Cebu Pacific to KUL

Recommended Posts

Cebu Pacific has reported that it will be commencng services to KLIA beginning with 4 weekly services.

Here is the news release by Cebu Pacific:

Cebu Pacific flies Manila-Kuala Lumpur for only P1,499

Cebu Pacific (CEB) will start flying a direct service from Manila to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia four times weekly starting November 30, 2006 with a special introductory offer of only P1,499 one-way. The Kuala Lumpur seat sale will run from October 11 to 18 only.

The Manila-Kuala Lumpur service will be operated using CEB’s brand new Airbus A319 aircraft and is scheduled to operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The flight departs from Manila at 8:55pm, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 12:25am the following day. The flight then leaves Kuala Lumpur at 1:10am and arrives back in Manila at 5:00am

The airline will launch its Manila-Kuala Lumpur service with a seat sale fare of only P1,499 one-way, a price cut of almost 90% from the current fares for this route. This promo will run from October 11 to 18 and is good for travel from November 30, 2006 to January 31, 2007. Fare is exclusive of surcharges and government tax.

CEB will operate from the KL International Airport, Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) with ground handling facilities provided by Kuala Lumpur Airport Services (KLAS).

“We’re proud to be the only Filipino carrier operating on the Manila-Kuala Lumpur route. With the opening of this new regional destination, we hope to stimulate travel for both leisure and business sectors which will definitely benefit the economies of both the Philippines and Malaysia,” Lance Gokongwei, CEB President and CEO said.

Malaysia is known for its business and tourist attractions such as its Lake Gardens, Central Markets and the Petronas Twin Towers – The world’s second tallest building, symbolizing Malaysia’s astounding economic growth over the last decade.

“Kuala Lumpur is our fifth regional destination and the seventh new destination opened this year. As we continue with our expansion program, we remain dedicated to our vision to bring travel closer to more Filipinos by continuing to provide the lowest fares to any destination we fly to. We are also excited about the prospects of providing the lowest cost direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Manila as this will surely help grow tourist arrivals from Malaysia,” Gokongwei added.

After the seat sale, the lowest ‘Go’ fare to Kuala Lumpur starts from P1,999 one-way, still more than 85% lower than the current fares for this route. The best way to get tickets is through the airline’s website (www.cebupacificair.com)

Now in its 11th year, CEB has the newest fleet in the Philippines and one of the newest in Asia as it operates 12 brand new Airbus aircraft for its 20 domestic and 5 regional destinations. The airline awaits the delivery of two more Airbus aircraft in early 2007 to complete its $670 million re-fleeting program.

nice to see that Cebu Pacific will be the first carrier to operate from the LCCT apart from AirAsia Group! Sorry to see however that the flights will be at night.. hence no chance of spotting them! Unless our VIP crew gets access to the Airside tower for some night photography again :)

Just did a quick play on their reservation system and the lowest promo fare in RM is $99 oneway.

A return trip = $198 + $223 = $421

Kuala Lumpur LCC Terminal - Manila

that's not bad.. mind you AirAsia's 23.99 special fares to Clark are hard to beat. This will be purely for convenience of their passengers to be landing straight into Manila Ninoy Aquino.

I'm trying to get more information about Cebu Pacific about the meals (not sure it's provided or you have to buy your own meal) but didn't have much information except the check in baggage allowance is 20kg.

However they got 2 very nice TV advertisement and here's the link:

Bad times for spotters, but excellent times (9pm-5am) to fill the 'gap' in schedules during the wee hours :good:

Good news for KUL, but I hope they last really long and this could also mean MH may reduce services eventually perhaps ?

:clapping:

No, they already fly daily to MNL................perhaps downgrade the equipment :good: Well, we never know what will happen until 2-3 months of Cebu Pacific progress flying to Malaysia........and MH still be able to provide services that can beat Cebu, that make the pax think less about the fare.

However they got 2 very nice TV advertisement and here's the link:

I think the second ad about time is quite boring, uninteresting and pretty bad :pardon: The first on is OK......

They do serve complimentary meals onboard. Seat pitch on Cebu Pacific is 29", only 1 class system.

By the way, any idea how's the load on MH flight between KUL/MNL ?

My remarks were from the airline's point of view ;)

But then won't this aircraft be on the ground for a number of hours in daylight hours prior to this flight??? AXM schedules flights so that the majority of the fleet is home between 1am and 6am for the all important night checks :)

But I think i'm reading you wrong again Pieter, hehe so please do elaborate some more... forgive me, it's friday and the brain has gone into weekend mode following my Banana Leaf lunch :)

Indeed, most aircraft would be on the ground during the night for some sort of checks, however, planes are there to 'earn money' and this is an excellent way to generate that by operating 'overnight trips'...

The only KLM flights doing so commercially AFAIK is KL0461/0462 which have a 1900z/2325z-0230z/0730z time-frame...

Ofcourse, we've lot's and lot's of nightstops at 'outstations'...(but that's a different story)...

More positive Cebu Pacific news:

Cebu Pacific To Order Up To 20 A320s

March 13, 2007

Philippine airline Cebu Pacific said on Tuesday it would order up to 20 Airbus A320 planes worth USD$1.3 billion to expand its regional and domestic routes.

President Lance Gokongwei said his company had made a firm offer to buy 10 planes to be delivered between 2010 and 2012, while the other 10 were options.

"This will allow us to grow our fleet from 14 Airbus aircraft to 32 Airbus aircraft by 2013," Gokongwei told a news conference.

He said two of the orders were to replace leases that would expire in 2012.

"With this fleet expansion, we will be more than doubling our capacity," Gokongwei said.

Cebu Pacific expects the number of passengers to reach 10 million in 2013 from 5 million this year.

Cebu Pacific, the country's second largest airline after flag carrier Philippine Airlines, currently flies to 20 domestic and seven regional destinations using 10 A319 planes and four A320s.

Gokongwei said Cebu Pacific's fleet has an average age of less than one year.

News release from Airbus about Cebu Pacific's order for 20 more A320s:

Cebu Pacific goes for twenty more A320 aircraft

13 March 2007

Cebu Pacific, the Philippines' low fare leader, has signed a contract for the purchase of ten more A320 aircraft, with options on five aircraft and purchase rights on a further five aircraft. The airline placed an initial order for 12 A320 Family aircraft in September 2004, with the last one of these aircraft delivered earlier this month. Since the delivery of the first A320 in May 2005, Cebu Pacific has totally replaced its fleet of DC-9 and Boeing 757 aircraft. The new A320 aircraft will be used to further expand Cebu Pacific's network that currently extends to 26 domestic and 10 international destinations.

More than 5,000 A320 Family aircraft have been ordered by customers worldwide, over 1,200 of which are from customers in Asia-Pacific. The A320 Family has proved to be extremely popular with both full-service and low-cost airlines across the region, with more than 600 aircraft currently in service with 39 operators in the region. It also has a widespread reputation for high dispatch reliability even on short hops, with wide aisles facilitating quick turnarounds for efficient operations.

"Our partnership with Airbus has been a key component in our domestic expansion and in intensifying our foray into the international arena. Our fleet of Airbus aircraft has helped in enabling us to offer the lowest fares in the market. Because of the aircraft's high performance, aircraft utilization is maximized, thereby increasing operational efficiency", said Cebu Pacific President and CEO Lance Y. Gokongwei.

"The A320 Family has proven to be an outstandingly popular choice with both start-up and established low-cost carriers all around the world and I am delighted that Cebu Pacific's experience of low operating costs and high passenger appeal over the past two years has resulted in this further vote of confidence in the aircraft", said Airbus Chief Operating Officer - Customers, John Leahy.

The A320 Family's unique operational commonality allows pilots and maintenance crews to work across the Family range and delivers valuable savings in training and operational efficiency. Designed to optimise revenue through cabin adaptability and passenger comfort, the A320 Family feature the most modern and complete fly-by-wire technology available on any single-aisle aircraft in its category.

With around 1600 sales in the last two years alone, the A320 Family is also the fastest-selling jet airliner of all time. The Airbus A320 Family has been ordered by, or is in service with, more than 200 customers and operators worldwide. More than 3,000 A320 family aircraft have already been delivered and have completed 30 million flight cycles and 50 million flight hours.

Is Clark a convenient airport to fly to, or is Aquino much better - to go into Manila I mean? And what about spotting - is that allowed in the Philippines?

Aquino is a lot better. If i'm not mistaken, Clark is a military airport and located about an hour from makati (MNL business district).

And what about spotting - is that allowed in the Philippines?

Spotting is allowed in the Philippines for civil airports: never had any problems there when I regularly visited the country between 1980-1998; military airports is a different story, though...however, Levent, being a European, you might have a few 'odd' looks from the people passing you, especially the gals :pardon:

Clark used to be the USAF base in the Philippines, located at Angeles City, about 1-1.5 hour NW of MNL...in the olden days, when it was still a base, it was quite difficult to reach that place, but nowadays, being turned into a civil airport, I don't think it will be a difficult matter anymore ;) Do take plenty of ground travel-time into consideration, as traffic is extremely slow in the Phils and traffic-jams occur regularly

Aquino is more convenient when you want to visit MNL, especially the Makati area...but, scenery wise, I would opt for the Clark (field) with her majestic volcano close-by...
