flee 5 Report post Posted February 29, 2016 The latest update from D7 is that they will receive 3 aircraft in 2016. One is to replace 9M-XAA (MSN 54) while two are for growth. Meanwhile, XJ will receive an additional aircraft in 2016. No new aircraft deliveries for 2017 – 1H2018. With the delivery of MSN 1659 (9M-XBC) to D7, there are three more deliveries pending. Three completed frames leased from BOC are still stored. MSN 1646 MSN 1670 MSN 1674 I think that these are the frames that will be delivered into active service in 2016. The original order was for 10 aircraft with 5 options. It is believed that the 5 options have now been converted to the A330-900. The general feeling now is that the A350-900 may now be too big for them - the Airasia X configuration will have 420+ seats. They are more focused on bringing in the A330-900 and have already mentioned using a 360 seat configuration for this. I will not be surprised if the A350 order slips further past 2020 while Airasia X's business position is constantly reviewed. I will also not be surprised if the A350 order is converted to A330-900s. Correct. The A350XWB order might not see the light of the day as the order was initially booked because Airbus was reluctant to launch new gen A330. Now that the storyline has changed, won't be surprising if all is converted to A330neo. AirAsia X is now proposing to use A330neo with 360 seats for its planned KUL-LGW route, scheduled for 2018 launching. Current A330-343X has 377 seats. flee 5 Report post Posted March 5, 2016 I think having 360 seats is a pretty good idea. Airasia X load factors are seldom, if ever, higher than 90% or 340 pax. The quiet zone product is a good one - and this is reflected by the premium that is now charged for such seats. If the quiet zone cabin can be improved by making the seats 2-4-2 with 34 inch seat pitch, we should be able to see this cabin increase its load factor with good yields. I believe, this may be delivered later in the year, perhaps prior to starting their Mauritius services. MSN 1670, 9M-XBA was probably brought in for their Tehran services. Another Airasia X n.t.u.
