  1. Sunrise in BKK is around 6 am. Those who want to make the most of their time may want to wake up a little earlier.....
  2. 25 Feb 2012 Today's specials - not too bad for an afternoon's spotting session. F-GZNE OH-LQE
  3. Wah....you really maximized your transit in HongKong! Great shots!
  4. Shocking tragic end to what was suppose to be a serence and scenic trip........RIP for the victims. Normally all conditions need to be perfect before the ballon could launch e.g. no strong winds, weather etc. Something must have gone horribly wrong for the flames to consume even the basket.
  5. Question for Norman: Noticed that you marked the Helang Hotel as a spot. Is there an observation or deck in that location? Thanks
  6. Nice shoots! I made a trip up on the cable car again this December, the hill slope seems far away. Are you on 300 or 400 mm? Next time I will find some time for spotting instead of pigging out in Kowloon :-)
  7. Nice pics of the Greyhound! One unique feature is the rear facing seats for the passengers.
  8. Thanks Norman, I used the earlier 1.1 version of Lightroom previously. Didn't quite like it then. Will give it another shot. The cataloging part is perhaps the best part of the program. Need to do something fast else most of my pictures will never see the light of the day....
  9. Thanks! I use Canon's free DPP to convert RAW to JPG and use Photoshop elements to made the adjustments - mainly contrast and crop.
  10. Yes, more after I go through the ton of raw photos. Any tips on mass output? The manual process is taking too much time.
  11. Better late then never....here's a small selection from my very fruitful trip. Sleek beauty: The Rafale Powerful adversary: The Flanker Smokey Bandits: Taufan Ganas MiG-29 lead plane with special livery. Taking the place by storm: BAe Typhoon Getting a grip of the competition: Saab Gripen Fighting Falcon of RSAF 143 Sqn

Is this an authentic colour scheme? The blue looks too dark to me.
  13. Special for the day: KAF 101 to Durban
  14. Congratulations on Malaysian WIngs 6th Anniversary. Sorry, was busy with work and completely forgot about the Anniversary. The pictures of pond side and ledang brings back good memories.... and who is the one selling imitation lotion ah? Buy original ok! Cheers! Kwek
  15. TK, you missed the veteran F-5s (probably last show - next Open House is 2014)....and the newbirds making their first appearance at the RSAF Open House - F-15SG / G550 / SH-60B / DA-40 :-0
  16. I wish I am on the way there. Looking forward to the coverage of the Kuantan AFB Open House :-)
  17. Looks like SIN is the spotting location favoured by many M'wingers eh?
  18. It's 02 season Pieter - you're on the wrong side for the cameras.
  19. Apparently both engines failed. The helicopter auto-rotated (equivalent of gliding for fixed wing), pilot aimed for an field, landed hard and broke the tail boom. Luckily the only thing broken was the tail and some bruised egoes. The fuselage remain largely undamaged.....this could have easily turned into a tragedy. Note that the Longbow radar was not attached to the aircraft. In the meantime as a precaution measure, all RSAF Apaches (and the RSN Seahawks, which shares the same engines) are grounded till the cause of the double engine failure is established. Lucky number was 2069....no luck for the punters over the weekend though. Apache 069 in happier days at Asian Aerospace 2010 Kwek
  20. Better post before this drops out of sight.... The "waiting for bus" group. None of the buses stop = the traffic lights were not quite complete yet. Wonder man group - coconut tree version.
  21. AFAIK, that's the norm. When we leave the country, we have to make sure of that too. Is it different in the EU?
  22. Hi all, The good news is that my business trip is postponed for a week. The bad news is that I have another appointment on Sat late morning and afternoon. I will only be free to meet you guys in the first half of morning for Saturday and probably Sunday, if anyone is still staying on. But with KC hanging around, I'm sure you will be in good hands. I will check here on Friday for the meeting location - Changi beach may be a better choice for action shots, departures are far and few on 20R in the mornings except for the half hour routine runway closure period. You will probably benefit more from the Crowne Plaza shooting location if Rwy 02 is in use.
  23. If by air, probably in a commecial jet or the Fokker 50 as Singapore doesn't own a fleet of aircraft for VIP use.
