Aircraft deliveries to accelerate in 2011

Recommended Posts

Interesting detailed report.

Malaysia Airlines in the top 40 for deliveries in 2011 - 12 aircraft .

Anyone know how many A320s Air Asia will take in 2011?

So what is MH expected to take delivery of exactly this year? And they must be getting more than 12 next year, right?

I see the reason reported this time is the same as last time "infrastructural constraints". I wonder how true that is and if so what is the actual constraint.

Visit the LCCT between 6-10am and you will know that they are really squeezing the flights in as tightly as possible!

BTW, even with 8 planes this year, I think that the majority of them would go to AirAsia Philippines, Indonesia Air Asia and Thai AirAsia.

I am not sure where they got their numbers from. MH were due to receive 5 A380s this year but those are now moved to 2012. The bulk of the deliveries will be the B738. I think that 4 A333's and 2 A332F's are also due in 2011.

I found a list of aircraft that will be delivered to Malaysia in 2011 from an investment bank report:

Domestic airlines committed to growth

The table below shows the number of committed aircraft deliveries for various airlines in Malaysia. Collectively, there are 19 new aircraft that are due to be delivered in 2011 and this may add 2.4-3.5 million seats. These additional aircraft alone will add 6%-9% of new capacity to the market.

Number of Malaysian firm aircraft deliveries in 2011

Airline Name | # new aircraft delivery | Estimate # of new capacity

AirAsia | 4 A320 | 850 to 1,250k

AirAsia X | Cancelled delivery for 6 aircraft | 250 to 500k (organic growth)

Firefly | 6 B737-800 | 1,300 to 1,750k

MAS | 4 B737-800, 5 A330-300 | 20-30k (1:1 replacement)

Total 19 aircraft | 2,420k to 3,530k

Basically we'll see:

- 4 new A320 (all AK's)

- 5 new A333 (all MH's)

- 10 new B738 (6 FY's + 4 MH's)

So the 4 A320 for AK will be delivered to AirAsia Malaysia or their subsidiaries?
