Naim 6 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 Incident: AirAsia A320 near Kuching on Nov 4th 2008, technical problem By Simon Hradecky, created Wednesday, Nov 5th 2008 19:02Z, last updated Wednesday, Nov 5th 2008 19:02Z The crew of an AirAsia Airbus A320-200, flight AK5202 from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching (Malaysia) with 65 people on board, declared emergency due to unspecified technical problems while on approach to Kuching and entered a holding for about 20 minutes to troubleshoot. After a technical examination of the aircraft the return flight with 152 passengers reached Kuala Lumpur with a delay of 3 hours. http://avherald.com/h?article=40f831eb&opt=

Mohd. Afiq A. 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 Not being a pilot what are the problems with landing with flaps locked? Generally, you will come in for the approach with higher pitch, speed will be so much faster then usual. You almost don't have to flare on touchdown because of your attitude. I am not too good with aviation words. What is SFCC in full ? Slats Flaps Control Computer

Ashmil Abd Ghani 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 You mean AFA? It's the oldest A320 in AK's fleet. Out from 'workshop' after long long time 'MC' and again create problem again..AK should follow Airbus advice to write off this plane after the horrible accident.. How the fleet now??Still at KCH?? Radzi 2 Report post Posted November 6, 2008 The problem of lesser flap setting for landing is the longer runway length required. That is due to the higher stall speed (remember that flaps increase lift) and therefore the speed at touchdown is higher (around 210 kts instead of around 150 kts). A flapless landing will require around 7000 ft of runway, KCH has 8000 ft now before lengthening. Anyway this was seen in KCH this morning............. No sign of AFA though. Not sure where it departed to. JED or KUL? Looks pretty light for JED.
