  1. Thanks Tony, A simple test that you can do at home is get a bicycle wheel (you'll have to detach it first Then, get a bit of tube about 20-30 cm long and attach that to the centre of the wheel. Then sit yourself on a chair that can spin around. Hold the wheel out by the tube at the end furthest from the wheel. With the other hand, spin the wheel fast!!! KEEP YOUR FEET OFF THE FLOOR! The comnbination of moments resulting from the forces being applied will spin you in the chair This is the gyroscopic effect. Then, you can realise why with some many wheels, you feel that shudder on an aircraft BTW, I believe the Shudder is more pronounced in MH cabins due to a slight difference in interior fittings... On SQ for example, there is more dampening of the interior fittings resulting in a lower tendency to shudder... This adds to weight of course which is possibly why MH has yet to invest in such fittings. Also, if the wheel brakes are INOP and the wheels are left to cool and stop spinning by themselves, this will result in increased shudder. Don't quote me on the difference between MH and SQ cabins, maybe if we have any engineers here they can let us know
  2. Hey Delwin and Tony. I feel the only way to do it is to be somewhat persistent in your efforts. Get in touch with someone from Human Resources and tell them you argument, and why you want to work there. Email them your CV and Cover letter. Send it by post also! Guarantee yourselves that it will get to their attention! Once you have a contact on the inside learn who are the other people that you need to talk to. I took around 1.5 months of dealing to score this job but it was well worth it.. No pay! but for someone like us, WELL WORTH IT Try your luck and remember to always be polite Be Persistent, NOT Pushy
  3. its to do with the wheels spinning furiously after take off. As there is no reaction force from the ground once the aircraft is just airborne, the spinning wheels cause a 'gyroscopic effect' and this translates to the shudder you feel as you take off.. the shudder is only for a moment whilst the brake is applied to stop the wheels spinning for retraction.. if there was no brakes, you would feel this shudder far more violently should the wheels be retracted.
  4. wwuuuaahhh I wish man on the contrary, there is no link between AK and UWA where I am studying... I just applied for some vacation work there and got the job.
  5. I believe KLIA will have the largest Hangar in the world still... the present MAS hangar I believe is presently the worlds largest, and the new A380 complex is set to be even bigger
  6. This is to all you guys out there in Kota Kinabalu. There is a biz plane inbound to you guys on its way to Macau from Perth. Here are the details: Aircraft Type: Challenger 601 Aircraft Rego: B-MAI ETA: 1730-1800 Transit in WBKK, onwards to Macau. If you're available, get out there and snap some shots Thanks to Liam (who spotted this beauty at the international terminal here in Perth) for the info!

    DC-10

woowweee some nice ones here I flew heaps on the DC10 between Perth and KL Loved them to bits! I believe the rego of that pic by Rozhan is 9M-MAT?
  8. ermm... all 772s are the same size maybe it's just an optical illusion you're experiencing because of the different paint scheme.. The location is the Observation hill, opposite the Sepang F1 circuit
  9. Fuuuuyooo mmaann nice lah! Very nice I love MD-11 profile is like a sexy lady do share more?!
  10. hehe.. why not right, I do it as part of my industrial training, and at the same time its something I absolutely love It was great! The team there is very professional and friendly and everyone gets to know each other.. I had a great time Yeah Liam definately man hehhehe I almost scored a trip to LGK and PEN with the flying engineer, but alas, I stayed at KLIA
  11. hey guys, thanks for the replies Sanjay, I'm studying for Bacehlor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Bachelor of Commerce (Corporate & Investment Finance) at the University of Western Australia.. one more semester to go..
  12. some more just towed her to the AK hangar by 32L light was sooooo bright but gave a nice effect like the aircraft disappearing AAP is a non-EFIS bird. BTW, the reverse throttle on engine 1 was still INOP! There was a large wire tide around it to make sure no captains on his check flight would use them mayday.. mayday!!! checking all the bulbs work! Spare bulbs are located on the F/O sides in the sidewall.. neat little compartment, I'm sure Radzi and TK are familiar with. Sorry, engine cowls only open at night, and I never brought my camera other days, so this is the closest of the engines MAS hangar looking busy!
  13. Oh mannnn the 5th Dec is a Monday.... S*#*!!!!!!!! I could change to the 4th though but my girl will kill me cos she flying out on the 5th and she can't change... dammmmmmnnnnnnn will see lah will see Too bad that additional A332 flight isn't daily... MAS!!! I'M CALLING OUT TO YOU! PLEASE START DOUBLY DAILY FLIGHTS HERE! YOU'LL FILL THEM UP, I PROMISE!!!!!!!!!
  14. Definately Isaac, what more, I believe transatlantic flights from LGW are quite popular so VS may consider this too.. Continental operates out of LGW, and if MAS were to join Skyteam, this would make sense as a destination for MH too. Picture this: LHR-KUL: MH operated, VS codeshare -->onward connections to Australasia and SEA. KUL-LGW: VS operated, MH codeshare -->onward connections to USA via skyteam partners. I think that could actually work
  15. A prelude to a resumption of air-services perhaps? we wait and see
  16. why not, SQ gets a bigger slice of the Malaysian market then, although indirectly But if KLIA develops itself as a proper hub and Changi starts losing out, then VS may really consider it. Maybe VS should operate LGW-KUL instead of LHR-KUL
  17. Here are some snaps from my time at AirAsia. Part of the compulsory vacation work for engineering students, I was lucky enough to score a 2 month stint with AK Line-maintenace Which mean't I got Up close and personal with lots of their birds some birds in red too hehehehe kidding Here is AAP just returning into service after the infamous landing in KK This is the wheel well of the aircraft All the hydraulic tanks are here System A and B on the forward right and left respectively and the backup in the centre. I had just topped up system B back to 100 qty Main wheel powerrrrrrrr more to come soon keep tuned
  18. wahhh so nice lah! That last shot, whats everyone's count on airplanes in the shot? I count 13 I think THat PIA, was it parked at the Bunga Raya??
  19. awesome lah fren.. bloody awesome hehehe ok better go and rest lah, Azahan but when you all refreshed, some more will be very nice
  20. Hey Kandiah, Probably politics and aircraft availability... Who knows, the amount of bureaucratic red-tape is unbelievable... surely cargo-wise there must be some fabulous traffic between London and KL right?? Perhaps what is stopping them is their one-world partner Qantas... As they do not fly into Perth or Brisbane anymore, BA codeshares with QF on come of its services into these places... Maybe they don't have rights at these airports??!? But I'm sure that's not possible.. will try a search for that info.. but if that is so, then maybe mounting a LHR-KUL-OZ run is a problem for them
  21. hey boss, more pics lah mann soo nice always your hangar shots!
  22. Despite my passion for MAS and all things Malaysian, sometimes u gotta admit the following: MAS: Mana Ada Sistem SIA: Sistem, Ini Ada
  23. err... how is it possible that 345 "MILLION" people fly between LHR and KUL IN A SINGLE YEAR!!!! Considering KLIA only handling 23 million a year, and 345 MILLION represents approximately 1/18th of the worlds population, its highly unlikey!!!!! don't forget MAS only has 18 weekly flights..
  24. 345 million??? are they counting the ants that may sneak onto the aircraft??? holy crap! that is one huge mistake... and she made it twice!! OMG... it kinda of weakens the statement of the article... simply shocking...
  25. Finnair, yeah I can see that would be nice for spotters is there much tourist traffic? or maybe Tourism Malaysia more actively promoting the nation in that country? Aer Lingus? WHY NOT! Time the Irish had a carrier to be proud of. Lots of Malaysians studying in Ireland also, and the number of Irish in Australia that would use this service I'm sure is great. Irish can holiday in Malaysia also, they al like the sunny weather
