When I first saw this earlier in the week, AirAsia was the furthest carrier from my mind. Great marketing

2013 Aircraft Deliveries to MAS Group, AirAsia Group & Malindo
Peter Smith replied to flee's topic in General Aviation
Not all landing fees are based on weight (and if they are it is calculated on MTOW not actual). A lot of airports have adopted a price per passenger fee for RPT flights, and this is physically calculated on the number of passengers onboard (excluding crew) so in effect if one day you bring in 150 people, you will be charged 150 x whatever the price per pax is, and the next if you have only 1 passenger, you are onyl charged for one. Great idea to encourage airlines to stick it out through tougher times by immediately reducing their costs. -

Cathay Evaluating Widebody Needs, Considering A380s And 747-8s
Peter Smith replied to alberttky's topic in General Aviation
Boeing have had a strategically placed 747-8i billboard right outside Cathay City for sometime, obviously with intention of attracting Mr Slosar and the boards attention each day. Clever marketing. -
-MSx registered will have de-rated engines for shorter haul, regional/domestic flying. Correct me if I am wrong, however they will be in a similar config to the current -MLx series

High drama: Qantas python's flying circus

Ironically, the aircraft was VH-QOW, which is in the Toronga Western Plains Zoo scheme -
Did anyone photograph A320 OE-IBP going for test flight yesterday? Or know which carrier it is headed to?

Each Sunday, EY418 (and return as 411) is opb a VA 77W. This is to not only allow better utilisation of the EY flight, but also prevents what would otherwise be a 30 or so hour layover between flights for the VA bird in AUH. This wet lease arrangement has been in place for sometime now - which is lucky for KUL spotters who have had the opportunity to spot the livery in its original guise, the transition and in full Virgin Australia scheme.

Interesting that PK-AZA was a Tianjin built machine. This would be the first exported Chinese built Airbus -
TZ5 "Scooter 5" OOL-SIN I believe is the flight in question, operated by 9V-OTA. It departed back to SIN as "Scooter 5 Delta" and yes I believe was weather related

If true, this would not be entirely surprising -
As well as A320's 9M-AQQ (sharklets) and AQS due in KUL tomorrow on delivery, so is Lao Airlines next A320 RPDL-34224 in all white livery.

With the general attitude displayed in this topic, is it any wonder invites to events such as this are few and far between these days? Criticizing MH for asking to have pictures removed is certainly not going to change anyone's opinion, let alone aid the cause to have members included. Comparing AK to MH is interesting as it seems all have forgotten about a similar request being made by the former regarding photos just a few years ago. Working in the industry, I can fully appreciate why MH requested the pictures be removed. With the internet becoming an evermore powerful medium, secrets are much harder kept - however in this case, its just a matter of everyone being patient, not unnecessarily irate.
