Aircraft Spotting

Recommended Posts

During the day, while working, you look at the sky and see an airplane flying over you. What first crosses your mind, is what airline it is and what type of aircraft. Now I just want to know what type of aircraft and maybe the airline that you all see in the sky (from any day).

I'll start it out

Today I saw (during school hours):

World Airways McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30(F)

October 15, 2006:

American Airlines Boeing 757-226

Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-3H4

October 3, 2006 (during school hours):

American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-82

Septemder 25, 2006:

Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-7H4

China Airlines Boeing 747-409

September 16, 2006

Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-467

Interesting stuff, Andrew... That reminds me of my secondary school whose airspace above is a main airway. I used to look up into the sky and often times see interesting planes. When T7 was still new at that time, we had the privilege to see longley passing above our heads!

And, yes, most of the time I'd speculate on the airlines those planes passing by on the basis of belly paint scheme and sometimes the tail if visible at all.

Interesting... :)

I saw... the office ceiling :sorry: :(

But on outdoor days, I see lots of various aircraft on Northern Approach into KLIA.. AK320s, 733s, MH744s, 777s, A330s, loads and loads of 734s! And the occasional TG330, CX-EQV..

In Perth, I see all outbound northern departures :) My house is under the Nambu 3 SID :) oh yeah, and I see all northern 5 mile-7 mile visual arrivals too when 03 is in use :)

The best moments I encountered was being crossed by an airplane's shadow when it's flying. I experienced once while driving (B747) and the second time (an MD plane) while walking. The feeling is like "bright-cloudy-bright" over me in 2 seconds and I can see the plane's shadow move away from me. As I look up, the plane flies away...

Also spotted Hibiscus 744 twice this year.
