flee 5 Report post Posted August 14, 2015 Will -XBA and subsequent deliveries be the new 242t variant? The latest information I have is that D7(or its Thai/Indonesian associates) will receive 242 tonne versions of the aircraft from MSN1707 onwards. 9M-XBA is MSN1619 (235T). The next five will still be the 235T version. As such, the seventh aircraft will be 242T - delivery should be late next year.

flee 5 Report post Posted August 14, 2015 They have not taken delivery of the XB series yet. All I can say is that D7 is still a long way from turning around - they are painting a rosy picture for 2H 2015. But that was what they did for 2H 2014 too - and look what happened! I think that they will need to make a decision on selling their older planes at some point in time...
Tom/PER 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Also saw a report on a Singapore blog site that A320 -AFL has been painted all white, was formerly in the Ace Skyrider scheme. New special livery pending or possibly on the move maybe? I used to think that A330's would be relatively easy to sell on the market, but none of those former SQ ones have been placed with other operators yet and they are only 5yrs old too. flee 5 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 I used to think that A330's would be relatively easy to sell on the market, but none of those former SQ ones have been placed with other operators yet and they are only 5yrs old too. Supply for A333s was tight about 6-7 years ago. Now that B787s are running at full production rates, and A350s are ramping up, the A333s are no longer in big demand. JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2015 AirAsia X recently announced they will only be taking three more A330ceo over the next three years before transitioning into A330neo in second quarter in 2018. One more in 2015, two for 2016; zero delivery for 2017. Suffice to say 9M-XBA, XBB, XBC will be delivered gradually. The remainder allocated MSN 1670 and 1674 will now be cancelled. After the initial deferral announcement in Nov-2014 AirAsia X was projecting a fleet of 40 A330ceos before taking its first A330neo in second quarter in 2018. As a result, the group now plans to have only 29 A330ceo before transitioning to the A330neo. AirAsia previously placed an order for 45 new A330ceo orders with six leased aircraft from ILFC. Tom/PER 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2015 Yep delivery of -XBA next month with -XBB and -XBC set to follow in March 2016. Be interesting to see where msn 1670 and 1674 end up as they are already partially painted in D7 livery. I wonder if -XBA is replacing -XAA which was slated for withdrawal in Q3? Your guess is as good as mine - the aircraft that are currently on wet leases would be likely candidates when those leases end. Another possibility - when XBA arrives, they can pull one of the aircraft that is currently operating D7 scheduled flights and send it down to DPS.
