is it unusual to see an aircraft to deploy speed brake so late in flight i.e. on approach?
  21. Well, my photos are not particularly crystal clear but I'd say they looked asian. Speaking of hiring pilots from around the world, I've never seen an ang moh SQ pilot. I've seen the crew a number of times arriving and leaving their hotel and always asian. Learning something new everyday. Thanks for the info Imran. Imran, how come so quiet? Did you enjoy your main course?
  22. It does look very clean indeed. Love it! Looking forward to more nice photos Eric. Thanks for sharing.
  23. Okay, the long wait is over...a least for Imran that is. Round 6: Imran's Main Course EK A345 making her way in Air Pacific, wait your turn! 4-holer first! A little blurred. Sorry ah. Brake brake... Smile Imran. For footballer fans too. Easy there girl...easy... There you go Imran, bon appetit.
  24. Raj, you mean if the pilot is ang moh or wearing white? I think all SQ pilots are asian? Perhaps our SQ pilots can share with us if they hire any or many foreign pilots. Thanks Pieter. I too love the wingflex, especially on B777. If you ever decide coming to NZ please let us 'Kiwis' know and we'll be glad to show you around.
  25. Yeah, I'm teasing you. Don't worry, I'll be dedicating one whole round to you soon. Patience. Round 5: Finishing off SQ B772 Thundering down Runway 02 Rotate! Go Baby GO! Positive climb rate. Gear up. Haere rā, me hoki mai anō koe! [Goodbye, you must return again]
