i think Maswings brand stood out pretty good. Not a low cost associated brand like Firefly. -
MAS Has Not Shelved Plans To Turn Firefly Into A Low-cost Carrier
Amirul Mazlan replied to flee's topic in General Aviation
So it means as long as AJ is still there, there's little chance Firefly will acquire jets and resume their service to Sabah and Sarawak. No direct competition with Air Asia. -
off she go to the desert is it?

The problem with maintenance, is it so hard to find and source parts? Or the fund have to go through middleman in stages? Once a friend told me the reliability of Bomba's Mil is quite good, considering it's Russian. As for the Hawks, heard story that Malaysia initially ordered like, 80s. But half of them sitting in the desert.

Lion Air and NADI announced a JV - Malindo Air

Haha, this one tops it all. If i were they, i would rename it to Canary Air. Wait, Kitty Air (since the parent is Lion, however pretty close to Kitty Hawk Airlines), or maybe Peninsular Air. -

Penang wants airport named after P. Ramlee
Amirul Mazlan replied to alberttky's topic in General Aviation
The idea have been in place for quite some time. Overall i agree to rename the airport after P. Ramlee. He was no political figure, during his time, our country were less divided than today and his legacy even continues to this day. One can't dispute his contribution to local movie scene during his era, of course it's not a one man show. Adnan Yaakob can suggest to rename Kuantan Airport too. Siti Nurhaliza Airport. -
Well, no problem during VFR conditions but it might be some kinda help when visibility down to last kilometer.

The only business model that Berjaya Group excelled at is franchise. They own few franchise (e.g. 7-11, Starbucks etc.) and it grows. Property development, car manufacturing and distribution, resorts and leisure, are all so-so only. And their airline is pretty pathetic, like Reezal said, it's been more than 20 years operating but no serious effort to grow? It's really a lost opportunity, they can pool funds to run an airline and grow to compete with Air Asia and Malaysia airlines but chose not to do it. For aviation enthusiast like us, it's quite a shame isn't it? Just look how Berjaya Times Square, such premium location, but they failed big time to capitalise on that. U mobile venture also barely surviving.

They actually initiated the fight for oil royalty before Ku Li came and support their cause. It was covered in non mainstream news portal. Sure, if you only rely on what's pop out on the TV and mainstream newspapers, few or almost none being said about their efforts. Even without the Fed support, the airport traffic continue to grow at faster pace than its neighboring east coast state. Putting politics aside, that warrants bigger fund and commitment from MAB to upgrade the airport.

It's not fair to compare Kelantan and Penang investment climate when clearly it's only the last election the Peal of the Orient fell to PR. Penang being Penang, is completely different from Kelantan, if you want to compare what kind of investment commitment made to Penang compared to Johor since last GE, you'll get the picture. Even the Penang Bridge, was approved for construction during Pak Lah time in the office and it was Gerakan which helmed the state government then. Penang Airport expansion can't be considered direct Federal investment, even though it is being done by GLC (MAHB). If you follow the news carefully you will realize, how Penang Sentral project have yet to kick off, mind you the original bus station was razed by fire in 2001. The project was approved during Pak Lah time. Economic development and progression starts from the smallest unit of economy, that is, a household. A conducive environment for petty traders to do business provide the base for stronger and more sustainable economic growth, the economy will be more resilient since most of the demand will come domestically and wont be affected. Try imagine if one day, price of oil drops, many OnG will have to adjust production, even suspending operation. What will happen to now-vibrant town of Kerteh and Terengganu, at large. Kelantan i believe has done their part to attract investment. It's more than presenting their case. Of course potential investor will ask about amenities. Steady power supply, highway networks, good airports, good seaports, gas line, tax breaks etc. If basic things can't provided by the Fed, how can they prosper?

Hope to change to a new one next year. Denying 'outcast' states of their deserved development is just not right and immature, childish.

I think the training part are more suitably catered for licensed and experienced pilots. TR training just like what AirAsia and CAE do. Our country (like the rest of the world) will never run short of aspiring ab-initios. Bet this piece of news regarding Malindo will make it to APFT, HMA, MFA and other schools' marketing brochure. -

Any idea how much the figure differs from intended weight? Are the aircraft in the production line now? Thought they solved the overweight problems by delaying the delivery to trim down the aircraft -
sure it's not PAS fault either when almost every mega projects by Federal Government always being delayed or not built at all.

i am more excited about the B787 than the LCC competition. Surely it's head to head with AirAsia Group on some routes but at least now we can have a choice.
