  1. They gonna get a 3rd F50!? I thought one of their ATR72 is arriving this dec? If they gonna get a 3rd F50 my guess is borrow it from MASwings or lease from other operator. I think there is one abandoned Pelangi F50 outside SZB, unless they wanna repair it, bath her and install the engines.
  2. I am so agree with you, Alan, ATR is much much uglier than Q400. Still lingers in me is the questions of why all happen on SAS (and SAS linked companies) where as other airlines like Jeju air and ANA is the only Q400 case that is not related to SAS? Could be SAS at fault? The CGH salty environment where SAS Q400 based at? If Bomboardier is at fault, why Flybe still have lots of confidence and mass buying them even after all this SAS incident? But I guess I understand why MH chose ATR since ATR72 is direct replacement to F50 with the advantages of more seats and similar performance output. Where as Q400 is an total (almost) upgrade in every specs include range, speed and so on. MASWings is not going to operate flights more than 1.5 hours which Q400 able to fly 3.5 hours max. So it's going to be waste of range capability unless they decide to do BKI-SZB or BKI-KBR routes then they need Q400.
  3. 25 years and it looked exactly the same before the renovation works started (or even before FAX took over the RAS... oh how I missed those days)
  4. Theres another 3 things to add: - - F50 don't do rear door boarding - First delivery of F50 to DLT Germany was in 1987 - When the first F50 delivered to MH, it was already in new red-blue color scheme
  5. Ahh I can hear it now... the wave of cheers from the local spotters
  6. ATR didn't mention about ATR range at their website. Q400 on the other hand, can do SZB-BKI direct within 2.5 to 3 hours duration with creme de la creme turboprop PW150A engines. Luv 'em! And toilet is absolutely available onboard for certain pax who had suffered without the loo back in the early Q series. Oppss....got over the top with it. Too bad FY/MH isn't buying them. Sigh
  7. Enthusiastically hopeful that they do
  8. That ATR72 is meant for Firefly. It's logical since FY has the least fleet number currently and mostly will get the priority first compared to MASwings. MASwings are enough fleet covering East Malaysia for now. So it's actually no news for BKI spotters. Unless FY decide to do SZB-BKI or PEN-KBR-BKI.
  9. Ahh thanks for the correction Pieter
  10. It's a F50 prototype parking outside Lelystad Aviodrome for display. There's 2 prototype for F50, the first one has been scrapped and this is the second one. http://www.ruudleeuw.com/aviodrome-dec03.htm
  11. Absolutely is Juliet, the last and only F50 with full MH color scheme!!! Thx Fairul!! Sure gonna miss this color.
  12. You betcha she's more prettier and with the distinctive foklet, no other turboprop has them. Heard from the guys, foklet is really a working winglet. Not sure what's the function and advantages though. You sure your wife want to do transit flight? Sharing with you (and everyone who interested), practicing my graphic manipulation skill just for fun. Here's the progress shots.
  13. Not sure actually, i found it on the net but based on the rego A40- is Bahrain rego. Too bad this bird crashed in late 80s while operate with other airline.
  14. yup but this is the (my) F50 version hybrid old mas and faux It's MGB before transform into blue lady. Plus I place the old moonkite logo a bit lower to complement the F50 slightly modified tail from F27. Observe the difference
  15. Actually this MGF was photoshopped But MGF currently flying with MASwings under hybrid livery.
  16. MGA, MGB. MGC, MGD, MGE, MGF, MGG, MGJ is all meant for MASwings MGI and MGK is only for Firefly. Firefly will get their ATRs around 2008. Berjaya Air ATRs will deliver around 2009 and 2010 as mentioned on ATR's website. MGH is written off. I guess got recycled few times by now.
  17. Wow interesting, never seen this type of uniform before. Anyone has a picture of it?
  18. Why can't they just revive back the old kebaya shades like the pre-90's ground crew royal blue or light green FSS Kebaya for MASwings and pink or orange IFS Kebaya for Firefly? (Not sure what am I talking about? Look at Going Places August Edition and MAS Over the Years huge Hardcover collectors book of what it's called...) It's still the same type of batik patterns with different color shades, since the textile company (or some sort) mass produce for MH, I guess with those old shades isn't as hard to reproduce and cost isn't as high that include a redesign for a whole new uniform. Plus it will look much much nicer and equalized. They can do a redesign the male FS uniform though. I vote for MH uniform. AK came close in second place eventhough the eye burning chilli red and skirt splits. Firefly is barely passable and MASwings current uniform..... ick! The tops design isn't as body figure fitting looks like granny wears, especially with a pants on the bottom. My two cents

Actually it was mentioned on Samsyuri's signature notes hehe 9M-MGA is in MASWings colors already... what's the rego of the second one?
  21. Of course they would. This what I'm happy about; the freedom of options! But it will have to depend on your luck because they might not take you at all and might favour their cadet more. Being private student doesn't guarantees a job or a good airline company. Plus you need to earn enough flight hours as they requires. You might end up at TH (Transmile) if you lucky or end up at RPX (Gading Sari) or might not end up anywhere at all. It's all about the waiting game. Leave private as last option when you are well over the maximum age accepted. Try all options first before settle on private. Visit http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/cont...reers/index.jsp from time to time for additional info. This is not about pilot but as flight attendent. As I heard not all Singaporean would wanna work in SQ due to some position is quite low paid and for those who has a degree can easily earn the offered pays by SQ (some can earn more than that) without going through the cut throat interviews and long flying working hours. So there are more Malaysian will accept the pay more due to the fact of currency rates. But still agrees Malaysian still not cheap labours in Singapore.

  23. The report is saying corrosion problem, so could be SAS Maintenancle fault instead of overall design defects. I think it's make sense since CPH is saltwater environment. Corrosion is highly probable cause relating to the environment.
  24. Hopefully it's not a design defects. But Q400 already involved in too many landing gear accidents...
  25. SAS Q400 damage assessed after Aalborg landing gear incident By David Kaminski-Morrow Scandinavian Airlines expects to complete a series of special inspections on its Bombardier Q400 fleet within four days following the main-gear collapse on one of the type during touchdown at Aalborg. The carrier has been holding talks over the accident with Bombardier and says that the airframer has confirmed that the events at Aalborg had not previously occurred with any Q400. “Although this must be regarded as an isolated incident, SAS has decided to implement a number of extraordinary checks of the landing-gear on the entire fleet of Q400 aircraft,” says the airline. “These checks are additional to official requirements.” While the inspection work will take four days to complete, the airline says it is not expecting any disruption to its scheduled operations. Scandinavian Airlines’ Danish division says it is too early to determine whether the Q400 involved in the 9 September incident will be repaired. A spokeswoman says that the damage is still being assessed. According to Danish news source DR, the SAS aircraft circled the airport for an hour prior to landing to spend fuel. This followed an indicator warning the flight crew that the starboard mainwheel was not locked. Prior to landing rows 6, 7, and 8, those nearest the starboard propeller, were evacutated. However five passengers reportedly suffered light injuries when propeller parts entered the cabin. http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2007/...r-incident.html
