AirAsia To Get 96 Non Trunk Routes Under Rationalisation Plan

Recommended Posts

So far Hyatt Regency KK is a 4-star hotel and the MAS crew still currently going there. Haven't seen them sending the crews to other hotel yet.

If able to upgrade to Presidental Suite with less than RM 50 is a bargain.

..... To prevent tongues from wagging, conditions are they must be of the same sex

If people are intent on wagging their tongues needlessly, your suggestion could perhaps set them wagging even more vigorously ! :D :D :D

DHAKA (AFP) - Malaysia's AirAsia said its new joint venture budget airline in Bangladesh will start flights in October by offering fares at least 40 percent below other carriers, an official said.

The company, which will team up with Bangladesh's East West Airlines to launch Air East Asia, plans to operate daily flights between the capital Dhaka to Chennai and Kolkata in India as well as Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.

Looks like those bangladesh in Malaysia can go home, dunno what will happen to Biman

I hope MH will maintain the night tourist fares (YN), Special Excursion Fares (YEE30) and other discounted fares for senior citizens and students etc. The definition of not be allowed to sell tickets below their full economy fares is still vague in needs clarification.

I think MAS will maintain the Special Excursion Fares (YEE30) 'cause it's counted as full economy fare. As for Grads, well, i think they should cancel that program.

So, MH is hoping to turn around more domestic routes after announcing that only 4 were profitable.

Can any of you name the 4 profitable destinations ? My wild guess are

- KUL/BKI

- KUL/KCH

- KUL/PEN

i think MH better announce bankcrupt and start off again.. with proper management of course..

I don't think this will ever happen ...... Lucky that MAS is not the flag carrier of Swisszerland, otherwise MAS would had gone burst several years ago. MAS is pretty much like a "government department" you know ? Hence the base salary of all their staff. MAS staff base salary is among the lowest in the world (for airline industry).

Too bad, under new company, no medical benefits, crew meals, transportation n etc. But the good news free 6 or 8 f.o.c tickets

Fairizuan, are you one of the 6500 unlucky ones ?? :o :o

Any idea what these 19 aircrafts comprises of?

I believe they are 10x F50, 6x Twin-Otter and up to 15x 734.

Given all the facts and benefits enjoyed by many MAS crew, from company paid transportation to free crew meals/drinks onboard, free uniform to well covered medical benefits, guaranteed self privacy during long layover/nightstop... many MAS crew against the idea.

Nobody would like it :( :(

So for a 744 trip, there are 20-odd rooms booked, 1 for each and every crew member? Dang.

All major carriers are doing this. And in fact, MAS staffs aren't staying in the nicest hotel, but SQ are. SQ crew even get free broadband access from their room in almost every hotels they stay. The main problem isn't here, the best solution is to have a whole new management and to have ACA check MAS account books once a quater.

But of course your suggestion is very good, for now. But people in charge of crew rostering will be very   LOL !

All this time i tot cabin crew gets the double beds which they have to share with another collegue and only flight crew are entitled to full single private bedroom.

Nope. They all get their own room. And that's mostly in 5-star hotel cool.gif Not even those normal people who travel regularly get to stay in 5-star hotel all the time mad.gif It's so good to be flight crew/cabin crew :p :p

Then I guess MAS rent the whole/few floor in Hyatt Regency KK just for the crews since BKI have quite amount of MAS flights that doing nightstop.

I'm not sure if this is the case for MAS at Hyatt Regency KK but AF crews, they all stay in different floors at Le Meridien Hotel, Singapore.

Adrian, Hyatt Regency KK is a 5-star hotel actually. They have that 5-star certificate in the lobby.

In the late 90s, MAS sent their crew to 2 hotels (for nightstop), the Hyatt Regency and Promenade Hotel. MAS crew only stayed in Promenade Hotel for a few years only then they all back to Hyatt Regency. Promenade Hotel is a 4-star hotel, by the way.

Well i beg ur pardon that MAS crew isnt staying at hotels as good as the ones SQ puts up their crew....the hotels that the MAS crew are staying are all top-notch...its some of the worlds leading names at almost every destination..having stayed there with them...i know that they are getting some of the best...sometimes with free breakfast in the mornings...and free broadband access is becoming a standard facility almost everywhere....juz to name a few..theres Le Meridien Mumbai...Rennaisance Cairo (which is arguing to be a 6 star hotel) its an amazing place really.....many of the locals consider it as the best in egypt...

Opps ...... ok, sorry. I take my words. Broadband internet access can indeed be found in most 5-star hotel nowadays but if my memory serves me correctly, none or only a few hotels that MAS crew stay provide this free service. And in certain hotels, there's crew lounge with free internet access but they have to wait for their turn.

Not for the case in ADL, from being put up at Hyatt Regency Adelaide (5 star) to the Rendezvous and now at the Holiday Inn which used to be Novotel Adelaide.

SQ and CX put their crews up at the Hilton. So I guess it depends on the destination.

From 5-star to 4-star :( Anyway, 4-star isn't bad after all.

Wow ! I did a search just now, what a huge difference between "Holiday Inn ADL" and "Hilton ADL". The Hilton ADL is so luxurious.

Well you should check out Hyatt Regency ADL as well, it's even more luxurious than Hilton ADL. The rooms are much bigger as well. My family stayed there during their 1st trip to ADL in 2003 to visit me.

MAS have released the schedule after 1/8/2006. You can check from their website. For SBW alone, only SBW-KCH and SBW-KUL will be served by MAS B734. All others including F50 routes from SBW are gone!

Hyatt Regency KK is definitely not a 5-star hotel, no matter what the certificate says. If you ask me, its only 3-3.5 star at best. If HR KK is 5 star, how would you clasify The Four Seasons Langkawi ? 8 star ? :p

A case of 'in theory..., but in practise...' hey. ;)

I stayed at the 4p in Sydney to be told that it's a 3* property but it felt more like 4* to me and much nicer than the supposedly 4* Crowne Plaza in MEL, where I stayed the time my air conditioning failed in summer.

Hhmm Four Points Sydney, my home in SYD <_<

It used to be a Nikko Hotel and IMO its the finest 4P in the world. Rooms are small but quite stylish (as nice as some US Westins). If you are SPG Plat, you will be upgraded to either an Maritime Studio (Jr Suite) or Darling Harbour Suite (2X size of standard room).

Personally I would rank it at the lower end of a 4 star if you get a decent sized room. However, the US rating system is quite different from Europe/Asia Pacific; in the US only the very, very top end gets a 5 star or 5 diamond rating. Unless its the Peninsula or Four Seasons, most very nice hotels are only rated 4 star. So I wont be surprised if an American says the 4P SYD is only 3 star.

Believe it or not, some travel agency in Malaysia are selling fly/stay packages and tagging the 4P SYD as a 5 star hotel  I generally dont trust travel agents here !

I am not sure about current arrangements, but I used to see many SQ pilots staying here. The SQ girls, however, stays elsewhere .

Unfortunately as a student the best I could make would be SPG Gold and PC Gold, even with mattress runs thrown in. Not much in the way for Golds hey? Maybe I should do away with PC and focus on getting SPG Plat... now that's a thought...

The Langham Club the other hand...is easily doable. The upgrades would come in handy when i visit AKL.

I only got into frequent stay programs recently. Been rather fun. :D

Anyhoo I'm locked in for the following this year:

Le Meridien Orchard Rd, Singapore

HI Phuket (the mistake rate one on Patong beach)

HI BKK (the one next to the IC)

HIX Causeway Bay (only hotel we could find on HK Island that's decent, point-earning and affordable - flex rate at only HKD680/night!). Looks much nicer than US-based HIXs too.

Langham AKL

Crowne Plaza Mutiara KUL

Four Points Chicago Downtown/Mag Mile

Langham Boston (as a contingency in case plans in Colorado with a friend falls through)

Westin Grand Washington DC

Care to comment? Half of them are flex bookings so I could always change...

plus some random budget hotel in Manhattan reccomended by some FTers so i'm pretty sure that's good quality for what it's worth. Just by 5th Avenue and Times Square.

Le Meridien SIN is a very good hotel. The room is very clean and nice. The bathtub is big enough. Go down to the lobby around 9.00PM everyday and you'll see AF crew there checking out.

Thanks Isaac. What I'm interested to know is where these crew members, umm...socialise? :D :D

I've posted a thread in the golden lounge to prevent this one from going OT. Respond away over there in the safety of not going OT. :)

Any ideas that where AK crew accomodation here in Sarawak? For MH F/As,they're staying at Hilton Kuching, and at my hometown, they're staying at Kingwood Sibu. But there are rumors that the F/A nightstop place will be moved to brand new Parkcity Everly Hotel in Sibu Town, which just located next to Wisma Sanyan.
