  1. Not possible as there are limited connections e.g to go to Tonga you still need to go SYD or AKL for connection. You can connect to Samoa by Air Pacific and New Caledonia from Fiji but no daily flights. There is really nothing much to see in Fiji except if you are willing to spent at the resorts on the outter islands. You land at Nadi then ship out straight to the islands. To see Fiji history etc you need to go to Suva which is 30 mins by flight or 4 hours by road. Have fun...
  2. It all depends on which South Pacific Island Nations you intend to go and the flight timing and connections. Example Fiji would be best to connect through SYD. Niue through AKL. Tonga through AKL/SYD. New Caledonia through SYD. Samoa through AKL. You could also do a double trip with one connection eg. Go to Fiji through SYD spent sometime there then fly off to Samoa through Nadi, Fiji and return from Samoa to KL through AKL. There is twice weekly direct flight to PNG through Spore or you can connect through HK. Connections through SYD needs a visa, through AKL no visa required for Msian.
  3. SV Choong - good one there! Nope this time was on holiday. Given a choice you should try JetStar Business Class which just a bit more than MAS for the same route to AKL. JetStar business is way ahead of the so called Premium Class. You get meals that comes with fruits and desserts, unlimited beverages and in flight entertainment all part of the package. Only set back is no flat bed but the seats are wide enough. If I remembered correct there is also a water fountain in economy. I don't work for JetStar but just sharing experiences
  4. My last experience to AKL on Jetstar was good. You can even start your journey to SIN from KL by Jetstar by booking KL - AKL. Only setback is you need to clear your baggages in SIN and recheck in for AKL. No one through check in. If you are coming back from AKL to SIN by Jetstar you will need to spent a night in SIN as the last SIN - KL flight for the day on all carriers would have left when you arrive in SIN.
  5. C. Lee - There is no need to print the boarding pass after web check-in. Just proceed to the web check-in counter and they will issue you a proper boarding pass. If you are flying domestic with MAS and with the print out boarding pass you can proceed straight to the boarding gate without any need to go to the web check in counter unless you are flying international.
  6. My friend check this out - http://firefly.com.my/about/faq under web check in. Yes, there are people who do buy a ticket 365 years ahead but by that time the flight might no longer be operating due to commerical reasons. Sounds familiar
  7. Another very silly thing with MAS is the web check in. You can only check in online 48 hours onwards before departure. It is very inconvienent if I am on a long trip and I can't check in online for the return sector earlier as I might not have access to a printer later on.Firefly allows you to check in online 400 days ahead. Same owner 2 different systems.
  8. Yes, IFE which is under the control of the crew was switched on during the flight. Most of the screen even at the empty rows were switch on.
  9. Came back from Langkawi onboard MAS new Boeing 737-800 with IFE. Movies were being shown but no ear phones were distributed. Some passengers were watching'slient movies'. If no intention of giving out ear phones then what the hell for to have the IFE switched on. Some foreigners were laughing away and cracking jokes about 'silent movies'. Really 'malu' to be called a 5 star airline.
  10. Aussie watchdog sues AirAsia over hidden fees - http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/aussie-watchdog-sues-airasia-over-hidden-fees/
  11. No way this will happen! Connectivity is KLIA is so poor, why should airlines take the risk of moving from BKK and SIN? The question is how can MAHB keep increasing the cost after construction started. Where is the planning? Just because it is tax payers $$$$, they are running it like having a undated and no amount filled pre signed cheque. Even the KLIA website is totally carp. Flights information totally useless.
  12. Will miss Firefly jets Have used them a couple of times to East Malaysia and was pretty impress with its service, much better than AA.
  13. Returned by Firefly from Kuching yesterday. Imagine still playing Selamat Hari Raya inflight music when Hari Raya is way finished! The lead steward inflight announcement needs improvement badly, can hardly pronounce the english words.
  14. Was on a Firefly flight to Sandakan this morning, announcement on board says booking is opened now for flights till 31st Dec 2011. Not sure if the announcement was pre-recorded or MAS change of plans again. Even the Firefly crew don't know themselves.
  15. Me too I have stopped flying AK long long ago and won't even bothered to look anymore on what they have to offered! Sales on other full service airlines or even FireFly are better. At least I know that my flight is waiting on the day of my flying. AK you might be in a shock when you time come to fly - The route is NO LONGER IN OPERATION due to commercial resaons
  16. Where is the $$$ coming from to buy back the shares in the open market??? If it is taken private, looks like another bail out!
  17. Check this out - http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_MY/offerspromotions/offerslanding?refID=e4694c811ce2f210VgnVCM1000000ad21c39____&WAcampid=KUL_OFFERS_HKSC2011&WAemail=HOME The half day is complimentary and you need to register. Very easy and you can do it when you arrive at Hong Kong cos it is the same travel agent that takes care of your airport transfer to your hotel. Just go to their counter.
  18. If you looking for a package with hotel then CX gives you a better deal. CX has very rates with a lots of hotels in Hong Kong and its packages comes with airport transfer to hotel and vice versa. There is a complimentary half day city tour as well which is very professionally done. Depending on which flight you are taking, the morning flight on CX is a B773.
  19. I do fly a lot in my work. To me is an airlines might not be accorded 5* but if the service is excellent I am happy. Sometimes it amaze me, how are the airlines judged? Honestly for long haul economoy MAS sucks - old aircraft, AVOD don't work and the list goes on and on ! Nowadays MAS don't even give the amenities kit for day flights not exceeding 7 hours in Biz. To me that's is bad cos the amenities really promotes the class of the airline. Since I am travelling on company's account - can't complain much. If that happened on flight in bound to Australia it will be different believe me - MAS will be sued on the spot as the Australia airport authorities take a serious view on such matters. I have personally experience it.
  20. Once my TG flight from Rome to Bangkok arrived in Bangkok late due to some technical matters and I missed my connecting flight also on TG to KL. Just as the aircraft opened upon landing, a cabin crew came and inform me that a ground staff will be waiting for me at the aircraft door to escort me to the hotel as I have missed my connecting flight. Wow, I was escorted to the hotel, all meals provided for until my return flight later in the night. To me that is service and I will remember it all the time.
