How to make more money

Recommended Posts

Guess, they didn't want to charge my CC for 0.02 :p

You should've seen the charge on my CC for the THB1 hotel room when it was converted back to AUD. :D

Original rate was THB0.01 but I was told they could not charge ppl's CC for THB0.01.

Sorry don't know where to put, so I think here might be suitable.

Today I was on a flight from BKI to MYY again, and what I see from other flight which was BKI-PEN, only 1 person used the express boarding, and called by name personally by the AK staff, but the problem is only 1 out of an almost full flight! What's worst is that although there is still a line for elderly and children, but the staff no longer wait until those people get near the aircraft before releasing all other people, they just let everybody off to run to the aircraft right after the elderly and childre. But how do you expect the elderly and children run faster then the young guy... And as for my flight, nobody even used the express boarding!

As for another case in JBH, which told by my relatives, there was no line dedicated to elderly and children, unless express boarding.

So, in some sense, AK may think they are making money from the xpress boarding (which i dont' think they do, since nobody do that), butt they are actually reducing the image of how people see them!

Okay, ranted enough and sorry for the poor English.

What would happened id everybody in the flight used xpress boarding ...?

During my last trip from KL to Kuching ..

Everybody sprinted like a chicken to the aircraft ...and the worst, there was old woman knocked down .

AK ground staff only laughed when they saw this scenario ..

Maybe they bertaruh (betting ?) who come first to the aircraft ...

Fendy, sometimes money is not the problem for us to fly AK, but the schedule of MAS! Why don't you suggest us to buy our own aircraft? Which we can fly when we want and sit where we want?

Nizam, so did anyone helped the woman?

LCCT and AK with their apron (read: parking lot style) race-to-the aircraft style has turned ordinary Malaysians into chickens, hasn't it? If I were one of the ground staff members, watching this scenario on a daily basis, I too would be inevitably cynically indifferent!

I mean, please, why do people have to be impatient to board an aircraft? To help TF maintain its 25-minute turnaround time practice? You'll end up in the same plane, sitting within centimetres away from screaming kids anyway (in my case, during the last BKI-KUL flight I took, my bald head had been a toy for a sugar-induced 2-year old impossibly uncontrollable boy in the row behind me. I nearly lost my sanity). As far as I'm concerned, our rushing habit is ugly and has been cleverly manipulated by TF - Xpress Boarding, RM20 a pop; chicken run to the aircraft, priceless.

My dream is to see passengers gingerly walk the 1.5km journey to the aircraft with the crew restlessly looking at their watches.

The same scenario also happen on arrival. The rush to disembark and race to the terminal. C'mon, for what? To be the first to wait at the baggage reclaim? Unless you travel with only hand-luggage (which is rare, as far as malaysians are concerned)

What would happened id everybody in the flight used xpress boarding ...?

It won't happen I think. Malaysians are just as kedekut as they are saya nak dulu.

Glossary:

kedekut - stingy

saya nak dulu - me first

During my only flight with AK, I was the last to board. I had a leisurely walk to the aircraft. I even had time to talk to a few photographers on the apron at LCCT. And I still have my seat, I still arrive on time. And as usual, I was almost the last to leave.

Will I pay for express boarding? NEVER!

Sorry to say this, but this rushing and running to the aircraft shows the low-class mentality of the people. Ugly Malaysians at its worst.

As for standing before the aircraft even stops, well, please don't do it. If the seat belt sign is still on, and you fly on the ground, don't blame me for jumping on the brake. It has been done before.

What would happened id everybody in the flight used xpress boarding ...?

More money for TF, and the chicken will still run.

I think this rushing to be first is not only confine to AK. Even in MH when sometime, well most of the time when boarding, notice that announcement made for passenger from certain rows to board first and followed by the next row was never adhered to. And the gate crew would turn a blind eye to this as if encouraging the habit. Its not like th a/c would go off first without the rest of the pax anyway....

Not just among pax. Funny thing is when pax trying to cut the pilots during scanning for international flight. I don't know what on earth they were thinking. or sometimes intercept last minute to put their hand luggage for scanning first.

its a give or take thing la. we cant have what we want all the time. if the schedule of mas doesnt suit you then deal with the passengers rushing to the aircraft. if you can't then fly with mas and get the assigned seat.

your sarcasm is not appreciated.

We are in dire needs for a nationwide campaign to to educate everyone on this... hahaha.

Checklist:

1. gather several popular artistes (Anuar, Ziana Zain, Amy Mastura, Normala Samsudin etc. -- ex-crew) as ambassador

2. theme song

3. radio/tv space

4. billboards

5. flyers, buntings

6. and of course, in true malaysian spirit, INTRODUCE IT AS A SUBJECT IN SCHOOL! Hahahhaha

I'd gladly let them. Let see if they can fly without pilots. Unfortunately there is this unwritten code that pilots are allowed to jump queue at the scanning machine, normally aided by the security officers.

I agree that this rushing thing is not confined only to AK. However on MH the rushing is less prevalent; I've never seen a pasanger run to the aircraft just to the first to board. I've seen them running when they are late though.

I don't mind giving AK a little extra money, for it allowed me to travel to places I'd never imagined I'd visit. RM230 return, all taxes included, to SDK non-stop on brand new planes, compared to the competition's RM1,350 via BKI.

Hehehe ... I have no complaints, since I can do without express boarding or onboard meals or whatever 'nice-to-have' thingies they have. The key is, my kids in KBR and PEN can frequently fly home for weekends paying just between RM80-RM100 per trip (that's just a bit more than fares for premium overnight express buses). And I get to go to places like HAN, DPS, PDG, CNX, etc, for a bit more than RM200. This weekend I'm off to BKK and following weekend to TWU again for a spot of fishing in Semporna, my 3rd trip to Sabah this year alone. After that 2 trips to LGK within a week (at RM90 return). Hey, man, I'm ok, thanks. :)

Pok 'Im, you should be featured in the AK newsletter! So do you, Rozhan.

Anyway, I have tried AK's innovative web check-in on my flight back to BKI on Sunday.

In it's website, AK is reminding pax intending to use the service to that you are required to print the Web Check-In Boarding Pass, make sure you have access to a printer.

They really mean that. You have only ONE chance to directly send t to print. The window pop-up that is your boarding pass cannot be saved or right-clicked. I ended up having to use printscreen after the Internet cafe's printer didn't work that time!

And this is the result!

dsc9145or9.jpg

A 2-page A4 printout

At security, the guard was bemused. So were AK's own staff at the gate.

If anything, the Seq# is cool, hahah.

So be very sure your printer works and prints the boarding pass the first time!

I can do with some gift vouchers too :). Yeah Naim, I got some bookings ahead of me due to AK's almost endless sales and special offers thus far this year. Next month to Tawau and perhaps a short trip to Sipadan to see one of the most talked about islands politically. End of year to see Labuan and LGK for LIMA07. Wonder where I'll go next. Maybe Air Asia X's inaugural flight to wherever it flies to first.

Ewan, what web browser did you use to print the boarding pass? I actually got to save it using IE6 with the File-Save As- Webpage, complete feature, and printed a number of times.

Initially the complete boarding pass was printed on two pages using portrait orientation on the printer setting. I had the printer on and it was automatic... as soon as the boarding pass page appeared.

But since the second page only contained a little part of the entire boarding pass i.e. the barcodes, I tweaked my IE6 browser a bit by using View-Text Size-Smallest. Then I reprinted again, and everything went into a single page nicely.

Since the boarding pass page 'pops out' in a minimalist page, I Ctrl-N it to open in a new complete page with all the toolbars to allow me to do as the above i.e. change font size, save web page and do reprints. Try it out next time in case the first printing gets 'messed up'.

I got Seq#1 as well at 2.40am for a flight at 8.05am.

Hmmm... I was somekind of an old IE web-browser at a Net cafe.

And my Windows skill is somehow limited hehehhe. My bad. Well, if it works for you, then it should be nothing to worry about! :)

Pay for late check in. This make more money. 30 minutes before departure RM 30/pax. 15 minutes before departure RM 60/pax and double up for those arrive 5 minutes before the flight take off.

What a brilliant idea ! :good: Not that late check-in's, even the "5 minutes prior" cases, will impact much on their current operations, most flights are either delayed, rescheduled or cancelled anyway ! :D

I would edit the PNR out of the image if the reservation is still active, if I were you.

It was for a June 10th flight, and you know AK's policy on no-show pax........
