Kuching International Airport (KCH/WBGG) 2019
Muhammad Firdaus replied to Tamizi Hj Tamby's topic in Observation Hill
It has been awfully quiet in KCH/WBGG tread, seemingly our local spotters are not that keen anymore probably due to lack of new attractions. Anyway just glad that AK has put KCH/WBGG as one of their scheduled destinations for their latest A321. Hope these shots of VAA can put some smile back to this thread despite the overcast background. Nice 'Zorro mask', and doesn't she look slim and long. -
Malaysia's First Outdoor Plane Observation Deck
Muhammad Firdaus replied to KS Ong's topic in Observation Hill
This is definitely one historic moment for aviation enthusiasts in Malaysia. With the first official spotters deck opened, lets hope this initiative will be extended to other large airports such as PEN, SZB, BKI and KCH. -
That is a plucky move by a mediocre airline where in its own country is struggling. Good luck

You are everywhere Prestley bro, sadly KCH has been all quiet Btw, nice catch.

Sarawak's own airline confirmed
Muhammad Firdaus replied to Muhammad Firdaus's topic in General Aviation
No wonder there is a book entitled "Humans are underrated" by Geoff Colvin. From most of the comments and thoughts here, seems most of us are very skeptical and utterly underestimating the ability of our own, well couldn't blame the typical Malaysian mindset could we? Anyway, this is a good discussion and I think we should continue, since MH inevitably will be in the list of for sale item by the current fed gov't, the Sarawak gov't could consider acquiring everything or take majority stake in MAB, and put the former successful Sarawakian CEO on the helm. He has done it before so there is no reason he can't do it again. Better than starting from scratch since everything is there except cash and the brain. That should put a big smile on the their tourism minister who has been asking for more direct link to KCH. -
Sarawak's own airline confirmed
Muhammad Firdaus replied to Muhammad Firdaus's topic in General Aviation
Ridiculous as it may seems, he had a point there as a mayor as the second largest city in Sarawak. And who say you need to have very deep pocket to create a successful airline. With creative and innovative idea and wise planning, it has been proven that you don't need to be an oil baron to succeed in this industry as proven by Sir TF. -

Sarawak's own airline confirmed
Muhammad Firdaus replied to Muhammad Firdaus's topic in General Aviation
It seems that KCH is the most underrated international airport in the country. More airline should take the earlier economic opportunities as the state's potential to become the largest economy in Malaysia is undeniable. Currently with only 3 international airlines (Scoot, Wing Air, Royal Brunei), MAHB should be more proactive in their marketing to optimise the facilities . The state government can only do so much. -
Sarawak's own airline confirmed
Muhammad Firdaus replied to Muhammad Firdaus's topic in General Aviation
Quote: ..without prior consultation with the state government (which reportedly subsidised the flights).. Even if AK is making losses at that sector, they are not actually making any losses so they should be giving it more time as load is picking up. -
Sarawak's own airline confirmed
Muhammad Firdaus replied to Muhammad Firdaus's topic in General Aviation
Probably this will give a clearer justification on the issue. Well Mr. AK sir, perhaps you could enlighten us, just bare in mind that we can sense biases. https://www.nst.com.my/opinion/columnists/2019/02/460296/should-sarawak-start-airline -
KUCHING: Sarawak is currently working out the details on a proposal to set up its own airline company. Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state government was trying to revisit the old proposal, where it expressed an interest in taking over MASWings. He said MASWings at the time was owned by Malaysia Airlines (now known as Malaysia Airlines Berhad), which was reluctant to sell it to Sarawak. “Now, we have a few options to have our own small airline connecting Kuching with other strategic destinations in the region. “We are working out the details now,” he told a press conference after launching the AirAsia Sarawak Campaign Livery at Kuching International Airport here today. Asked when it would take off, he said: “As soon as possible. That is my expectation.” http://www.theborneopost.com/2019/02/02/sarawaks-own-airline-confirmed-to-be-in-the-works-says-cm/ Is this a good news or a great news?

Nice touch on the pictures GeO. Btw, just a reminder, please do not forget the RMAF open day at RMAF Kuching Base on 27/10/2018. On static display will be A400M, Su30MKM, F/A18D, BAE Hawk and most equipment in their inventory. Aerobatic display is scheduled at 9.30am and 2.00pm. So do not miss this rare opportunity, all the best spotters. Get your weapon lock and loaded -
Look very well-maintained, clean and shiny. The paint suits the sky which makes it almost invincible. Nice shot.

How Mirus found its comfort zone in aircraft seating
Muhammad Firdaus replied to flee's topic in General Aviation
Have flown AK on this seat from KCH to KUL. Have to admit that it was aesthetically pleasing, however just prepare for the numbness if flying more than two hours. -

Wow, great dynamic shots Mr. Prestley starting with our two top guns, and the tower shot is particularly spectacular with the right amount of motion blur for otherwise very dull traffic at KCH. Thank you for sharing. -

Well, there goes another airline. It will be very interesting to see how AK and IW fight it out on this route. Price wise, AK seems to be much lower. -
Great shot, btw did MAB got a water canon salute on her arrival?

If by any chance of equipment upgrade it could be most likely during the festive seasons, the nearest would be CNY and Eid in June. So keep praying.
