Tiger Airways rebrands as Tigerair

Recommended Posts

Nice clean and modern look - but for many reasons, my least favourite LCC plying the KUL-SIN route.

We were having a discussion on what was happening with 9V-TAS at the Malaysian Wings Anniversary:

We now know the reason why the titles were not there! :)

Yes, I agree that this partial revamp of the livery is a step backwards.

Among the improvements planned by Tiger in conjunction with the rebranding:

  • Ability to make changes to flight bookings online (this went live on July 3)
  • New fare product bundles that cater to different travelers' needs
  • Online pre-purchase of meals and snacks for all Tigerair flights
  • Many more destinations in the region
  • Mobile and web check-in for all passengers

The roll over to the new corporate identity is pretty smooth, even the new website is sporting the new interface. And it is group wide rebranding with SEAir Philippines rebranded as Tigerair Philippines and Tiger Airways Mandala being Tigerair Mandala.

One major improvement: WE CAN FINALLY DO WEB CHECK-IN!! Now we are talking about 21st century airline!!!

Tiger Airways Unveils New Corporate Logo, Now Known As Tigerair

SINGAPORE, July 3 (Bernama) -- Travellers in Asia can now look forward to a brand new Tigerair, as Asia's leading group of budget carriers unveiled its new corporate identity.

Formerly known as Tiger Airways, the new branding was unveiled at a press conference held at Changi Airport's Terminal 2 Tuesday.
Sharing his vision at the press event, Koay Peng Yen, Group chief executive officer of Tiger Airways Holdings, said, "Leisure travel is all about accumulating great experiences and memories.
"We hope that the new Tigerair can represent relaxation, joy and adventure in the hearts of our customers," he said.
The new face of Tigerair has a fresh and upbeat look that embodies its brand personality - warm, passionate and genuine. The leaping tiger that used to be the main element of Tigerair's logo has made way for a contemporary grey rounded font typography, with blushing orange accents.
The Singapore-born and bred budget carrier has also been creating synergies between all Tigerair airlines in Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines by allowing customers to book connecting flights from any of these carriers.
Passengers can connect flights seamlessly in Singapore without clearing immigration or transferring their own luggage.
The airline plans to enable mobile and web check-in for all customers, allowing customers without check-in baggage to head straight to the departure lounge upon arrival at the airport.

At least they're firm and decisive on their identity, unlike the airline right in our backyard:P

Welcome Tigerair.

The problem now is that the title and the tail doesnt really gel well....

I mean the title is a bit kiddish, almost comic sans, but the tail is very serious looking pulak....

Seems the aim is to change it into a less aggressive kitty cat...

The tiger was probably seen as too aggressive, violent?...not unlike how Omanair dropped its traditional logo.
